Yes they serve food. Unfortunately, they sell to the masses. A creative sounding 'abbreviated menu' to feed a sales function. The American Wagu burger was cooked medium-well and rather void of much flavor. The fries were killer. This dinner went exactly the way I expected when I saw the resort. It's a GREAT area. But the resort is mehhhh. Not luxury in a y sense. Not low end garbage like a motel 6. The food is like what you would expect from a pool bar at a mid-level resort. I got the quesadilla - because that's always the safest thing at these places 1/2 of cheese between 2 tortillas. Fine. Daughter got the burger. Double patties were a +. But meat was grey, no char and the entire thing was a greasy mess. Fries were pathetic. No crisp. Wife had pizza. Bisquick crust (like a focaccia but with no herbs). Cheap white cheddar and canned mushrooms. No sauce. Basically bread sticks without dipping sauce. Margaritas were weak (and $20). We spent $200 with drinks. So not cheap. Just so boring white middle class. Only reason to eat here is you are starving, too drunk or lazy to drive, and forget Uber Eats exists. Ok dropped it to a one. This place is hilariously bad. And remember, there is no where else to go unless you are willing to drive a few miles. Kills any good vibes about the resort. For breakfast - wife asked for Avacado toast with 2 poached eggs. Got hard boiled eggs instead. Meanwhile daughters breakfast potatoes were under cooked to the point of being difficult to stab with a fork and her "scrambled eggs" looked like chunks of polenta. While staying at welks resort we stopped by for breakfast at canyon grille, the place is nice they have a big bar area as you walk in on one side and the restaurant on the other side. We were greeted and shown to our seats, the breakfast menu is pretty small and the food was very underwhelming. I ordered the French toast which didn't have much flavor to them the berry sauce on top wasn't sweet either, my mom had the Benedict's and the avocado was very ripe not good. Our server seemed distracted, we asked him for sugar and he forgot when we reminded him he seemed irritated with us. I don't recommend this place I will not be returning read more

We were staying at The Welk Resort and decided to place an order from here on our first night. We ordered: Calamari frito misto - the calamari was okay, but very greasy and not crispy enough. The zucchini sticks were very soggy as well. Clam chowder - did not taste like clam chowder at all and just smelled and tasted like brown butter (?). I'm not sure what went wrong here but it just tasted like cream and butter, no others flavors here, unfortunately. Farmers burrata - decent salad with burrata, tomatoes, arugula and balsamic Firecracker shrimp - the shrimp were pretty crispy but didn't have much flavor overall Tuscana with shrimp - my kids enjoyed the tuscana pasta and we all agreed that this was the best dish from them. The shrimp on top was very salty though Overall, some items were decent but many were also lacking flavor. Had dinner here last night before a concert at the theater. The issue here is the property is rural and nothing else around for miles. However, you would be well advised to drive to Escondido or Fallbrook where there are many good restaurants. Food here is not up to the quality you would expect at a nice resort such as this. Close to $30 for the chicken dish, and was quite dry but worst part was it was drenched in overly salty but otherwise flavorless brown sauce. The vegetables on the plate were okay but also quite dry and for some reason they serve it with plain white rice- fine but uninspired for a nice hotel restaurant and at this price point. Staff is very nice and helpful. Also the salad fine, no issue with that. Another in our party had chicken wrap which was quite small. This was my second time trying this place with the same food quality issues and will be my last. read more

The burgers were alright. There was this horrendous smell that filled the entire restaurant. It smelled like a sewage leak. Had to enjoy already not good food while sitting in what smelled like an abandoned porta-potty. The only reason I gave 2 stars is bc my server was so nice. I went to the Canyon Grille for Galentine's day with a friend and had a chicken dish with mushroom glaze. Service was great, but I have to be honest and say that the chicken was meh. It was round-shaped, like a patty that would go on a bun for a chicken sandwich. It didn't look "real", and instead looked and tasted like the cheap chicken nuggets from McDonalds. The mushroom glaze was salty, which to me indicates that might be from a can/bottle or it's from the day before's leftovers. The garlic rice and the veggies were excellent. First time writing a bad review. I originally wanted a chicken ceasar salad but they changed their menu. We went with the shrimp and chicken quesadilla appetizers and it was terrible. The shrimp were super skinny and had a ton of tempura (tempura X5), and the quesadilla had no flavor; the cheese was completely gone from being overcooked, and the chicken was dry. The clam chowder was very sweet. Haven't tasted a clam chowder this sweet in ages. And portion size is small for $12. Service was terrible. We had to keep asking for service. Water took ages to arrive. They forgot my order so I had to wait much longer than expected. It's the only restaurant at the Welk so you are stuck with what they offer. The staff is friendly and attentive. The menu is rather limited and offers no pasta dish . The food had been average but showing improvement during our February 2026 visit. We have lived up the street from this restaurant for 20 years in the first four years it was very good, but since then it has been the worst food imaginable. We tried it again tonight hoping for change since the Hyatt bought them out and we both had the filet mignon which was over $100. The meat was so overcooked it was like beef jerky, and we ordered it medium rare. I really hope they will upgrade this restaurant since they have shut down the Pizza Hut down here as well. My friend and I decided to try this place since it's right on the premise of the resort. Service was fine and the staff members were trying their best. However, we ordered our food 10:07 AM. We waited almost 50 mins for our food to arrive. It seemed that they also forgot we ordered drinks and had to ask to see if our drinks were ready. This was already after we had gotten our food. The croissant was dry and so we're the eggs. The croissant is more of a bun than a croissant. Which was also very dry as well. The interior was very dated upon entering as well. For the price you pay, definitely not worth the quality. I would assume that service would be better especially because this is the only place the resort has for food. Only got food to go, but the food was great! We got two burger burgers, forgot what the name of one was, double cheeseburger but it had aïoli and bacon- both that and regular burger was super good! Fries were good. We did get a small red velvet cake, for the price of eight dollars we thought it would be a slice of cake, but it seemed to be the size of like cupcake or smaller- it was good but too me not worth the price. Reason for four stars, I had called before arriving and was placed on hold, but I feel like I was forgotten. I was placed on hold for about 10 minutes with no response so I drove over there to find the hostess not on the phone, I believe she was doing something else or writing something down, which was fine, but I felt like I was placed on hold and there was nobody at the front when I arrived. However, I will not let that damper my experience, definitely if you're at the resort or in the area this is a good place to try. read more

