First and foremost, the service and warmth of the the lady running front of the house is the incredible. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you're amongst family. I can't speak enough about her she is a jewel. This was another Yelp recommendation while on vacation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Little strip mall location not much on the outside and inside the walls are filled with messages, signatures, drawings from previous guests.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] By chance we picked a table and above us was a drawing of the Golden Gate Bridge by another Northern California traveler. Since this would be our first experience with Cuban food we ordered two appetizers and two sandwiches. The plantain chips were sliced delicately thin and came out HOT and fresh in a very large portion. They were not overly crunchy but crisp. We appreciated how thin the slices were. They were good - it was something we wanted to try. Personally not sure we would do it again- but if you haven't tried would totally recommend. The next thing which looked interesting and everyone raved about was the tostones rellnos. Super interesting. Instead of a potato based cup it was a thick plantain. It was not sweet base and the texture was firm. I was expecting the ground beef filling to have some spice - it was rather bland. The vinegar based "hot" sauce made a big difference. The Cuban sandwich was good but different than the "Cuban's" we get back home. We later chalked that up to maybe this is traditional Cuban vs. California spin on Cuban which is packed with meat and has a spicy mustard and sometimes a sauce. Personally we wouldn't get this again. Highly recommended was the vaca frita (fried cow). The meal came with rice and another side and just looked like SO MUCH FOOD! So I got the sandwich version. The meat had so much flavor but was lost with all the bread so I ate it as an open face sandwich and it was delicious. We both thought this was the star of the meal. But agreed to get the traditional plate so the flavor can be fully appreciated. Still giving this 4 stars - outstanding service and rating it on the premise that this is true Cuban flavors that we are just not accustomed to and trying hard to not compare it to similar mexican dishes or over the top California imitations.

Was craving Cuban and found this spot - saw they had phenomenal reviews and was unfortunately extremely disappointed. Beans were watery, tasted like green olives, and flavorless. My ropa vieja was sour, fatty and the portion was so small. Rice was tasteless. Yuca was supposed to be soft and boiled, they were chopped into small bite sizes and just not appetizing. The entire meal tasted like complete seasoning... not very appetizing.

Really good Cuban food!! My only con was the tostones weren't very good. The service here was really what pushed me to leave this review... amazing service! We were here about a little over a week ago & the woman working was just great! Just very nice & made sure we were taken care of.

BEST CUBAN FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD!!! Juana La Cubana is absolutely incredible! Food is off the charts, fresh, flavorful, prepared with love, no matter what you get. On top of it their coffee is one of my favorites when it comes to cuban coffee in SoFlo. Service is the best! At this point I would say that we are friends with the waitresses Hehe - yes I go there a lot. Last but not least the place also has a cool vibe through the idea of allowing guests to write things on the walls to become a part of the Juana la Cubana community!

5 stars for service, food and value! Stopped in around 4pm on a Saturday. Was looking for lunch options in the area and found Juana on Yelp. This was a great find!! Our waitress was the only person front of house at the time. Nevertheless, she was attentive, patient and very friendly! My mom observed her rush to the door to open it for someone bringing in their elderly family member. She took her time with that table and it was nice to see that she showed so much respect to them. As far as the food - delicioso! Before our meals, we had cortaditos that were strong and only a little sweet as requested. In less than 10 minites, plates of food were headed our way. I had the picadillo with white rice, black beans and sweet plantain. My mom had the bistec empanizado (a breaded skirt steak covered with ham and swiss cheese) with moro rice (white rice mixed with black beans) and tostones. We both agreed that the food exceeded our expectations. Authentic flavors and perfect portions. The temperature of the food was excellent - steam was coming out of the rice. The taste was very fresh as if the food was cooked to order. We didn't intend to finish but nearly did and our happy bellies were set for the rest of the day. Overheard they've been open a total of 7 years with 5 being in this location. There is plenty of free parking available. I'm not often in the area but if I were in the future and found myself craving Cuban food, I would return with no hesitation.

Haven't been here in almost 3 years do to covid. I hoped they had survived because i couldn't wait to eat here again. Well, they are still open and still serving great food. I ordered my usual, breaded chicken, rice and beans plate. Just as I remembered. Really great fried chicken. Full of flavor, allot of food. Without a doubt, this is the best breaded chicken around. I would eat here a few times a week if I lived in the area. Instead, I'll just have to settle for once a month. It's worth a trip to this spot if your in the area. Lunch or dinner, it's a lot of food. You will love it. Trust me.

