Surprisingly, great food and service when I compare to other yelp reviews. Frankly, better food than Holland American Lido or normal restaurant, on par with Pinnacle. The person getting calamari appetizer was raving about it. French onion soup was better than cruise. Halibut was very nice. Baked alaska was missing on cruise but available here. Warm apple tart was also great. All servers friendly, attentive, and helpful. Note: While this is part of Holland America hotel, Princess and Holland share vouchers across each other. For larger groups, Opentable doesn't seem to like 6 people here, but just do a 4 and 2, then ask for consideration when you arrive, but you may need to wait a bit.

Very good food! Could be considered pricey, but in the tourist area it is reasonable enough. I had a voucher for my meal here and that consisted of soup or salad, an entree and dessert. I opted for the French Onion Soup, the rockfish special and the bananas foster creme brulee. The onion soup came out in a regular bowl, but with two large pieces of French bread, melted cheese and lots of onions with a little broth. It was flavorful and tasted very good. It was a good starter to the meal. The rockfish was made in a coconut cream curry sauce and was very good. The potatoes and vegetables also were good. Howeer, halfway through my rockfish, it was undercooked and I was concerned about getting sick. I called over my waiter and he agreed and took the plate back to be cooked properly. He even had them put more potatoes and vegetables on even though I didn't request or even ask. That's the mark of a good restaurant! Plus he stayed until I tasted the fish to make sure it was cooked well and could be finished. I finished it quickly and waited for my creme brulee to be prepared. I waited a while and eventually the waiter returned to my table and another and indicated that the staff ran out of butane and couldn't properly prepare the creme brulee. The waiter asked what else I might like and I asked for the warm apple tart with ice cream. Within minutes this delicious apple tart arrived and I quickly gobbled it up. It was very good and I really enjoyed the tart even thought I couldn't have the creme brulee. However, with less than three bites left my waiter came and said they found the butane and were preparing my creme brulee and that it would be out in a few minutes. It came and it was just amazing. Waiter and other staff were great, food was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I highly recommend a visit to this restaurant. I sat in the bar, but got equally as good service as I would have had in the restaurant portion.

We really loved the McKinley Chalet. Had an excellent dinner on the other resort restaurant the night before. We each ordered a glass of wine. Mine was about 3 ounces for $9. Then we each had soup. My crab bisque lacked crab. My husband's French onion soup was good. Next we received steak salad. It was not chopped but had large pieces of old romaine lettuce (with multiple rustic stains on it), with a few other vegetables. The steak was cooked well done when ordered medium. It was also cold and had a sweet barbeque sauce that was not supposed to be on it. We did not eat it. Called management. They took it off the bill and we left. Never received bread and the service was horrible. Not enough help for the captive crowd.

It's okay, super touristy and expensive. My husband had the rib eye and wedge salad which he loved the salad! Steak was just okay. Salmon was cooked well, but not really flavorful. We ended up sitting in the bar which had the better ambiance with the open windows and high tables. You are kind of trapped in this little tourist town for upscale dinner choices.

On the first visit we sat at the bar to avoid the wait. Bartenders were friendly even though many were working their first day of the season. Ordered the cub size (12") Boreal Forest which is perfect for 2 people. Also had a few beers from their very long menu. Inside was cabin cozy. They also have outdoor seating. Overall, excellent experience! Boreal 5/5 stars. For our second visit, we needed a quick lunch between two excursions so we ordered pickup and tried the Homestead this time. Took 20 minutes from calling in to the pizza being ready which worked well. Homestead 4/5 stars, crust was still amazing but pizza felt like it needed something more. Very happy we found this place on our first day in Denali.

