My mom at 92 was living with my sister. She has dementia. Very hard of hearing and refuses to wear…read moreany hearing aids. She had polio as a child resulting in a fused sensitive ankle leaving her using a walker. She's a three time breast cancer survivor. She's been a widow for 27 years, and still mourns my dad and wears her wedding ring. When she became incontinent, stopped bathing and pretty much stopped eating, we knew that my sister couldn't keep talking care of her. She found this place Bourne Manor that was literally less than 10 minutes from where my sister lived and had a bed available. We both went in and spoke with a woman that took us on a tour and gave us the rundown. The first floor looked ok. We later met with the medical staff and went over my mom's medical and personal needs. Most importantly that she is Jewish. Not that we expected kosher food, but NO HAM... NO PORK...NO MILK WITH MEAT! Very clear. My sister couldn't get there every day. I live about an hour away, now in Aug it takes me 90min to get there. Initially they said my mom got up, made her bed, got dressed, and went into the social room and watched TV with the rest of the patients. Sounds like my mom, but I doubt it's true. Then she was moved up to the 2nd floor. Why??? Don't know. I went in with a nice friendly attitude and brought 3 dozen cookies for the staff. The next time I visited my mom was in a wheelchair, no more walker. And I got a call that she tried to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and fell on her bum and was bruised. Then I go in and they're giving her ham and cheese for dinner! I threw it. Next she no longer can go to the bathroom. She goes in a diaper and they change it when they get to it. They sent in a male nurse because all of the women took a break at the same time. Every time I go ,I ask if she ate, no one knows. She went in about 100 lbs. Now she can't be more than 90. Yesterday I was there and she was sleeping. I tried to wake her up like I always do. She really didn't wake up. She really didn't look at me. She was mumbling. I couldn't understand what she was saying. Not really sure that she knew who I was. It's been 6 months. She is the strongest person I know. So much tragedy in her life and she pulled through all of it. This place ignores her. They forget to feed her. They made her sit in piss for hours. Where are HER clothes? Where is HER comforter? No one has a f'ing clue, and no one cares. But they sent a bill for 10,000.00 because apparently she was supposed to be admitted from a hospital?!?! Don't remember hearing that day one. Did I mention that the place stinks like piss!! I brought in plugins. They are killing her slowly. Lawyer, Lawyer The only way that this place could improve is to close, clean, and find people that give a shit.

I was admitted to BM with Covid. I also have advanced primary progressive MS. which, with Covid,…read morecauses extreme weakness. I found the staff at BM to be very kind and friendly which I feel is very important. the food was pretty standard hospital food, neither good or unpalatable. I had several instances where medications were not given or the wrong medications provided. I had to review what was being offered each time meds were proffered. because I had Covid, PT and OT were limited to 5 minute sessions in the room. even during the two days where I was pronounced Covid negative, I received minimal treatment. i appreciated the fact that an attendant came promptly every time I called for help. it can be very frustrating when that is not the case.
