Pretty good pizza for the middle of a national park in Alaska. I got the cheese pizza with fresh mozzarella and elk meatballs. We were really tired and it was a super long wait which was expected considering the amount of cruise ships that come into the area and the lack of restaurants but we shopped around while waiting for the table and they can text you so you don't have to stand there. There's also a cute little bar and outdoor seating where you can wait. Not being one of the cruise ship crew, we were super hungry and super tired, and it hit the spot. read more

I'll starts with the pros: - good pizza - cool building However, that's unfortunately about all they have going for them. For starters, before you even get there you can't make a reservation which is extremely unfortunate when a place is this busy and has this few seats. So, when you do get there, you most likely have to be put on a waiting list. I was told it would be a 30-40 minute wait and it ended up being just over an hour just to get a seat outside for 2 people. (Mind you there are squirrels and birds running all over the deck and the empty tables outside, I mean I like animals as much as the next guy but I don't really want them interrupting my dinner) Once we finally got seated, we ordered quickly and were told the pizza would be 30 minutes or 40 minutes max (sound familiar?) Once again, it ended up being an hour until we got our food. So, we ended up having to wait 2 hours total just to get our food to our table. It was so late I just boxed it up immediately and took it home. Like I said earlier, the pizza tastes pretty good and I wish I could rate the place higher, but between the difficulty of getting seating and the wait time, I just can't really recommend it too highly. I hope they reintroduce a reservation option and/or a takeout option so more people can easily enjoy the food. read more

If I was just rating the pizza, it'd be a 4 stars cause we thoroughly enjoyed it. Average size for the price, good amount of cheese (almost too heavy personally) and pepperoni but fantastic crust. Super light, nice air bubbles and charred just enough but not burnt. Crust had nice structure/crumb and chew as well. Really solid overall and would definitely get it again. My few issues: -Saturday late afternoon/early evening I get it'll be busy but the front of house was just way unorganized and none of the staff seemed super helpful till I had actually ask someone where to place a to go order. I was literally standing in front of them and no one acknowledged me lol. It was also so cramped with people standing around everywhere for no reason it seemed. -We ordered to go as mentioned and they text you when your order is ready. Cool, not a problem. What they forgot to mention was you get a text as items on your order become ready. So you'll get your appetizers or whatever else that are quicker to make well before your actual pizza. Do you eat them hot in your car while waiting for the rest of your order? Or let them get cold and eat them when you get home later? Who does it that way?!? Absolutely ridiculous and so dumb. Have proper kitchen planning and make food so it all comes out hot and at once. -Just FYI, the ravioli appetizer for $16 came with 5 raviolis. Yeah you hear that right, only FIVE raviolis in an order for 16 bucks. That should be a crime and such a rip off. I expected at least 10 of them for that price. But hey, you get both marinara and pesto, so that's nice. -Last issue was when they brought my pizza, it didn't have my ranch's that I ordered and paid for. It took probably 5 minutes and the staff going back n forth 3 times saying someone must've taken them. It took a manager to get ranch's from the kitchen and bring them up front...Then tells the to go staff that the kitchen sent them with my ravioli that was sent half an hour earlier, which they didn't. Why was it so hard to get some ranch?! And I paid $50 for a pizza, appetizer and can of side, why would I lie about getting my extra sauce? Shouldn't have even been an issue for a dollar worth of ranch IMO.. I gave it a 3 star overall because the pizza was really good and would've given it a 4* on its own but everything else was a 2* as outlined above. Definitely things that could be improved upon at the end of the day, but they do make some really solid pizza. read more

This was my favorite dining experience in Denali. After shockingly finding out that, generally speaking, seafood in Alaska (namely the salmon) is overpriced and nothing spectacular -- we decided to go for something "different" for dinner. I found that prospector's perfectly delivers. Lots of great beer on draft -- very happy with the selection offered. Pizza was on point. They let us get two toppings on a pizza, we did the savage alpine and northern lights. I'd highly recommend eating here if you're in the area. read more

