Excellent southern food presented beautifully-Check Prices are right for the portions and exceptional quality. Crowd is 25 plus so no crazy trendsetters to ruin a good thing. My father loves this place and eats there quite often. It's the personal touch of the staff calling him by name that brings it all home. If you haven't gone do something about it. Went here for a birthday dinner for my husband along with some friends. Very strict mask requirements still in place. I'm ready for everyone to loosen these. We all have had time to get a vaccine and it's time to go back to normal. Stop taking temperatures at the door. The service was good but slow. Not enough wait staff. We both ordered steak and it was excellent. The menu has a good variety of meat and fish. Owner was there and is very professional and appreciative of her customers. Stopped off for Happy Hour but decided to order something to eat, glad I did. The selection of wine is fairly good with about 20 reds and whites to choose from. I had the crawfish and crabcake appetizer. The wait staff is attentive. The bar is relatively small with seating for 8 plus a few bar tables. The main dinning room is poorly lit, which may or may not be a turn off. There is a small outdoor patio that might be nice during the warm weather but it is near Cantrell, which is busy. Good place for a quiet date but I would definitely not come here to spend time at the bar. The food is really good. Might try the fish tacos next time. Be prepared to spend $30 per entree and add another $30 for drinks per person. Overall a good impression. A limited number of bottles of wine are 50% off Mon-Thurs with the prices ranging between $12-$20. The parking lot is small so if you have a typical Arkansas vehicle, I would suggest parking in the strip mall next door unless you can successfully navigate a large vehicle out of a small spot after having a drink or three. read more

While the food is great, we made a reservation for 10, showed up ready for great food with our work team and they had given our reserved room away to another group. If you make a reservation for their private room be warned that it may not be available when you show up! UPDATE: The signature dish, catfish, appeared more consistent with battered goldfish rather than the crispy Arkansas catfish I'm used to eating. Poor effort from the Caper's crew today. read more

Great service - even when you pick up. That's what we have been doing since Covid hit. We love the romaine wedge salad and the pear and gorgonzola salad. Our favorite is the fried shrimp. Get them to substitute so that you get the cheese grits. The key lime pie is wonderful - the graham cracker crust has a chocolate layer. So good. I love the coconut creme pie, too. TIP WELL. Capers has always, always been a staple for our family. We have a long history of visiting Capers for family get togethers whenever we're in town. The food has always been absolutely top notch, and last night was no exception. Simply put, our dinner was fabulous, as it has always been. Also, since the last time we were here, they updated the restrooms(which had always made me a little peevy as the lack of updates kind of took away from the ambiance just a bit.) But now, it is fresh, modern and as welcoming as a restroom can be! But we understand that there was some reconstruction after a ceiling issue at Capers and as a result of the new configuration or materials used (I can only assume) the noise level within the restaurant was completely offputting. I'm not sure what they did, but I had such a hard time understanding the conversation at our table that it took much away from our evening and left me feeling a little cheated as Capers has always been such a lovely home table for our family. It was a Thursday night, so it wasn't insanely busy. I We hope that it was just a one-off thing, and of course, we will be back, but if this is the new normal for Capers, then we'll have to look for something else to become our new normal. read more

We tried Capers for the first time this past weekend. I've passed this place so many times, but have never actually ate there. I'm glad we finally made it, because everything was great! The atmosphere was nice and understated. There are two dining areas, and we ate on the side that had a fireplace. It was fairly quiet for a Saturday night, but that never bothers me. I like being able to enjoy my time with dinner companions without the frustration that comes with long waits. Capers is affiliated with Cajun's Wharf, and that place has about a 45 minute wait on Saturdays, so this was quite nice. The service was excellent, and the food was even better. We started with a half bottle of Pinot Grigio and a stuffed artichoke: "A succulent Artichoke from the Mid Coastal region of California filled with a savory blend of Mushrooms and herb treated Bread Crumbs. Then, topped with Lump Crab and Parmesan and glazed in the broiler. Served on a pool of our signature Crawfish Cream Sauce." This was excellent, but a bit of a waste. The filling was delicious, the cream sauce was delicious, but it was hard to eat. The inside leaves were tender, soft and perfectly edible, but the other leaves were hard and tough. Once we ran out of inner leaves (which were soft and edible, but not the best vessel for the filling), we just ate the remaining filling with our forks. I think this would be much better if it was served with bread. Then you could layer the filling and a slice of the artichoke on the bread, or just use the bread if you didn't feel like dealing with the tough leaves. My husband had the walleye ("Parmesan-encrusted Walleye. Pan Sauteed and presented on a pool of Crawfish Tails, Mushrooms, and Cajun Cream Sauce, accompanied with creamy White Cheddar Cheese Grits."), which was excellent. The sauce had a bit of a kick to it, and the piece of fish was huge, and very flavorful. My only problem here was that the fish was completely drenched in sauce. Since the sauce was good, it turned out okay, but I'd maybe order it on the side. I ordered one of their specials. It was red snapper with a red pepper remoulade & two shrimp served beside the white cheddar grits. My fish was excellent. The grits were excellent. But my fish was also covered in sauce. While his sauce was light, mine was heavy & overpowering. It tasted kind of like a tarter sauce with red peppers, I scraped it off and ate the fish by itself. The grits however, were some of the best I've ever had. They were thick and creamy and had fantastic flavor. We ended our meal with a slice of key lime pie, which was some of the best either of us had ever had, It had a layer of chocolate in between the lime custard and the crust, and was topped with whipped cream and drizzled with more chocolate. It was completely delicious and the chocolate was a really nice, surprise addition. Our waitress said most people either love the addition of the chocolate or hate it. We absolutely LOVED it. This was a really nice dinner, great service and an overall great experience. We'll definitely be back! read more

