    After!
    Kathryn J.

Capital Carpet completed my floors and they did an AMAZING job! Rod is so great and truly cares about the end result. He went onsite to visit it himself and then called to ask afterwards how I liked it. Great customer service and I am SO thrilled with how it looks. I had carpet before in the living area and ceramic tile in the kitchen and entry way. They did the demo and installation for all areas totaling about 900sf in my house. I included before pictures so you can see the work entirely! I will probably get my carpet upstairs replaced in the next year with them!

My next door neighbor had Carpetland install hardwood floors throughout their house. Based upon…read moretheir recommendation, I hired Carpetland to replace the carpet in my upstairs hallway and the stairs to the first floor and basement after my wife slipped and fell down the stairs on some old carpet. We replaced the carpet with the same hardwood that we have on the first floor. The job went fairly well. There was a language barrier, as the crew that was sent either did not speak English, or did not speak it well. There were a few hiccups, but they were resolved without too many issues. Fast forward about 7 months. I decided to surprise my wife while she was out of town and had the first floor refinished. I specifically asked if the job could be done within my timeframe while my wife was out of town. While I was told that there would be no problem, I was not told that the tradeoff would be only one coat of polyurethane instead of two. That second coat makes a huge difference! Again, a crew shows up and language is an issue. I tried communicating as best I could, but they did not seem to understand. Dust control was a major issue. I am still finding areas of my house other than where the work was done covered with dust. The floor was gouged just inside the front door. Whoever was using the sander must have been doing on the job training. You can see where he changed directions with the sander and I still see swirl marks on the floor. The foyer was not sanded evenly, but the crew leader swears he could not see it. After registering my complaints, John-the sales rep-was very apologetic and offered to send the crew leader out to make things right. Roberto came back two days later and tried to gaslight my wife and I. He insisted that there were two coats of polyurethane on the floor...even though he wasn't not even present when it was applied. He did (mostly) fix where the floor was gouged. The non-English speaking crew returned the next day to apply a second coat of polyurethane. It is interesting that she spoke English well enough to ask for payment before she left. Once the floor dried, I noticed spots that were missed. I reached out to John again and he assured me that he would have Roberto come to address any concerns and he would return with him. It was at that point that I made the mistake of paying the invoice. I have not heard from John since. My next project involves replacing all of the carpet on the second floor with hardwood floors. Guess who will not be getting the job?

My senior dad lives with us and there's been too many scares of him falling -- as well for myself. Roy, the son of the original owner, came over to measure and provide the estimate - a friendly man who is deeply passionate and knowledgeable about floors. He is easy to work with and absolutely does not give pressure in using his company - I felt he just wanted us to be happy with the final product. Not only did Clawes Carpet continued to provide warm and professional service, but their Fairfax store allowed us to take few samples home to make sure the design was the best one for our stairs. Mike was the one who greeted us at the store and provided us with good options to consider. There was also a very nice lady (sorry I can't remember your name) from their team who called to remind us of our upcoming installation and answer any questions I might have. She was also very easy to talk to and professional. It's day and night difference in how Clawes Carpets treated me as a client compared to big brand stores. Edgar arrived on time, was very focused in completing the job and even went back to the warehouse to cut the carpet as it was snowing outside and he did not want to get the carpet wet. He even vaccumed after installing the carpet! Edgar's attention to detail, thoughtfulness and professional work continues to keep Clawes Carpets as one of the best business to partner with -- also, they're family owned and military friendly. Attached are the before and after photos. THANK YOU Clawes Carpets -- you did another great job in providing professional, high quality and friendly service. You're a role model to follow in running a trust worthy business. I wish your business continued success for many more generations. Attached are the before and after photos of our stairs.

It was a no brainer to choose them. When it comes to the work itself, the craftsmanship was very good, the cuts are so clean and everything looks amazing. They did very fast work without sacrificing quality. The only areas for improvement I would say they could have are: - Communication during the days of the project, so you know without having to ask when they are coming, leaving, what the progress is, etc. - Ensuring when they put furniture and things back that they pay attention to things like hooking up HDMIs back to the correct places - Doing a better job of cleanup -- they left behind a TON of dust coating everything, sawdust in my basement that I presume blew in from leaving the garage entrance open where they were working, cans/water bottles left behind - Building in measurement/space for lower flooring to not leave a gap in the trim; they came back and did some caulking after I had a water/rain issue, but it still doesn't look as good -- I wish that their molding/trim solution filled the big gaps and I'm going to have to find a way to do that myself To their credit, they were very fast and responsive when I had a water issue and came back out the next day. I also had a crack in my basement ceiling where something pounded through or pounded the drywall loose from the flooring above being done, and they credited me enough money back to be able to have my handyman fix it. Overall, I would definitely use DFD again.
