Service was especially slow and had attitude, I would find another place to eat. Too many other choices.

I was apart of a birthday celebration and coming in we had to wait to be seated for 10 minutes . When finally seated we had an additional wait time of about 25 min to even get drink orders and appetizers. At this time we just decided to ordered everything at once . Drink I ordered was the Play De Do which consisted of light and dark rum and a combination of orange and pineapple juices. Very watery. Food we ordered was Caesar Salad which was good. Shrimp and crawfish etoufee, was good but lukewarm , if it was hot it would have been delicious and seasoned well. Crispy catfish and buttermilk shrimp entrees , good as well just lukewarm. I attached the description of entrees below. The waitress we had I can say she worked and was professional, in her defense she can't do it all. She needed help and it showed. You cannot have a party of 20 and one waitress and expect food and drinks to come out hot and strong. This review was not for any negative purpose this should be a learning opportunity to get managers to roll up sleeves and pitch in more if staffing is on shortage for that day. For pricing of food and drinks and the ambiance supposed to be of high scale, I was not impressed. Coming from out of time I probably won't be back to see if changes were made . read more

So we came here for our anniversary (it's a Monday) and we ended up waiting about 20 minutes for a table. Once seated our server told us he was going to get waters. He took our appetizer and drink orders. We never saw him again but another server came and we had to repeat what we asked from the previous server. I decided to go ahead and place our entree order so we could get that rolling as well. We had to wait a bit for the bottle of wine we ordered because they couldn't find a bottle. We were told we got the last one. The food was good. No complaints there. The crab fingers appetizer was really good. We didn't get a picture because we were ready to eat something. Our entrees arrived and were hot and good. The service is what seemed to be lacking here. With a ticket at almost $100 on a Monday night I hate we had to wait so long I everything and the servers seemed to forget we asked for another glass of wine, dinner rolls, and a refill on the glasses of water we had. My mother and I dined at this establishment on March 30, 2024 and were very disappointed with the service and our food. When the hostess sat us down, we had to wait 30 minutes for a waiter to come to our table even though the restaurant was not busy at all. We had to ask a busser staff member if we had a waiter and he walked off without saying anything to us. When our waitress finally came to our table, she took our drink order and didn't give us a chance to say anything else. Our waitress didn't smile or welcome us to the restaurant like a professional waiter/waitress should did in an upscale restaurant environment like this. She came back 10 minutes later with our drinks and took our order. Once the waitress took our order, we had wait at least an hour for our food to arrive at our table. When my mother asked our waitress how long will it take for the food to arrive to our table, the waitress rudely stated, "there's other tables in front of ours that's waiting for their food also." We waited so long for our food that it was to the point I wanted to pay for our drinks and walked out the restaurant. Our food finally arrived 20 minutes after my mother asked our waitress about our food being ready. When our food arrived, it was tasteless and overpriced. I had to seasoned my catfish with hot sauce to give it some tastes. By the way, the owner of the establishment was very rude and verbally attacked me and my mother during a telephone call we had with him just because he doesn't agree with a review I've privately sent for him to review. He kept denying the issue my mother and I had with his establishment and insults us by stating, "this isn't McDonald's" as if we only eat there and other fast food joints. We have dined at fine local establishments around town and all over the world and never dealt with an unprofessional rude owner like the one at this restaurant. If the owner would have handle the situation in a professional manner, then I may give them another chance and may not leave a review on this site because I believe in giving an establishment another chance to work things out before leaving a negative review on reviews sites. However, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant at all due to how unprofessional the owner handle the situation over our experience we had at his restaurant (Capers). read more

We went to celebrate 2 birthdays.. The appetizer was amazing. We got the tuna wontons- great fresh flavor. Filet mignon was perfectly cooked and mashed potatoes very flavorful. This is a hidden jewel in west LR. However, it wasn't so hidden when I was there. LOTS of open family seating and snug intimate seating as well. Great ambiance and it was very busy, but the wait staff handled things nicely. Oh, the food, right. My wife picked a spot for us with another couple (friends of ours) who had the same wedding anniversary date as ours. Our food was really good. Everyone else loved their dish. I ordered the shrimp and it came with mashed potatoes and some sort of cream corn with couscous. I was surprised of the type of sides that I had (two starches), but that only meant I didn't pay attention the menu when I ordered - my bad - having too much fun with friends. However, my food was hot & filling. I will go back again soon, but I will order something different next time...and pay more attention. read more

Exquisite restaurant! Starting with the welcoming ambiance right when you walk in. Very inviting and intimate. The food is delicious. I've had several things on their menu and have not been disappointed once. Their salmon paired with the homemade mango salsa is such a good combination. The bone in pork chop is a top contender as well. But my go to is their Filet Mignon, paired with the loaded mashed potatoes. I always add the crawfish cream sauce. It is the perfect addition to the steak that was cooked perfectly medium as I requested. The wait staff and manager are fantastic. So friendly and welcoming. Very attentive. We had not been to this restaurant in years and thought we would give it a try. We were very disappointed. The grouper looked intriguing as it "Grouper Dijon $23.95 herb-encrusted grouper filet finished with a dijon caper sauce on a bed of fresh spinach paired with wild rice casserole." It was a piece of fried fish! it looked like it had been breaded frozen and was topped with a dollop of tartar sauce that tasted like it was bought at a store and had been sitting on the shelf for a while. My wife ordered a glass of Rodney Strong Cabernet. $12 a glass. It is one of her favorite wines. It was poured in the bar and presented in a cheap Pizza Hut wine glass. The wine was either court or not a Rodney Strong. Who knows? Not worth a drive and we live fairly close. read more