Amazing food and flavor. The server was welcoming and very nice. We didn't get her name but she was so friendly, warm, and made us feel at home. Apparently lots of locals come here, which is a good sign. Food was delicious. First time trying Cuban food and it's taste amazing!! It's delicious. I tried tostones Rellenos, Cuban sandwich, croquetas, vaca fritas, and cafe con leche. I even came back two times during my visit to Miami. The staff is nice and friendly. The staff was extremely attentive & super sweet. The food was impeccable & the colada is a must. The creamy cilantro & mole sauce were full of flavor & the homemade fries were not greasy at all. Everything our party of 5 got, was on point! Next time, we're in town, we'll most definitely return!

This little hole in the wall in a strip mall. I really liked it. Great service and so helpful and kind. Bottom line. Get what she recommends. So so good. We had the Cuban and pork dish and split them. The Cuban sandwich was basic but very good. French fries not greasy and crispy. Loved loved the pork and beans and plantains were perfect. BUT don't forget to order the cafe con leche and the Cuban coffee. Highly recommend.

This small, unassuming place is outstanding! Our server was so sweet and attentive. We started with cafe con leche which was tasty! We shared a Cuban sandwich which was delightful- perfectly seasoned pork, fresh bread, and extra pickles! The fries were yummy and we also shared some black beans and rice. The beans were absolutely delicious and seasoned so well. It's not a fancy place, but you know it's going to be good when the locals abound! The prices were also very reasonable. If you're looking for fresh, authentic, cuban food, definitely give this spot a try!

AMAZING!! Is the best way to describe this place and the experience. My mom was in the mood for some Cuban cuisine and I've had this restaurant booked marked for a couple of weeks now so I figured tonight was a great night to give them a try. The restaurant is small and on a quiet street. When you first walk in you're greeted with a smile. Mirna was a wonderful waitress. She was extremely attentive and just made our dining experience that much more enjoyable. We started out with an order mariquitas that were just delicious! Those were gone in seconds. I ordered my kiddos the chicken tenders to share that were so incredibly tasty that the adults took a couple of bites. My sister ordered their World Famous Cuban sandwich, my mom ordered their Palomia, my husband ordered their Bistec Empanizado, and I ordered their Vaca Frita. Everything was phenomenal!!! So good that there weren't any leftover to take home. Everything was seasoned to perfection. We finished the night with two flans and Cuban cafè If you're looking for authentic and delicious Cuban food, look no further. This is the spot!

We had dinner at Juana La Cubana Cafe on a Friday evening before seeing a show at Hard Rock Live at the Hard Rock Casino (it's only about a 10 minute drive to the casino). I read the reviews on Yelp and decided to try it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were the only people in there, which was a bit strange for a Friday evening at 7 (maybe it's more of a lunch place?).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The gentleman that took care of us was very nice and friendly. We had the cuban sandwich - I agree with some of the comments on Yelp that the sandwich was good quality, but somewhat bland. We tried the Vaca Frita (marinated skirt steak with sautéed onions on top), rice and tostones and the Pechuga De Pollo a La Plancha (chicken breast with onions on top). They were good. Also had a side of black beans and cilantro sauce. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The walls of the restaurants are filled with hand-written notes and signatures from previous patrons. I came straight here after airport. It was a bit early for dinner so there wasn't anyone when I got there around 5. I liked the vibe and the little tiki bar. The waitress was friendly. I ordered a Cubano sandwich. I would say that's not the best one that I've had but it was good. The bread was nicely toasted. I liked sweet plantain on the side. Overall it's a nice place to grab a quick bite. read more

Excellent food and great service! We are a group of 4 and visiting Fort Lauderdale. After a quick search on Yelp, this came up. We were all hungry so no photos but I had a cuban sandwich with fries. We had plantain chips and a fried yuca as a shared appetizer. First taste of a plantain chip, it was delicious and knew this place would be special. I also had 2 cuban espressos. I originally only planned drinking 1 but it was so good a second was absolutely necessary. Outside my sandwich the rest of my group ordered rice plates with beef, shrimp, and chicken. All excellent from what I tried. We ended strong on probably the best tres leches I've had. Others taste watery to me but this was sweet and flavorful. I'd come back a second and third time if I could. read more

To be fair, we ordered delivery and this service alone deserved all three of the stars - fast, accurate and food was still piping hot. Would we ever order again? Nope. Food was ok; we were hungry and it did the job. Flavor so-so, and the beef mince was for lack of a better term, too "mincey" and kind of unpleasant as a result. Was it the best Cuban we'd ever eaten? Certainly not. Also had the famous Cuban chicken and potatoes - again, just ok. But wait! The fried plantain?! Surprise- Delicious! read more

