I needed to fly to Lake Placid for work and used American Airlines who booked me to connect in BOS to a Cape Air flight to SLK. It was a long, but easy walk from the terminal I landed in to Terminal C to check-in for this flight. Checking in was a cinch - Just show an ID, let them weigh my carry-on and backpack, give them my weight and then they tagged my baggage and gave me a boarding pass. When boarding, it was an easy walk down the stairs to the tarmac where we walked to the plane and boarded it. The ground crew and pilot and first officer on the plane were helpful, explained the trip to us and we were on our way. The flight was smooth and the landing was nice. Plane is VERY loud though, so definitely wear some ear protection or headphones. I'd definitely fly them again! read more

Cape Air should be embarrassed by the people they have working the desk. My flight was at 10:29, I got to the desk at 10:01. That's two minutes past their cutoff, fine, rules are rules, but the way I was treated was disgusting. One agent actually said, "I don't want to but the pilot said yes." The other snapped, "You the guy who just showed up?" and then called me a liar when I told her I had been there twenty minutes earlier. I had photo proof from my watch at the desk at 10:03, and she still doubled down. Here's the kicker: the flight still left on time and landed so early that we deplaned 25 minutes ahead of schedule. So all their nasty attitude, eye-rolling, and name-calling wasn't about the schedule at all, it was just pure unprofessionalism. If Cape Air thinks this kind of behavior is acceptable, it says a lot about how little they value their passengers. Those ladies put the anis in Hyannis. The pilots were wonderful and the landing was impeccable. So bravo to the fellas with the wings! read more

Unreliable and shady. I've had two flights changed the evening before early morning scheduled departure and they will not refund your money if you can't make the new flight time. After being assured by two different reps that I had plenty of time to make my connection in Boston, the last minute flight changes would make it impossible. The flights would now land in Boston 1/2 hour AFTER the main, connecting flight would depart. Yet they refused to refund my ticket price. They actually blamed JetBlue for THEIR delay and refusal to refund! Mickey Mouse operation that won't get a chance to fleece me a third time. read more

I had a great experience on Cape Air. Flew Boston to Saranac Lake since I needed to be in Lake Placid for a few days. I paid ~$100 each way. Even though they allow "carry ons" and a "personal item", these items are not allowed on the plane with you. Your personal item ends up going in a wing locker. I was a bit taken aback by this since I was carrying some highly confidential work paperwork with me. But the staff was great and locked the locker as soon as I put my bag in. There is no WiFi on the plane. And no restrooms either. But you fly quite a bit lower than true commercial and the views are spectacular. Flying Cape Air should be on everyone's bucket list. read more

Flights are usually late. Boston gate staff are jerks. Their IT and customer service are poor. The terminal at Logan is like a bus terminal, but not as friendly. That said, they get you to places no one else flies, like Rutland VT, the price is fair, and it's fun if the weather is clear. Bring headphones! read more

I would give a zero if I could. Everything I fly this airline my Iuggage gets bumped for wight issues. Usually, not a big deal. Recently on my flight from Rockland, Maine to Boston, as per usual my luggage gets bumped. The only problem is that when I landed in Boston (6 hours between flights) I was departing for Morocco on a 17 day tour. I was told by a woman at Cape Air in Rockland, Maine that my luggage was being delayed and would arrive in the next cape air flight to Boston. The only problem is that my flight to casablanca departed Boston before the next cape air flight landed. No one at cape air cared. No one took ownership to make sure my luggage was forward to casablanca. One women in rockland, Maine even said to me she didn't care about my luggage. She was very supportive of the fact that I had to put my Irish Wolfhound down the night before my vacation. She said, to be honest the only thing I care about is your dog. I had to change my entire itinerary to make sure I was in casablanca when my luggage arrives. No communication, no one at cape air remotely owned this or cared. I pay cape air to get me to a destination witg my luggage. This is not acceptable at all. Avoid flying with this disastrous airline at all costs. read more

I took CapeAir for the first time recently as I was making my way up to Augusta for a friend's wedding. Rather than driving more than 6.5 hours (if you exclude breaks of any sorts and traffic), I figured to instead fly from EWR to Boston (JetBlue) and then from Boston to Augusta in CapeAir. Normally, you can book your entire roundtrip to/from Augusta using JetBlue or any of the other partner airlines. It's probably better to do it just in case the CapeAir flight gets delayed, which is possible in bad weather. I ended up booking separately because it was turning out cheaper to do so and I was trying to minimize connection time. I think the MCT in Logan is around 30-45 minutes, so I timed by return to depart at 7am to get to Logan for a 9am JetBlue flight. I think the MCt is around 30-45 mins, so that's probably why I couldn't book thru JetBlue, idk. With that said, one thing I'd suggest if you're connecting in Logan is to connect to an airline in the same terminal (Terminal C). I did JetBlue which was perfect because I just needed 5 mins or less to get to my gate. That also prevents you having to go thru security again. With that said, the flight was pretty fun honestly. I wish I could have sat in the front, but it was someone's birthday so gotta give them priority. The pilots were pretty nice and the time spent to board and deplane is pretty quick. If you wanna bet on the weather and don't plan on bringing much with you (i.e. a weekend trip), I'd certainly consider this option read more