Loved this place! Absolutely everything here was delicious and waitress was super sweet! Upscale restaurant. Came for lunch. The shrimp bisque soup and warm pear salad was delicious! I want to come back for this same meal. Not pictured was chopped bacon that comes on the salad. It was left off but they brought a side of it after I said something. But it has a champagne vinaigrette that was out of this world. My mom had the Turkey cheese melt that came with a side of cheesy Hash-browns that I could eat all day long! Capers advertises itself as the best fine dining in Little Rock, we question who they are comparing themselves to, fast food? We dined with them last week and from what we could tell, only the prices align with true fine dining. My wife ordered an entree salad which arrived disguised as a side salad, all for the bargain price of $26. I ordered stuffed chicken which was stuffed as advertised, but was also breaded which was not noted in the description. Our server was unpleasant and has mastered "no", which is also not consistent with fine dining. She would disappear for extended periods of time which may explain why our food was cold. In fairness to her, mgmt gave our table of 4 upfront to her and a group of 12 at the back of the restaurant. I say mgmt but I'm not sure there was Mgmt as we didn't see anyone looking responsible. Very disappointing experience, from start to finish, this was a horrible experience. If you want the service and food to align with cost, go elsewhere! read more

Went for dinner tonight...my 1st time to Capers and it didn't disappoint! My husband and I had the Caesar salad and the warm pear salad! While both were good the warm pear was the bomb!! For dinner we order the Grouper and the Walleye... the walleye has a brown sauce which is amazingly complex and tasty but a bit on the spicy side, my grouper was flaky and came with a nice creamy sauce on top...I'd recommend both! For dessert we ordered the chocolate cream brûlée and it was crazy good!! Love this place and will definitely be back again!! read more

I'll say the best thing I had was the bread. I ordered the stuffed chicken and the catfish and they were flavorless. The chicken was barely touched. There is a relaxed, refined atmosphere here. The lighting is low key, the interior is comfortable and quiet, and the service mirrors it. So it's a nice experience. However, the food was hit or miss. We ordered house salads to start. They come with a nice variety of fresh ingredients and a champagne vinaigrette dressing. Unfortunately, the larger chunks of feta cheese were still semi-frozen in the middle, and the dressing was lacking much flavor or spices. Salt and pepper were required to add flavor to the salads. Our chicken picatta and grouper dijon entrees were beautiful. And my grouper dijon was delicious, an excellent entree. However, the wife said that her chicken picatta was only lukewarm, with the lemon caper sauce lacking zest. That's what I really look forward to myself for chicken picatta - a zesty sauce. That is, after all, what makes the dish. Dessert was just fine, though. They serve up a dense and tasty coconut cream pie. read more

August 9, 2023. Crab cake was so salty it was not edible. One bite had 5 capers...one small piece of crab. Same for warm pear salad. What was that "pear"? It was like a hard half pear covered with sweet icky sauce. The center of the half pear was a symmetrical circle. How do you find a half pear like that? In addition to long waits for service, the waitress complained about the table's tips. The waitress called out certain members of our group and told two of us what they supposedly tipped. Capers was an outstanding choice on Valentine's Day, since we had not made a reservation. Although there was a bit of a snafu at the beginning regarding seating, we had excellent, friendly service and a wonderful meal. The appetizers, brussels sprouts beignets, were particularly crunchy and tasty. Also recommended are the petite filet with crab stuffed lobster tail and the linguine with shrimp. The chowder, the mushroom soup and catfish was very good. The Cesar salad with the chicken was very tasty. Now the pork chop was another thing. It was very undercooked. The inside was very raw. I had the Grouper Dijon $29.95 the fish, a big portion felt a little tired like it's been hanging around for a while. It wasn't crisp as it should be straight from oven. The spinach was just plain steamed or boiled spinach. Rice, just plain. My wife ordered the pasta Acadia for $19.95 ....and this was a real disaster as she felt super sick afterwards. Gluten Free Review +Gluten Free Menu Drove past this place a few times and decided to give it a shot yesterday, was greeted by a very nice lady who knew literally everyone in the restaurant, this is def a older locals crowd type spot with an impressive wine list. They also have a gluten free menu which has nice options on it and a variety of fish choices to chose from. We both got different glasses of wine and were excellent choices and she even let us taste a sample of the house cab (no thanks) but had a better option to chose from. We got the Shrimp Cocktail appetizer which was seasoned and I'm from the coast, I've never seen Shrimp seasoned on a cocktail before but I have to say why don't they do this down south? It was excellent and tasty! I got the Salmon with rice and spinach, and the only spot for not 5 stars was it was entirely fishy/frozen and smelt horrible and had to send it back, I hate sending stuff back but paying $23 for rancid fish is not my idea of spending money. However our waitress was totally understanding and put me in the Grouper with rice and veg which came out quickly and was some of the best grouper I've had in a long time, nice white, flakey and tasted a lot more fresh than the Salmon. Quite a pricey joint but the ambience, service, and wine selection are definitely worth giving this place a go, especially a romantic date night. read more

Since the previous owner, who knew the restaurant business inside and out, sold Caper's it has gone to heck in a hand basket!! Awful dinner, service was bad, had to beg someone to wait on us. The stuffed chicken was so over cooked, I could not cut it w/ a steak knife. The "grits" that were served with, were the most off putting things I have ever tasted. Still not sure they were grits! The pasta w/ the chicken Picatta had no taste and was so over cooked. The burger smelled like mildew. Worst food and service. We will not be back. read more
