No stop to Florida is complete without a pastelito and good cafecito Cubano. Came here for an afternoon snack and ordered a tostada, guava and cheese, and a plain cheese pastelito with a colada. This bakery is pretty huge inside and they also have meals available to go which looked pretty delicious. There's some outdoor seating but nothing crazy or anything just little tables and chairs to let you enjoy a bit of no AC when it's nice weather. There's guava and cheese pastelitos HIT. Absolutely obsessed with the dough as they were flaky but not overly flaky. Basically I didn't had the dough sticking to my teeth and landing anywhere but my mouth. Usually I get the crumbs all over my shirt, face, table. Well, you get the idea I think. Point is the dough was on point, they were perfectly soft and flaky when they needed to be. The ratio of guava to cheese was amazing. My only "complaint" was the colada didn't have the typical authentic Cuban crema I want in my cafecito. Other than that, everything was great! read more

My only feedback is that I know we live in South Florida but not everyone speaks spanish. I called in to let the store know that the last time I ordered a colada I put in the option to add sugar and when I got it, there was no sugar added. A lady picked up the phone with the little spanish I know I tried to communicate and let her know the situation and then she hangs up the phone. That wasn't cool. One of my favorite cuban bakery chains, this is the first time I've been to this one and it was excellent! Extremely clean inside, staff was nice and food was great! I jumped on their guava flaky pastries and found them not too sweet, which is a high compliment from someone from the Asian community. If I had discovered them sooner, I might have tried their rather large and yummy looking breakfast croissants for $6.75. On a later visit, I picked up their papa rellena $2.65 and croqueta bacalao $1.15. I thoroughly enjoyed the fish croquette with its smooth texture, but the seasoning of the potato ball wasn't quite to my taste. I ordered via Uber eats and called to advise that I didn't want cafe con leche but wanted Jupina soda. I indicated on the app that I didn't want cafe con leche but there was nowhere on the app to specify the type of soda I wanted. So I called to specify. A woman picked up and hung up the phone on my face while I was talking. I kid you not. I have the screenshots. I was in no way rude. I immediately cancelled my order because if she can behave that way towards me over the phone I can't imagine what she will do to my order. The customer service in this place has become a shit hole. The attitude of these women in there are so fucking disgusting. This was not an issue of me changing my mind. This was an issue of me protecting my safety. I should not be charged the cancellation fee. I have also screenshots of me calling and have posted a negative review of the restaurant on google. I doubt they wash their hands after they wipe their asses. I used to order from here all the time. We came for breakfast and will not be returning. It's sad because I really enjoy my Cuban pastries. I had the worst experience. I think I was so upset that forgot to take pictures. We ordered a tequeño that when we cut open it was raw, changed it and it was the same way. Decided to change it for a pan de bono since we were told that's the way they sell it. The pan de bono was good. We also ordered a cuban toast was not toasted, butter was not melted and since I added cheese that was not melted either. Took it back and asked them to make sure it melts and I think they put it in the microwave instead of the press. The butter and cheese melted, but it was super soft, worst cuban toast ever. Their pastelitos are usually good but didn't get any this time. We left extremely disappointed and regret coming for breakfast. read more

5-20-23 Was across the street at the dry cleaners thought I would finally stop in for a quick snack. I haven't gone through these doors since it was Wings and Curlz. Believe me the former was nothing to write home about in fact it was gross and that's what lead to it's demise. Now this place is the utter opposite they truly must have gutted the old restaurant as everything inside is clean, fresh and new. In fact it is one big open space. So I read the signs above stand here to order so I get a beef pastelito and a cortadito no sugar. For just $4. truly a bargain. I get it to go once I get in my car I can't help my self and the pastelito is delicious just the perfect balance of meat. As for the cortadito it gave me the jolt of the energy I needed. I purchased 2 trays for my New Year's Eve party and they were completely wrong. When I saw the presentation, I asked for a Manager and the lady in charge (blonde lady, don't remember her name) was very condescending and dismissive. She spoke to me as if I was an idiot. Having worked as a Hotel General Manager for over 20 years, it gives me a wide experience in restaurants and catering and this is by far, the worst ever. Unfortunately, not the first time it happens. Nowadays CAO Bakery & Cafe is everywhere, and so, I have admittedly tried their items before. This just happens to be the first time I go to one of their actual locations. Usually my experience with them has been simply a coworker of mine bringing croquetas into the office. Anyway, I passed by last weekend and was surprised at the size of this bakery. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, not to mention that the place was absolutely spotless. I particularly enjoyed seeing the floor, mainly because their six feet apart sign had a cute croqueta on it, but haha, that's just me being silly. Apparently you can skip the line by ordering online. That and they have some specials going on like free Cuban bread Mondays. Oh, and Nutella pastelitos are currently available for a limited time. That being said, let's get to the actual food. This place was so great that I went twice in one day! Yes, people, I went twice in one day! My first visit consisted of two oven-baked chicken empanadas, two ham croquetas, and a large café con leche. I found the empanadas ridiculously small when compared to other Cuban bakeries, but don't let their size deceive you. They were extremely full, and more so, filling. They were sadly a bit cold though. The croquetas in comparison were warm, perfectly gooey, and a delight to bite into. I should've gotten more of them honestly. As for the café con leche, it had the right amount of sugar. That in itself is saying something as these Cuban bakeries tend to go overboard with the sugar and I always end up asking for the sugar on the side. But eh, this time around, it was perfect. I ended up eating my breakfast there happily, just contemplating life and my choices. I eventually left only to return for a second visit. This time it was just for a quick flan and drink. Tried this location again out of desperation and again one of the pastries I bought was old. It had white frosting which instead of chipping off like hard white chocolate it just resembled a paste of glue and gum. The pastry was stale. This had happened to me before at this location. Great selection of pastries and bakery items. Everything tastes fresh and warm and delicious. The cafe con leche is great. They also have a good selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches, but if you're in a hurry, it isn't the best idea to order them, as they are making them fresh and take some time. The wait time can be pretty long. I went in for just coffees and pastries and it took about 20 minutes to be ready. The staff is friendly, they primarily speak Spanish however, so they can be hard to understand if you aren't bilingual. It is nice to have this in the area for a good cuban breakfast, just be prepared to wait a bit, or order ahead so your wait time isn't as long! read more

