Sandwich in the Grab &Go case clearly priced $12

Just a heads-up for locals and visitors shopping at Cape Porpoise Kitchen in Kennebunkport. Today I picked up a premade chicken salad sandwich clearly marked with a price sticker showing "$12" and a sell-by date of 5/21. When I got to the register, I was told the sandwich was actually $15 because "the computer price had gone up" and they "hadn't gotten around to changing the prices yet." I pointed out that the package itself literally had "$12" printed on it with a dollar sign. The cashier acknowledged the sticker said $12 but still insisted I had to pay $15 because the register price overrode the labeled price. I understand mistakes happen, but if an item is labeled one price and customers are charged another at checkout, that's not acceptable. People should pay close attention to what they're being charged, especially for premade foods and grab-and-go items. There are plenty of local places around here that still believe in fair pricing and honoring the price marked on the product. I know where I'll be spending my money going forward.

There may come a vacation to KPT where we do not visit Cape Porpoise Kitchen for lunch. There could possibly be a vacation to KPT where we visit Cape Porpoise Kitchen and fail to share a sienna panini (roasted red peppers, cheese, chicken, artichokes, oil and spices). There could be a vacation in the future to KPT where we order a sienna panini and not truly enjoy it though I seriously doubt it.

Right off the beaten path is this place. The spenecopita was delicious. Bean burgers, salads. Breakfast English muffin. Grilled Asparagus. Bean salads. Baked cookies. Wines and cheeses. Coffee. Great place overall!

I rate this a 4.5. There are tons of good food options and dessert options. The staff was very nice, I ordered for a pickup and it took 10 minutes. By the time I got there it was ready to go. Very nice and hard working staff. I got the river club, food was very fresh and tasty to the mouth. Only problem I had today was the amount of meat they put in my club. I guess better safe than sorry, but wow they tried to give me the meat sweats. #ImSweating

Great seafood reasonable priced. Small seating area overlooking the water. Discovered this had a scene shot in a Paul Newman movie.

Such a cute little find in Cape Porpoise…read more We used to love Pier 77 and it's been years since we've been back down because they closed. The online presence and menu for Casa Seventy Seven has always been a bit underwhelming from a web-visitor point of view which kept us away. Well we finally made our way down and I'm glad we did! On a whim we thought we'd try the big sister upstairs, Ultramar, however you really do need a reservation. No worries, they said, check out downstairs. It's funny how when you're hungry and sitting, the menu looks a lot more agreeable! We both got clam chowders to start and they're definitely not your traditional New England Clam Chowder. They had a lighter, less cream based broth and it was really full of clams, potatoes, a bit of corn maybe, something crunchy. Also it came out hot. Like hot-hot. It was legit good. Like 9/10. We also sampled the Hamburger and the Caesar Salad. Both were great! Tones of flavor. Not too heavy. Caesar salad had some yummy fresh anchovies. I will say that the salad did look a bit tossed together and it could have been a prepared with a bit more care but the flavor was still great. I'd definitely come back to enjoy some sunshine and fried seafood on the cute patio, watching the professional fisherman do their thing.

Food is over priced and small servings. But the service makes it a one star. Every year we think…read morethe horrible service and mediocre food is fluke. 6 small (size of a quarter) scallops for $32 is not acceptable imo Nope consistently delivers 1 Star. The staff is not trained and management is rudderless. The wait staff leave dirty dishes on the table even as they deliver the bill. Could be an amazing place but it's not.

I swear the people reviewing this little deli are confusing it for the wrong place just based on…read moresome of the details in the posts. #1, there is no "cook" behind anyone. It is one guy running the deli by himself, and he is awesome! There are no "kids" running the cash register. #2, there is no guy with blonde curly hair behind the counter. I suspect this is because the location is falsely showing up as by the bridge, not around the corner in front of Abacus. Ok, so here is my review. Sorry no pics. We come from CT to the Old Salt Pantry just for their lobster rolls. A few weeks ago when we visited for a few days we went there *every day*, it is that good. My wife is an aficianado of lobster rolls and we know virtually every place, touristy or otherwise. And by far these are the best lobster rolls to be found. He makes a really good BLT sandwich that is among my favorites too! The trick, we once found, is that he uses a combination of clarified butter and a touch of mayonnaise on his cold lobster salad. Just don't expect to get a hot CT style lobster roll unless you ask for it.

I honestly thought I'd found a hidden gem. Kennebunkport in July is absolute chaos, and somehow…read morethis place was completely empty. I figured I'd hit the jackpot--an egg sandwich, no line, protein, perfect. I ordered an egg sandwich, was told it would take 10-15 minutes, and was asked to come back. No problem. I returned about 10 minutes later and quietly waited while my sandwich was being finished. I was the only customer in the entire place. The employee looked at me and said, "You need to wait outside." Outside? For what? The place was empty. When I asked why, he said it was because it was a small space. At that exact moment, two fellow tourists walked in, heard him tell me to leave, exchanged the universal "nope" look, and immediately turned around and walked back out. I can't say I blamed them. By that point I was so uncomfortable that I asked to cancel my order. He refused. So there I was--banished to the sidewalk in extreme heat, unable to cancel, waiting for my egg sandwich. I'll admit, my imagination started running wild about why I apparently wasn't allowed to witness its preparation. I'm sure there are innocent explanations, but being told to leave an empty restaurant while your food is being made isn't exactly confidence-inspiring. The sandwich itself was...fine. Perfectly ordinary. The proportions were not generous in terms of egg to bread ratio. Definitely not memorable enough to justify the price, and unfortunately I'd already left a tip before the hospitality portion of the experience began. If your business model is "Please leave while we make your food, but also you can't cancel it," you may want to rethink customer service. Kennebunkport has no shortage of places to eat. I'd recommend choosing literally any of the ones where you're allowed to exist indoors while waiting for your breakfast sandwich.