This is based on a flight from BOS to Provincetown: While the flight itself it short, fun, and interesting, the main problem with Cape Air is reliability of schedule - i.e. Will the flight depart on time, if at all? Be prepared that you will be asked your weight when you check-in. That was fine...but then - in my case -- it turned out there were two planes going to P'town. They assigned us to the aircraft based on weight, and I was assigned to the 2nd aircraft...which departed a full hour after the first one. As for my return flight to Boston: Cape Air canceled the flight about three hours before departure. So, to get back to Boston, I took the ferry. While the ferry is a 90-minute ride (and can sometimes be delayed), I would recommend anyone take the ferry over Cape Air. Cape Air is simply too unreliable. read more

As soon as everybody was situated on the plane. The flight left on time. I would fly Cape Air again to Nantucket. read more

I am exhausted from an international flight and William made me feel like I was the only person he had dealt with all day. What an asset to the Cape Air team. You want to ride a bus into Maine in a rainstorm and get dropped off 4 miles from your hotel. You want to walk 4 miles in the middle of the night in December in a rainstorm on a pitch black road. You want to meet boozed up moose hunters that offer you water and a ride the other way in a rusted out Blazer. You want to receive a call from Cape Air the next day telling you they "might not fly the return flight the following day" as per my ticket. You want to find out there's no rental cars anywhere in 200 miles. You want to be told to "forget it" by Delta, American and Cape Air when asking for a refund. You want to find out how the airlines coordinate this farce. You want to converse with a bot for hours about travel when you are trying to get a refund. You want to find out how bad air travel is. He said to buy it online except that online there are no seats available. He can see seats available and still has refused to sell me a ticket. read more

From check in with an amazing agent who was kind to our small children and a lot of fun to our quick on time departure and pilot. Long story short. Luggage never got off the plane at the destination. Was told they were short staffed on the ground and we had a connecting flight to make. Spent several hours a day over 6 days of our vacation trying to locate and receive the luggage. Super frustrating and they have no infrastructure to support their operations. read more

Cape Air is great on the rare occasion it operates well. Most of my flights are late or canceled. They have no pilot, or no plane, or mechanical problem. You receive an email stating We regret to inform you that your flight is canceled. That's it! Little to no help getting to your destination. If you know the right people, you may get a cab covered. They hide behind every loop hole possible. Unfortunately I purchased a pass which is 10 tickets. The good news is I finish them on my next and final trip with Cape Scare. If you fly them, plan ahead with lots of back ups at your own expense. read more

I happened to enjoy the wonderful service by Cape Air during my flight from Boston to Martha's Vineyard. The airlines terminal is tucked at one corner of the logan airport. When I arrived some the flights were cancelled and others were running late. The weather was crappy which madedifficult for cape air to operate the flights. The staff at the kiosk made sure to answer all the questions and helped us by providing alternate way of transport to reach martha's vineyard. But luckily the weather turned good after some time and they resumed the flights. The funny part was the 9 seater plane which flies between boston and the vineyard, it was so tiny.I happened to take the co pilot seat, the pilot was a cool dude. He made the entire 45 minutes journey very enjoyable. I hope to fly with them in coming future. read more

I was booked RT on them but when I arrived at the airport from LA a blizzard was hitting the NorthEast, the airport I was heading to was closing for the day and mine was about to as well. So I had to make other plans to complete my trip. Long story short, the return part of the flight went well. It was on time and arrived in Boston early. The plane was very small, a Cessna 402, which holds 10 people including the pilot. So small that even your carry on has to be weighed and placed carefully in the hold. As it only flies at 5000 ft or so, you get outstanding views, but not good for those with plane phobias, as you are right there with the pilot and you see it all happening. Can be roller coaster bumpy in windy conditions. Also, you have to climb up and crouch in over the wing to get on it, so don't fly with any injury or if you're not fit and limber. But I enjoyed it and was very pleased to learn that I got a full refund of the cancelled portion of my flight. I've flown them before and will again. read more

My family really enjoyed our flight from BOS down to MYV. The pilot was a real pro. Even cooler, was the fact that they allow one passenger to sit next to pilot, as I did on our return trip. They're small, and this allows themselves to be flexible. I will use them again. read more

Gate 27 at BOS is always a disaster. Today no departure information on the screens so everyone keeps walking up and asking about their flights. Most of which, for some reason, are delayed. But no information or announcements from the gate agents about flight status, so it just gets people more anxious and stressed. read more