There are several of these shops in the area but they are not all the same. Which is odd, but that's how it is. The one in Fort Lauderdale is okay, but not as good as this one. This one is quite good. I don't speak Spanish so I can't tell you the names of the foods that I've had, but I can describe them. There are the ones with ground ham rolled up and breaded and deep fried. They're about the size of thumb. They're very tasty. There is a pastry that has cheese in it that is quite good. There is another one with guava jelly. It's not my favorite because guava is not that big of a deal for me, but it's good. They have little sandwiches with ham and cheese that look like sliders. Those are good as well. Someday I'll learn Spanish but it's just as easy for me to go in and point at what I'd like. They understand. read more

Had a classic pan con bistec and ham croquetas. There was nice Latin music upon entering the restaurant and took a while to get greeted. Once that happened it was with a nice smile and rapid service. Once I received my order nothing was good. The croquetas were very mushy and COLD inside. In my opinion they shouldn't sell those anymore. Then onto the sandwich... very disappointed. The bread wasn't toasted, it was very soggy. The lettuce was completely wilted ( see photo ). The "crispy" string potato chips were also mushy and chewy. The meat was beyond overcooked and full of cartilage and fat. It just wasn't good. The restaurant wasn't full and my order came out very fast. So I am not sure why this was prepared in this way. This place is open for take out and delivery. I am so happy that they are. They don't offerevery on the menu. They do have a large arrangements of pastries, cakes, cookies and desserts. I was happy to see that this place was open. I had a medium cafe con leche and yes it was really good. My friend had a large and we both noticed that the size was smaller than we are used to. So a large is really a medium size and a medium is really a small size. I think I had the best ham croquettes here.they had more ham than breading and boy does that really make a difference. The taste is really good. They where a really diferent but good. There Cuban bread is good too. It was nice and soft in the inside a little crunch in the outside just the way I liked it. Dropped in after my mom pointed out this new and wonderful bakery in the heart of downtown Hollywood. As a Yelper Helper, I had to check it out. Geeez Louise. This place is Cuba meets South Beach. I came for breakfast but apparently for lunch this place is a must. I paid 4.50 for a breakfast sandwich. 11.25 for a guava pastry so the prices are spot on for your typical Cuban bakery. They have hardy food in case you working moms (or dads) are not in the mood to cook or do fast food. The service was amazing They bring the food to your table and outside seating available. The breakfast sandwich was delicious and everything is cooked fresh. This place is light and airy, floors have an amazing pattern and just aesthetically pleasing to just come and have breakfast/lunch/dinner with friends or family. I recently saw this new business while driving along Hollywood Blvd., but it was reading fellow Yelper's, Ariel W., review that intrigued me into checking it out. Located along Hollywood Blvd., CAO Bakery & Café is a large Cuban-American style business that offers a variety of breakfast sandwiches and Cuban sandwiches, snacks, salads, bakery items, and cold/hot beverages. The business is clean with a few table seating both inside and outside. There is adequate parking though it can be filled very quickly, especially during lunch hours. Upon entering, my eyes immediately focused on the bakery items neatly displayed in the bakery cases. None of the items were labeled so it was difficult to figure out what was what. When a friendly female employee approached me, I asked her if they had any flan. She said yes and I ordered a small one. I sat at an available table and enjoyed my dessert. It was very delicious and creamy, Just enough to satisfy my palate, and for $3 was very reasonable. Seems like this business is doing well cause people are steadily coming in. First time ordering in a Cuban restaurant. I don't know the names of the pastries so I have to stand infront of them to order but the staff ask me to order where the cashier is but I don't know what to order unless I have to point the names of the pastries. So I have to walk back to the pastries display to get their names and walk back again to the cashier. I ordered a regular colada coffee, I thought it a big cup like a regular coffee but I did not know it's in a small cup like espresso.