Definitely recommend eating here for a more affordable dinner in Denali. We visited twice because we enjoyed our first pizza so much! On the first visit we sat at the bar to avoid the wait. Bartenders were friendly even though many were working their first day of the season. Ordered the cub size (12") Boreal Forest which is perfect for 2 people. Also had a few beers from their very long menu. Inside was cabin cozy. They also have outdoor seating. Overall, excellent experience! Boreal 5/5 stars. For our second visit, we needed a quick lunch between two excursions so we ordered pickup and tried the Homestead this time. Took 20 minutes from calling in to the pizza being ready which worked well. Homestead 4/5 stars, crust was still amazing but pizza felt like it needed something more. Very happy we found this place on our first day in Denali. read more

Wow!! We SO enjoyed our meal at Prospectors!! We were blown away by the mozzarella bricks (hilariously enormous), and the prospector pizza was yummmmm-o. Like, I wish I could have eaten more it was so good. As it is, we gave two slices to a random stranger sitting next to us at the bar lol. Great service, amazing food... I don't know that we will ever be back in Denali, so go have a slice in our place!! You won't regret it!! read more

I walked in and was immediately taken back by how broad Jared's shoulder were. Jesus, is this guy on steroids? Well, five minutes into my dining experience I realized Jared isn't an anabolic beast, he's just yoked from carrying the place on his back. Jared bussed our table, operated as host, was a five star waiter, washed the dishes, and if I'm analyzing the trend accurately, he likely cooked our food too. Jared is clearly the Swiss Army knife of the establishment and deserves a raise. Food was good. The pizza crust was great. The mozzarella bricks are humongous.... The amount of cheese involved is like nothing I've ever seen. Jared earned the five star rating on his own. Without him I'd have rated the experience 3.5-4. read more

We ordered the lower 48 it ain't and if they didn't tell us the sausage was made of reindeer and the meatballs were made of elk, we would have never known. The thin crust had a good chew. We wanted to try elk and reindeer, but considering it didn't taste any different than run of the mill beef and pork, we would probably go with something more ordinary next time (ie: combo aka prospector's). They charged $0.50 to swap out red wine vinaigrette for raspberry vinaigrette in the spinach salad. Why's there an upcharge for that?? We also weren't told there was an extra charge. I'm not gonna sweat fifty cents, but totally seems like a little nickel and diming here. In terms of the spinach salad itself, it was a crisp, healthy portion with loads of feta. $18 for five wings is also highway robbery. Supposedly it's a pound, but even as meaty as they were, that seems to be a stretch. 4% automatic service fee. Service was fine. Love the taxidermy-wilderness decor! read more