First they bumped me to another flight and then put me on standby for the first flight I had originally booked (6 MONTHS AGO) so this wouldn't happen. Then all of a sudden we are walking to the plane and she comes up again and tells me that they have to bump me to a later flight. FOR NO REASON. The women who work here are unorganized and unprofessional. They have no idea what they are doing and have papers flying all over the gate area. I am beyond exhausted having just flown in from Los Angeles on a red eye!!! They basically said it doesn't matter I was on a red eye and I have no control over the situation (even though I paid an absurd $600 for this one way 30 minute flight) After being in the airport for 6 extra hours I am finally going to get to my destination. At the risk of sounding like Donald Trump, this airline is staffed by a bunch of lightweights. My flight on Cape Air from Boston to Lebanon/Hanover, NH got cancelled. Not only was Cape Air not communicative at all about the nature of the delay and ultimate cancellation, but they did not take care of me at all as a customer. There were no flights they could place me on, nor did they offer vouchers for my meal or even bus tickets so I could get to Hanover. No apologies at all. The agents were dumbfounded when I asked them for proof of cancellation, so that I could submit a claim to my travel insurance through my credit card company. On a busy summer day, the sole Cape Air gate at Logan Airport is like a special purgatory for the well-heeled. Passengers are forced to endure lengthy waits while the thickly accented tween employees provide little or no information about the status of their delayed flights. The best way to pass the time is to identify the Nantucket-bound passengers based solely on visual prejudices. Keep your eyes peeled for tanned white skin, shoes worn without socks, matching fancy luggage, pink or red clothing, and a hangover (or possibly still drunk). If you are fortunate enough to find yourself on a departing flight that is not so late that it misses daylight hours, passengers are treated to lovely views from the airline's low-flying Cessna prop planes. You may even be lucky and asked to occupy the co-pilot's seat because... there is only one pilot on your flight! Pray that your pilot does not suffer an inflight heart attack brought on by one too many coffee regulahs. Plunging into the Vineyard Sound is not how I want to go. Unfortunately, between Air Wisconsin's unreliable one daily flight from Washington National and JetBlue's one daily flight from Kennedy, Cape Air may be the best option, particularly for Vineyard flyers hailing from points west. Just be prepared to roll with the punches (or to end up on the Steamship Authority anyway) while you savor the MOCHaHAGTDI spirit! read more

When they 'helped' me re-book my connection with American, they lied about it...not once...but three times. They were completely understaffed for something like this, which might be expected for a small airline. But really? You can't update the flight boards to reflect the delay? Not even after the flights have been delayed over an hour? It was difficult to change my connecting flight when the airline was still trying to insist the first leg of my flight had left on time. I have never been treated worse and would NEVER recommend this air line. First if your flight originates on Cape Air you can not precheck online or use any real airline apps. I ended up taking CapeAir from BOS to Provincetown over Halloween because I neglected to check the ferry schedule (my usual mode of transit to PTown) before booking and -- surprise! -- no ferry. After reading some of the venemous reviews here I was really worried. My (so far) one and only experience with CapeAir was positive. One change in my itinerary prior to departure was communicated to me by phone and email. My return flight was cancelled due to weather - this was also communicated to me by phone and email with the option to rebook or get a refund. This is what blew me away - Fare. Refunded. I cannot think of one other time any other airline has refunded my fare. Ever. For any reason. No, I probably won't make a habit of CapeAir to Provincetown (since I spent more time in the cab to/from the airport than in the air) but that is not a reflection on their service. read more

In all honesty here, this is the worst airline, anywhere in the world, I have ever dealt with. There were a couple of good people that were helpful, but there were several more that were under trained and generally not people you would ever want to converse with unless absolutely necessary. Wow, I'm surprised by all of the poor reviews for Cape Air! I think it's a case of people with very bad experiences venting their frustrations, not enough of us people who had good but not GREAT experiences. Anwyay, that's me. I connected from a flight from LA in Boston early the other morning, made it to the Cape Air gate a full flight before mine was scheduled to leave, and in a matter of a minute they had me booked on the earlier flight! Boarding was super easy, it was five of us walking out on the tarmac to the plane, then a quick review of emergency protocol from the pilot, then a SUPER quick taxi (seriously, we just flew down to the end of the runway, turned around and went) and then a very fast flight to Martha's Vineyard. I've heard that in bad weather these small planes can make your stomach turn, but fortunately we had blue skies. Great views of the Cape on the way to the island, then a smooth landing. After another SUPER quick taxi job, we were off the plane and into the bliss of Martha's Vineyard! Can't complain for a second, especially when the alternative to flying is a long bus ride followed by a ferry ride. I saved hours! read more

We bought tickets for travel from Boston to Nantucket. The Selectboard has restricted travel to the island. We are at risk Seniors. We were given a credit for future travel that we can't use.
