What a pleasant surprise…read more As we were making our way down the Oregon Coast, we decided to stop here because it was extremely foggy. Foggy mornings equal great morning walks for me. What we didn't realize was that there was a large campground tucked behind the dunes, because in the dense fog, we couldn't see much of anything. We ended up walking the very secluded beach for several hours until the fog began to lift. The beach is open to everyone, even if you're not camping, and it stretches for miles in both directions with soft sand the entire way. Sometimes those random, unplanned stops end up being the best discoveries. If I ever decide to camp, this is absolutely a place I'd look into. The campground is literally right on the water. And if you're just exploring the beach, there's plenty of free parking all around and no admission fees required.

The river was very nice to drink morning coffee from and my husband enjoyed a late evening cigar while watching the river. Crabbing was a blast. The RV Park had showers and restrooms which is a huge plus. All in all it was a great time, and we will definitely return. one thing that could make it just a tad better is a kids area. Every morning I went to take a shower, there were two lovely Forest Service dressed ladies cleaning the restrooms and showers. They were smiling and pleasant. Yes. Some campers will mess up the restrooms which cannot be helped, but this campground was on it. Our restroom had 8 individual private showers, one was wheelchair accommodating. This park was paved and had well marked trails leading to Dunes, or across a sky bridge to the lake. The Dunes also had a small lake which you could rent Kayaks, paddle boats, and fishing poles. The park had many places for family reunions, or weddings. They also had a boat launch for both lakes, and a dump station. Oh yes! They also had garbage, recycling, and propane can recycling too. There were well marked signs of campsites, and warnings. This place was great!
