After spending much of the morning driving to and around Cape Elizabeth we returned to Kennebunk and decide to try this restaurant for a late lunch. We shared an Italian hoagie that proved to be light in the meat department, but otherwise quite tasty.

Top notch place. Amazing espresso made with beans from Portlands local coffee roaster (Tandem Coffee Roaster). All of the flavor syrups are homemade and the lattes are 11/10. The food is delicious. I got the breakfast burrito and it was huge. The cinnamon bun was homemade and so good. They also have gluten free tortillas for breakfast tacos and gluten free breakfast for breakfast sandwiches. Everything is made fresh so the food took slightly longer then 10 minutes to come out. Food was served on a nice warm plate :)! The staff is super friendly and helpful. There is plenty of space to enjoy your food and coffee inside. Overall this is the best latte in the area by far!

We've been meaning to get to Bev's for breakfast for a while. I was worried that it would be crazy busy on a Saturday, but we were able to get a table quickly in their open and airy dining room. The huge windows let in tons of light! The employee at the counter says that they're super busy weekdays in the off-season, and then when the summer people come, it's pretty busy on weekends, too. Glad we hit it right. The staff was really helpful with suggestions. What a fantastic spot! They're also open for lunch and a little later with beer and wine offerings!

The chorizo burrito was a revelation, served hot off the griddle! It had crispy cheese toasted on the outside. Delicious!!!

For our food, the meat pie was so flavorful and fresh. My mom loved her eggs Benedict, and we split a blueberry pancake which was delicious. The homemade whipped cream and real maple syrup really topped it off great. I NEED to try the blueberry French toast or crepes so we will be back!! My only complaint was how busy it was. We made a reservation and we weren't seated until around 20 minutes after that time slot. Not a big deal, but there's really no good place to stand and we constantly we were in the way of other guests/servers. Anyone trying to walk in quickly left after hearing it was a 1.5 hour wait for a table so reservations are a MUST. We came on a weekend in October. Additionally, the room we were seated in was only heated by one small heater so it was pretty chilly. But totally worth it for the food! Staff was also very attentive and friendly despite how busy it was.

Very clear to all customers. we had a waitress named Tracy and she was like a gal on steroids. Tracy was kind but notably fast as lightning but we never felt rushed. She was full of recommendations (i.e. Goose Rocks Beach) and was friendly and kind without being overbearing. We showed up a bit late and the key was left in a coded lock box for us. The room was compact, but fine for my husband and I for our 2 night stay. We knew beforehand that breakfast would be boxed for us and that was fine. I was happy that they provided yogurt was Chobani and actually had some protein in it (unlike most continental breakfasts that are a carb party). We rented bikes and kayaks during our stay. It was great that they had these for us to utilize. The bikes should be covered during storage, however. They were a bit rusty. This was the priciest place that we stayed during our 7 night trip, but I wouldn't consider it the best. After our stay, I do feel that our stay should not have cost us so much.

This was a lovely B&B close to town. It was immaculate and very appealing. Our room was right on…read morethe bay and had a great deck with New England style comfy reclining seating. The room was beautiful and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The room was a little tight on space and the toilet is right next to the door so is a little awkward. Modern power plugs convenient to the bed were not in evidence. There was a sitting chair but no where to sit and eat or to work. The desk folks were very nice and helpful with local suggestions for eating and things to do. ***VERY not happy with the continental breakfast. You shouldn't list yourself as a B&B and have continental breakfast. Being a B&B implies hot breakfast... period!*** Not only that, there was hardly anything on it... there was only orange juice, coffee, and tea... no apple or any other kind of juice. There was yogurt and fruit but there was only one kind of cereal (Cheerios), only 2 kinds of bread... white and wheat... No pastries, muffins, bagels, croissants, rolls, English muffins, doughnuts, etc. To be fair, I think there was oatmeal and there was banana bread that was pretty good. The one good thing I can say about the breakfast is that it was available at 7:30am instead of 8:30 like some of the other B&Bs we stayed at on this trip. ***Almost all of the other reviews of this place had HOT breakfast on them so I guess we were just ripped off.*** I would love to give this place a great review and I would probably have come back if it weren't for the breakfast ripoff.

We started the evening with cocktails which were very much to our liking, followed by a delicious appetizer of lobster risotto that we shared. We both ordered the short ribs which were mouthwatering and cooked to perfection that the meat fell off the bone. The servings were enough where we took the bones and whatever meat was left to make a delicious beef soup. Neither one of us were up for dessert but decided to get two to go, which we downed once we got home. And they were both delicious. In closing, I'd be remiss without saying a good word about our server Keila. She was warm, friendly, funny, and very attentive to our table. She made our night to enjoyable! Thanks you Keila ! We look forward to our next visit to The Village Inn soon.

If you loved Village Tavern under the previous owners, you should know that the beloved restaurant you remember no longer exists. The name is the same. The esthetic is the same. Some menu items even have the same names. But the experience is not. During our visit, the calamari, salmon, duck, and haddock were all cooked properly, yet each dish was surprisingly bland and forgettable. Many longtime favorites, including the wide selection of side dishes like the broccoli with blue cheese, are gone. This isn't a bad restaurant on its own merits. The problem is that it's trading on the reputation of something that no longer exists. What I find most puzzling is that the new owners kept the Village Tavern name while abandoning so much of what made it successful. When a restaurant has earned decades of loyalty, you would expect new ownership to preserve its strengths. Instead, it feels like they discarded the very things that built its reputation. I left disappointed, but mostly sad. A restaurant I once considered one of the best in Southern Maine is now simply pedestrian and overly priced. Former fans should adjust their expectations accordingly or avoid the disappointment altogether.