Amazing service and delicious food at this local favorite. Oscar prepared a catering order for me on short notice and my crew was elated. The Cuban's were delicious and they were able to do orders for both shifts separately. Show this place some love and out them on your must try list!! read more

Came to visit for an early dinner. I've always ordered take out & was in the area and got to stop by finally! When walking in you notice there is writing on the walls. Which I thought was really special seeing different signs & memories that people have when coming to Juana's. For our starter we had tostones rellenos which is stuffed plantains. It was stuffed with ground beef (also known as picadillo) Side note; they do put raisins in their picadillo. We added some hot sauce because were fancy. The tostone was crispy and paired with the picadillo tasted amazing! My husband has the palomilla steak with rice beans and maduros. I had the vaca frita with salad and tostones. The meats were seasoned very well onions were a great add on. Their rice has amazing flavor. And the salad was to help make me feel better of all the food I was eating lol. Simply the best ropa vieja I've had anywhere. Completely delicious, and without a trace of excess fat. Maybe a touch on the salty side, but I doubt I've ever felt otherwise at a Cuban restaurant. I ordered the small portion size (which was about the size of a sandwich) and my husband ordered the large portion (about the size of a sub). It was served with shoestring fries. Wow I was very impressed with this place. The menu said best Cuban so I had to try it. It definitely is worth the name. Also one of my biggest pet peeves is when you go to a place in south Florida and they assume you speak Spanish. This place speaks English first and they may struggle but it shows they are proud and where they are and where they came from. So A1 service and you can't get the ambiance wrong when you have Spanish music playing. Definitely coming back again. read more

Juana la Cubana Café originated in Guatemala, C.A. on February 23rd, 2001 under the name of Juana la Cubana Restaurant. After 12 successful years it was sold and Juana prepares to open its doors here in Florida as Juana la cubana Café. Juana la Cubana is bringing the original flavor of that home cooking that has been lost through the years. It is here at Juana that you will taste those typical plates of the Cuban gastronomy which have been so popular around the world. Here at Juana you will have the opportunity of tasting the delicious PORK ROAST which is one of the most traditional plates, let's not forget our PICADILLO a very popular plate of ground beef so richly seasoned and cooked with wine that it is out of this world. I've been a loyal customer of this amazing Cuban restaurant for over a decade, ever since Yelp first led me to their old location. Even now, it's still the best Cuban spot in the area--better than ever, in my opinion! This restaurant is the labor of love of two brothers who opened it as a tribute to their late father's restaurant in California. Every day, they honor his memory with their warm hospitality and authentic Cuban cuisine. Antonio, one of the owners, works the front of the house like a true host, making you feel like family. You'd never know he's the owner because he's always hustling--refilling drinks, clearing plates, or handling checks. It's clear he's passionate about the guest experience and leads by example. The food? Simply outstanding. The mariquitas are my absolute favorite--crispy and fresh every single time (though I always wish for more of them!). The croquetas are perfection, always hot and never soggy, and the portions here are generous, especially compared to other Cuban spots. My go-to entree is the Vaca Frita, served with perfectly cooked sweet plantains (slightly crunchy edges, golden inside) and their incredible yuca frita. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, and the desserts with a side of Cuban coffee are the perfect way to end your meal. This isn't just a restaurant--it's a small, family-owned business that's part of our community. Drove to this place based on Yelp ratings. Decor and atmosphere is geared towards a quick lunch. Food: Ropa vieja was only halfway lazily shredded, very clumpy to the point I had to use a knife to slice off pieces (shred that beef!)- the slabs of whole meat chunks were not tasty and quite unappetizing. The rice and beans were just ok- wouldn't say tasty. The wife had the steak and onions. Never had a place mess up fried onions before but the onions here were soggy and tasteless. Maybe should switch to Spanish or sweet onions? The steak was an unusually pale color and again- tasteless. My son had the Cuban sandwich- took 2 bites and wrapped it up to go. The good: Cuban coffee, the maduros and the service. The area this place is located in doesn't have much going on, I therefore think the rave reviews are a result of a lack of decent neighborhood food and not because the food was outstanding - it wasn't (at all). Part of me wanted to leave more stars based on service alone but the part that drove here to be wowed by delicious Cuban food says otherwise. read more

Flew into Ft Lauderdale to get away from the cold and went looking for a cubano. Found Juana's on Yelp and couldn't have been happier.