The pizza was Amazing but plan on a long wait! The wait was long, but definitely worth it. I believe we went around 7pm, and we had an hour long wait. We put our name on the list for 7 people and then went to walk around the shops. The wood fired pizza is delicious, Drag Line red sauce, double pepperoni, black olives, fresh oregano, mozzarella and provolone cheeses, and Parmesan. Excellent quick and friendly service, food was okay for a tiny town like this. Tried the spinach salad and vegan tundra pizza because I'm trying to watch my diet. Salad was fresh but only had maybe 2 strawberries in it. Pizza had vegan cheese and sausage, I probably should've opted for one of the other vegan pizzas since I don't like plant based meat/cheese but I forgot. You guys! My family of 10 were on an Alaska cruise with Holland America and we were staying in Denali for the land portion of the trip. We saw the signs for Prospectors Pizza and several local highly recommended so for we went. We were pleasantly surprised at their unique flavor combinations, ingredient list and overall taste. I don't give many 5's out but this pie deserves it. Plus the bar staff was over and above when it comes to customer service. Had a great experience and start to finish! We were able to get sat within 10 minutes for a party at 6:00 and the place was packed! The server was prompt and greeted us quickly. She also suggested appetizers and entrees that we had never heard of. She also informed us that there would be a small wait if we ordered a pizza which was great because we ordered an appetizer to tide us over. The pizzas were unique and amazing! These guys are legit! First, we walked in to a crowded lobby but were still somehow seated within 10 minutes. Mind you, this is a large space with many rooms. But that aside, their wait staff were on point, friendly and very approachable when we needed something extra. Making everyone happy at our table was a feat. Why? We had thin crust lovers, deep dish lovers, meat lovers, spicy (read: jalapeno lovers) and veggie lovers. Some of us wanted IPAs; some wanted easy drinking beer and then there was me - a sour beer, cider lover. Prospector's hit the spot with everyone. Yes, it's true we ordered two pizzas, but we ate every last piece of them both! I had a cider, while others ordered local IPAs and low IBU beers. For me, it's always the crust and these guys don't really do thin but they didn't do thick / deep dish either. It was just the right mix of chewy and a well browned crust. So good. And, it's just four ingredients. Yay for simplicity and no added junk. I learned later that Prospector's is owned by 49th State Brewing Company in Anchorage (which we also ate at and LOVED) which explains some of their really cool ingredient combinations. We ordered the Savage Alpine ( garlic oil, marinated steak, shiitake mushrooms, caramelized onions, mozzarella and provolone cheeses, truffle pecorino cheese pizza that's garnished with fresh parsley). You've got two options for pizza here in Healy at the gateway to Denali. If you're staying at one of the lodges across the street, they're probably going to recommend the other place, as they own it and they're required to do so. If they do, and you have a hankering for pizza, do yourself a favor, ignore that recommendation, and walk across the street to Prospector's. They're owned by the 49th State Brewing Company which has 2 other restaurants in the state and who produce tons of interesting beers, including the Smōk peated one I tried...and liked! I often gravitate to a smoked whisky or mezcal, but had never tried (or heard of) a peated beer before. It was a nice diversion from standard beer fare, and there are so many other house-brewed beers on top, you're sure to find something you like if you're a beer person. The pizza was GREAT. I don't say that lightly...I've written dozens of detailed reviews of pizza places and have cataloged the differences between basic restaurant pizza to try NYC slices, Detroit Style, Chicago style, etc. When I say the pizza was great, it comes on the back of an ongoing lifelong deep-dive into pizza. The dough may have been the store...perfectly proofed, and crispy, and the bottom with a nice chewiness and flavor to the crust on the rim. I liked it a lot. There are also tons of vegetarian (and even vegan options.) We got a half cheese and half vegan pepperoni...the larger grizzly size which, was generally a mistake...we would have been fine with the smaller size, but somehow we managed to finish almost all of it and my wife had a spare piece of pizza for a snack the next day. The atmosphere was great too...we were seated at a hightop at the bar...and actually, we got seated right away which felt like a miracle as when we arrived there were tons of people waiting for tables. The place was perfectly Alaska decorated...so we knew exactly where we were and we loved that on the large TVs they were showing videos of local wildlife and the aurora borealis which nicely accented where we were and was much preferred over any sporting event. The garden salad we got was also really fresh and well done. We really liked it here. It was one of the nicest places in town to eat...well worth the easy walk across the street from the resort we were staying at, and if we had one in our town, it would be a frequently visited spot. read more

We walked past here last night and decided to put our name in for 2. The hostess told us the wait would be 45 minutes. The crowd was lively and enjoying their dining experience. As we walked down the bar two seats opened up. The woman behind the bar asked if we were eating. Sure. The surrounding customers were eating pizzas which all looked delicious. We considered the menu and ordered a smaller size that is typically cut into 6 or 7 slices. About 25 minutes later our pie arrived. It was very good and the atmosphere at the bar was friendly. I can understand other reviews that observed the front of house as chaotic. The staff member who controls tables should only do that. Instead she got involved in a takeout order including a merchandise purchase. For ten minutes no one could take names and confirm the time left to get a table. If you go here be patient. You can make reservations in advance. The food is great and the bar staff engaging. We would definitely come back. read more

The waitress took probably 20 minutes to take our order because she didn't understand what we were saying even though it was very straight forward- couldn't find something/ couldn't figure out how to remove something from the pizza. We came the first full day of being in Denali and our Server Tamaya was super nice and fast and friendly. She gave great suggestions and had us smiling. We appreciate the great pizza, definitely tasted fresh and the ingredients all had flavor. The entire family loved the Pizza so much we came back our third day in Denali and had more pizza! Lexi served us the second day and was super sweet also, always willing to help us with anything we needed and was super fast. Love this place and had nothing bad to say about the food! Was just backpacking through Denali national park the past 2.5 days and decided to head here right after we got out of the park. Decided to get the homestead pizza (bbq chicken). This pizza decided to blow my socks out of boots, leaving atomized pieces of my foot behind. I then decided to grab a nice glass of tigers blood beer and my entire mouth exploded in joy.