My frugal husband was drawn in to this restaurant by the sign on the outside that read "half-priced wine Monday-Thursday". Yes, the wine was half-priced, but the food prices made up for it. The menu looked good. Had many seafood options to choose from, including Walleye - native to my home state Minnesota. I couldn't bear to eat Walleye in the south, so we ordered a few appetizers to do a tapas style meal. The romaine-wedge salad was the best thing I tasted, well, the other food we tried I thought were mediocre. The BBQ shrimp was quite spicy. The cheese tortellini was average. The restaurant's feel felt old and established. It was clean and cluttered with kitschy decor. I would say it is meant for an older crowd, not the middle-aged foodies we tend to hang with. I can't say Capers is bad, but I doubt we will be back. read more

I was revisited this restaurant recently with a girlfriend, and we were both very pleased with the experience. That's probably my fifth visit in eight years, but I feel I need to go more often! Of course, the first thing we did was choose a bottle of wine from the Monday-through-Thursday half-price wine list. This is amazing! Some of the bottles listed cost less than a glass of wine. Also, if you don't finish it, they'll cork it for you and you can take it home. It's tremendous! We decided to do a kind of "tapas" dinner, and share appetizer plates, so we ordered three dishes: the homemade potato chips with blue cheese dressing, the cheese tortellini with red sauce and the barbecue shrimp and grits. While the chips were good, there were waaaaaaaaay too many for two of us to share, so we picked at a few of them and I took the rest home to my husband (but they, of course, softened in the fridge and weren't good the next day). The tortellini is fried and there aren't too many of them, which made them good to share, and they were delicious. I had never had the barbecue shrimp and grits before, and my friend insisted I try it. It was pretty amazing, and I'm not a fan of the grit! We tried not to eat too much (though this was difficult) because we wanted to save room for the highlight of the evening: strawberry shortcake served beautifully in a martini glass. This was very, very good, though I wished there had been a little bit more cake, and the sauce was very sweet. Our server was very good to us, helpful, attentive and friendly. She checked on us just enough and was very kind and took our photo. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. I'll put Capers on my short list of go-to restaurants in Little Rock. read more

I have been here twice. This is an up-scale restaurant, meaning that the portions are small and expensive. The food is generally good. It is a place you take someone to impress. The place is a bit pertinacious. I had a goat cheese stuff chicken breast and my wife had a salad with salmon. My chicken was good. It was served with 1 cup of brown rice and no vegetables or anything else. Cost $19. My wife's dinner was disappointing. The salad was suppose to beans and potatoes. It had 3 beans (we counted) and few potato pieces. The fish was overcooked. The salad was also $18. I am not sure that we will be back. read more

Capers restaurant is quite with a relaxing anbiance. They serve an eclectic mix of chicken, beef, and seafood. The Confetti Dip appetizer satisfies the need for healthy eating and the desire for flavor at the same time. It is fresh vegetables and pita chips served with a jalapeno flavored cheese sauce. Other good appetizers are the skewered shrimps and the stuffed artichokes. My favorite entrees are the herb crusted tilapia and the filet mignon. They have a couple of heavenly cheesecakes, and an extensive wine list. Capers Market, right behind the restaurant has gourmet-to-go salads, casseroles, lasagna, enchiladas, and desserts. Our first course: tomato salad for my wife, shrimp bisque for me. Our second courses: Chicken Marsala for her, Pork tenderloins for me. Third courses: Coconut Cream pie for her and Lemon Icebox pie for me. Our choices were excellent. Our standout choices were the Tomato salad, her Chicken Marsala and my Lemon Icebox pie. This used to be a great restaurant that was located on the outskirts of west Little Rock. Hwy 10, over the past 20 years, has grown out to it and past it. Many years ago, it was THE place to eat. However, things seem to have gone downhill over the years, or we've all raised the bar on our dining expectations. The last few times I have visited this restaurant, it was definitely not outstanding and the menu seems to stay the same. I think it is a pretty good place for a nice lunch and just a decent place for dinner now. As for Caper's Market in the rear, they have a great sage cheese you can purchase in the market and the pre-prepared meals are pretty good. Again, they don't seem to change their selection of entrees that much and therefore, this could not be a place to continue to return to once a month or so. read more
