I've given China King several chances to redeem themselves, but each time I visit my food experience gets worse. I usually order the General TSO's Chicken w/fried rice, but after biting into what I though was a piece of chicken when in fact it as a chunk of sauce coated crusty batter (I think) I was done patronizing China King. Today I thought I'd give them one last chance.....worse decision I could have made. Today I ordered Beef and Broccoli. It looked appealing but that was it. The smell and taste was very off putting. The beef was chewy and slimy. The fried rice was flavor less and greasy. The broccoli was nicely cooked, but it had a weird taste as well. The best thing on the menu was the bottled water. I always receive good service, they have good prices and plenty of options , but the food is always disappointing. I won't be going back.

Located next to a liquor store, this place is your standard Chinese food carry out joint. It is very reasonably priced and prepared very quickly. I would recommend calling tour order in and they will have it ready by the time you get there. Like I said they are very fast. You also have the option to dine in, but I must warn you that there are some very interesting characters that come through there. They have tempting lunch specials available and a wide range of menu items to choose from. The staff is very friendly. I gave it 4 stars, but 3.5 would have been more accurate. Staff was so friendly I rounded up. I ordered General Tso's chicken with noodles ($2 upcharge) and it was a ton of food and very tasty. Don't judge a book by its cover and give this place a chance.

This place has been my go to place for Chinese take out for the past few years. They have a good variety and are quick. They also have Cajun seafood boil, but I haven't tried that yet.

Their recent remodel brought about major menu changes. Major focus is on various seafood boils. Many old items are no longer available. She no longer has the items to make Singapore Mei Fun. I know this because I asked. I finally gave in and tried one of said boils. I got the head on shrimp with Cajun seasoning extra spicy. I should preface that both the video menus above the counter and the paper menus now have the tag line exclaiming "Get Your Hands Dirty". I have to say after trying it out, eating with your hands is sorta gross! The saucy is oily, hence ones hands or face is a wee messy too. The flavors were good though. Sorta garlicky, buttery and Cajun spicy. The head on shrimp were large, about 7 in a half pound. Every half pound order comes with two red potatoes and a half size corn on the cob. In full disclosure they did include a pair of plastic gloves, but i didn't see them until I was done and went looking for a napkin.

Now take this three star A-OK with a grain of salt, or an ounce of MSG. Whatever you take it with, don't get all plucky because your head hurts when you see that 3 star rating and then read, "there were chicken feathers on my fried chicken wings." What the cluck, you ask? Yes, there were chicken feathers on my fried chicken wings. Some may say I'm cuckoo. Others might think, "well, at least he's thankful." In the end, I knew exactly what I was getting into. Look at it. The China King... oh China King you're cooky. Have you always been -- since 1859 when your building was built -- a Chinese take out joint? That architecture sure makes us think so. Or an opium den? This is exactly the kind of place that makes a city a big city. Thus, I'm thankful because I want Indy to be a big city. Count of grocery stores in downtown Indy: 1 Count of Chinese take out stands: 1 Count of citizens living downtown: definitely more than 1 So... yes, the feathers. Well.. there were just 3. On a very boney part I wouldn't have eaten any way. So as you suspected... I just worked around them (but not without photos! Check 'em). Behold, the chicken wings were good. They were pre-fried then pan-fried. They were huge, juicy and better than many of the gas station-attached chicken shacks. I crave pork lo mein once a month, and now I've finally decided to fulfill it here. It's $4 and it's my crack. I'm not kidding. I can't eat MSG but a few times a year because I get slack jawed and numb after eating it. But I feel on top of the world. So if I come wandering out of China King asking for a nickel, just throw me a bone, okay? But it better be a bone with a feather on it!

Cashier was so rude and a bitch. Kept looking at us as if we were stupid because it was our first time there ordering.

Food was awesome! The location was hard to find but I eventually found it in the plaza next to Kroger.

Ordered the lunch specials for my family. Disappointed that egg rolls are no longer part of it. But otherwise the food was good, as usual.

Today, I decided to have an eat-in experience. They have 6 four-top tables along with 1 table that sits 8 guests. There's a TV that usually plays ABC News Live. Tonight is no exception. The cashier stops at the table to check on me and ensure my meal is satisfactory. It's good food at a reasonable price and their restaurant is clean. (I did not visit the restroom.) if you're interested in basic Chinese food--they do have Egg Foo Yung with all the different meats. (EFY is not an option for a Combo meal.) This restaurant is a good option.

The orange chicken was really good - like, I'd order that again without hesitation. They give you plenty! I don't even know how I'm going to eat all the leftovers. I was expecting the small to be... well, small. Anyway. The pepper steak was just okay. It lacked flavor for me. And of course, lots of giant peppers instead of slicing them down...and a crap ton of veggies without much steak. But that's typical. The shrimp fried rice... Tasteless. I don't usually like to add more soy sauce to my food (and I didn't), but you're gonna need to drizzle the sauce from one of the other meals onto it or SOMETHING because homegirl was tasteless. Disappointing. The shrimp and broccoli was fine - exactly what you'd expect. Everything was packaged well, so I'd say attentive service for takeout. Not sure what it looks like on the inside/bathrooms/cleanliness, etc. since we did takeout, but I would go back for the orange chicken unless I find a place with better + solid shrimp fried rice. P.S. Remember when they used to automatically put eggs in the fried rice without you having to pay extra? I miss those days.