Shocked!!!! I was not expecting the dinner I had tonight. First off, the hostess was very nice and accommodating to seat us with our twin 2.5 year olds. Secondly, Valerie was a super duper server, she greatest with energy and a smile and even brought our boys stickers to entertain themselves with. I can go on and on about Valerie. She was the best!!! Now the food going to keep this short and sweet. We had the burrata, Salmon del mar and the Braised short ribs .... Unbelievable did not think i was going to have such a delicious dinner. One star for customer service for the hostess tonight. We arrived 9:05 pm at the restaurant and she said last seating is at 9pm. So we asked if we can at least have some to-go food and she said no because kitchen is close. (In my mind, how can you seat people at 9pm if kitchen is close?) so it only means, she just doesn't want to help. And we asked is there anywhere else in the resort we can get food, since we just arrived and check in and were hungry after the long drive, she said no as well. Very poor customer service! Canyon Grille is the only restaurant at Welk resort, with this kind of customer service, i don't wanna be back at this resort even if I am a platinum owner. we just arrived and it is not a good experience. Hopefully the owner of this restaurant knows how this place is being run. The leadership also has a problem. Pertaining to this incident, she said "ordering to-go is considered a seating." So no matter what the circumstances are, they cannot give any consideration to resort guests because they go by their 9pm rule. As a customer/ guest, this is a very unpleasant vibe. read more

You know it's a resort/country club restaurant during an off season. I always feel these are always a hit or miss during those times. So let's move on. Upon walking in we were greeted immediately. The menu had some pretty decent options. I opted for the grilled cheese and tomato bisque. The grilled cheese bread was grilled perfectly. But using Kraft singles and not real cheddar or fontina is not acceptable at a place like this. It isn't on the kids menu. This was something on the normal menu. Severely lacking and a not good at all. The tomato bisque was WAY too rich in flavor. Could hardly even taste tomato. Steak with chimichurri was well displayed. Taste was a ok. I mean if you don't want to leave the property this is a good spot for something quick. It isn't an amazing restaurant ( at least off season it isn't ) The staff was definitely very nice though and very attentive. I just feel the food is lacking severely. Place is clean. 2 stars for customer service. My husband and I walked into the restaurant to place a to go order as we tried for about 15 min to call to place a ln order with no luck from our guest phone (we are staying at the resort). Placed an order for the Beef Short Rib, and an order of Mushroom Risotto around 6:10pm. Went for a walk with our young daughter and came back around 20 min later. Food was ready, handed to us, and we walked back to our room. We fed, bathed and put our daughter to bed, then around 7:50pm we sat down to eat our dinner. Risotto was missing and in its place was some sort of sad chicken dinner. We specifically ordered a vegetarian entree. I went back to the restaurant with both entrees and told them they had the order wrong and the hostess remembered me and my order. She was really flustered and blamed new staff, but blamed herself for putting the order in wrong. She offered to make an order for the correct dish and swap it out for the chicken dish. She kept fumbling her words and offered for me to keep the chicken dish AND make a new Risotto. I said I'd be ok keeping the chicken, but si need the meal I actually ordered. She then said she'll take it off the bill, but was bumbling around with her words, so I wasn't sure what she was meaning. She disappears for a bit to talk to her Shift Supervisor? Manager? I'm not sure which, she never was clear. She came back a few minutes later and said she placed the order. I mentioned that there was a price difference in the chicken dish versus the mushroom dish. The difference was a $1 (Risotto was cheaper, I was charged for the more expensive chicken). I thought it was only fair to ask for my check to be voided, and the new corrected chechnya be charged. I still felt as if I should be compensated for the incorrect 0order somehow. She went to find the Manager/Supervisor and brought her out. I heard the Hostess say, that I had ordered so long ago, and was barely bringing it in. I mentioned I tried calling the Restaurant prior to going going there, but no answer for the 15 minutes I tried. I also mentioned I didn't check the meal until 8pm because we were putting our daughter to bed, and etc. We waited until she went to bed so we could enjoy our meal. The Manager/Supervisor tried to talk me out of getting my bill rectified and pushed me to take both the chicken and the Risotto and call if even. I said I would rather have the $1 back and be charged the correct amount, than keep the sad looking chicken no one ordered. They kept pushing the issue of it being even and no big deal since I also got the chicken dish for free. Really making me feel like I was being difficult, making me feel guilty for even coming into get my order corrected. I pulled the chicken dish out and left it on the counter while the Manager/Supervisor left to attend to something else for a few minutes. They figured out how to void my check and re charge the corrected amount. The Manager/Supervisor must have had a change of heart at the last minute and offered free desserts, which I declined. She then told the Hostess to give me a 15% discount, and the Hostess was like OMG "I was gonna say she should get something", while ringing me out and finally charging me the corrected orders price. The Hostess asked if I wanted the chicken still, I declined thinking wtf lady. I didn't want the chicken then and still don't want it now!! Food was good, as it's always been when we come here a couple times of year. Very disappointed with the way the handled the situation. They also don't answer their phone at the restaurant, we tried calling 6 separate times and all it did was ring on end. Get that issue fixed! read more