If I was just rating the pizza, it'd be a 4 stars cause we thoroughly enjoyed it. Average size for…read morethe price, good amount of cheese (almost too heavy personally) and pepperoni but fantastic crust. Super light, nice air bubbles and charred just enough but not burnt. Crust had nice structure/crumb and chew as well. Really solid overall and would definitely get it again. My few issues: -Saturday late afternoon/early evening I get it'll be busy but the front of house was just way unorganized and none of the staff seemed super helpful till I had actually ask someone where to place a to go order. I was literally standing in front of them and no one acknowledged me lol. It was also so cramped with people standing around everywhere for no reason it seemed. -We ordered to go as mentioned and they text you when your order is ready. Cool, not a problem. What they forgot to mention was you get a text as items on your order become ready. So you'll get your appetizers or whatever else that are quicker to make well before your actual pizza. Do you eat them hot in your car while waiting for the rest of your order? Or let them get cold and eat them when you get home later? Who does it that way?!? Absolutely ridiculous and so dumb. Have proper kitchen planning and make food so it all comes out hot and at once. -Just FYI, the ravioli appetizer for $16 came with 5 raviolis. Yeah you hear that right, only FIVE raviolis in an order for 16 bucks. That should be a crime and such a rip off. I expected at least 10 of them for that price. But hey, you get both marinara and pesto, so that's nice. -Last issue was when they brought my pizza, it didn't have my ranch's that I ordered and paid for. It took probably 5 minutes and the staff going back n forth 3 times saying someone must've taken them. It took a manager to get ranch's from the kitchen and bring them up front...Then tells the to go staff that the kitchen sent them with my ravioli that was sent half an hour earlier, which they didn't. Why was it so hard to get some ranch?! And I paid $50 for a pizza, appetizer and can of side, why would I lie about getting my extra sauce? Shouldn't have even been an issue for a dollar worth of ranch IMO.. I gave it a 3 star overall because the pizza was really good and would've given it a 4* on its own but everything else was a 2* as outlined above. Definitely things that could be improved upon at the end of the day, but they do make some really solid pizza.

Not a lot of space inside (basically standing only) and with it being very cold outside, it was also cold inside too so we opted to just eat our food in the car with heat on lol. Service was pleasant and quick but food did take a minute with what seemed to not be too many orders ahead or people waiting...But we weren't in a rush so no biggie. The hot dogs were tasty and seemed to be good quality too. Just a tad on the small side for $10 dogs in my opinion. Had they have been 1/4 lb dogs like a Costco dog, that'd be well worth it and I'd have zero complaints. Chili was also very tasty (no beans as it should be) and a fine amount of cheese. Fries were crispy and seasoned nice as well. Just a big smaller order than I'd expect for $7 but again, it's kinda what you'll expect in a heavy touristy area. Everything came out very hot and fresh which I appreciate as well. We'd definitely stop by again next time around Denali!

Three of us ordered salmon medium rare, and it came out overcooked across the board. The bigger problem was an interaction with Larry Smith, the restaurant manager. Before dinner, we'd brought a personal bottle of wine to enjoy by the fire -- it was 40°F and raining, our room only had one chair, and there was nowhere else indoors on property to sit. Larry told us we needed to remove the wine since we hadn't purchased it there. We disposed of it and confirmed this when he checked. He then came back, looked at our personal cups, saw they still had wine in them, and got confrontational, telling us we had to leave. A corkage fee would have been the normal way to handle outside alcohol -- instead we were treated like we'd done something wrong on our anniversary. The cocktail and wine list was also limited and underwhelming for the prices charged. We'd recommend trying the restaurants (and hotel) at the Princess or Holland properties instead -- nicer atmosphere and better food for a similar Denali-area trip.

One of the characters described was partially responsible for creating Denali national park. The problem I had with the show itself was that there was NO INDIGENOUS REPRESENTATION at all. Since coming to Alaska we have been learning constantly about the horrible atrocities committed to the native population in the name of white greed and Christian nationalism. We have also learned that these issues are pretty prevalent in Alaska today also, so I found it very offensive that they presented a white washed show like that. The food was what you would expect flavor-wise for a dinner theater but what made me really put off was that we had a global pandemic less than a decade ago and it's like this company learned nothing from it. You are expected to pass your plate to the 11 other people sitting at your table so they can put the food on your plate for you. We spent a week in a petri dish (cruise ship) before this land tour and I would say 10-25 percent of the people are obviously ill, I don't want anyone but a trained chef with experience in food safety to touch my food thank you. Overall I would recommend avoiding this dinner theater and donating the cost of it to native Alaskan charities or cultural groups. To the cast and crew, "please please please show some scruples and don't avoid the real story of Alaska's gold rush. And THATS the truth!"
