Capital Carpet is by far the best flooring company around. We are repeat customers. When you need new floor or even patch work, they do it all! Their show room is huge and I love seeing all the products available. Unlike the big corps where they bring some samples to your home. I can run through thousands of samples just by walking into the show room. They pride themselves on quality and staying on top of industry trends (which I love). I had to go to the store to pick a different kind of carpet because I am allergic to polyester. When I went to the store Mr. Kavoos Rad, CEO was the best. He informed me and showed me a variety of carpet samples that would be the best carpet for me so I could make an informed decision. Mr. Rad is very knowledgeable about different kinds of carpet. He also confirmed what I knew about the carpet I needed. He was very considerate about what I needed to buy as opposed to what I wanted to pay for. He will also work with you as far as pricing goes. Still the decision will be yours. The carpet I chose was wool because I needed a natural fiber. His representatives came out and did a fantastic job. I used Capital Carpet before and was extremely unpleased with the customer relations and scheduling. But I used them anyway because i was in a time crunch to sale my house. Being optimistic, I decided to get an estimate in my new home for refinishing hardwood floors. After finally getting a call after several days, I was talked down to and asked many questions that I could not answer. Only a professional could answer these questions and the reason I requested an in person estimate. The owner was extremely rude and condescending. I can not comment on the workmanship but the rudeness is completely unacceptable. Until the owner learns how to talk to people in a humane way, I would not give them business. read more

My experience with capital carpet was an interesting one to say the least. Keep in mind, my carpet is beautiful. But this is due to my choice to pick and pay for a higher quality carpet than what was originally offered. So let's start from the beginning... I called capital carpet to come out and give an estimate. Keep in mind, before they would agree to come out, I had to agree to pay them $50, which they noted would be applied to my bill, should I purchase carpet. The guy came out and did the measurements and we made an appointment to come out the next day to their warehouse to pick out the carpet. We picked out the carpet, scheduled a date for installation and paid in full. From this point, we had to basically manage our own installation process. Our carpet was being ordered and we were told that we would be contacted when it came in. The day before schedule installation, we still had not heard from capital carpet about the status of the delivery of the carpet, any preparations we needed to take for the next day if the carpet had come in, or the time that they were planning on coming if the carpet was in. So, we had to call them and we couldn't get a definite answer as it was Sunday. The next day, the installers came and the first thing they said was we needed to have the doors cut in order for them to install carpet. WTF! Don't you think that the person who came out to give us the estimate and do the measurements would have also mentioned this??? We had over a month to get this done in between the time we ordered carpet and the installation... This could have been done! So, on a 20° day, we were told that we could get our carpet installed but they would have to leave the doors off. This included a downstairs basement door leading to the outside. So, I had to scramble to get someone to come and cut the doors for installation. Installation was OK... There were a few things that I noticed could have been done better such as this weird folding of the carpet on the stairs. But it didn't matter, as no one called to see how I like my carpet anyway. So, to summarize this experience, once they got the money, they stop caring about customer service. My advice to you would be to make sure that you did not pay until you get your carpet and it is installed satisfactorily. Lesson learned... read more

I had the pleasure of hiring Capital Carpet due to an unfortunate incident- a tenant above me caused damage to my home beneath them and carpet in the hall way was ripped up in the process(leak). The owner of the upstairs unit was being very difficult. With assistance from Capital Carpet - they went out of their way to describe normal circumstance is to replace all the carpet since it was all connected. I would have wound up with differing heights and color if only the hallway was done. There was a lot of back and forth and they were able to get me full carpet replacement. It was so nice to have someone on my side. The meeting at their showroom was professional and not stressful at all. There were several options and all was explained. I upgraded the padding and paid for that myself. It was totally worth the trip in such hot weather and has made my month!! read more

The quality of carpet and installation left a lot to be desired. Be sure to ask for more than one option to choose from. I wanted plush but got a much lower grade carpet. I think it's just what they have in stock. The photos of commercial jobs look great. I cannot imagine the same quality I got is what they offer to any of these establishments. read more

This review is long overdue. Back in January the trade show company I work for was in desperate & immediate need for carpet padding for a key customer's booth at a show that was moving in THAT DAY. Good lord. This company hooked me up! Within two hours they were able to help me find the correct product, sizing (we had to trim down but not much) and arranged for same day delivery to the DC Convention Center. I called from California so I was already on the cusp of not making their delivery for that day (they use an outside delivery company). I was so impressed with the service I received. The product arrived as described, on time, and at the correct loading dock. Great communication between the company, their delivery service, me, and our on-site show management staff who were anxiously awaiting the delivery. Capital Carpet saved the day! So I got a quote from the Orange Box store, decided to give a local a chance. I brought the quote to them and said can you beat what they gave me? The girl that set up the quote and showed me their equivalent Berber was good, but she kept saying "You want standard padding right ?", which I replied what ever HD quoted. Well, my fault for not looking at the quote more closely but when I got home, I compared them and she quoted me 4 lb and not 8 lb padding like HD. When I called back she said it would be another $365 to up it to 8 lb padding.....which is the same price as HD. We agreed that she would up it to 6lb for the same price as originally quoted (4lb), which is probably an even wash with HD or a little less. They had the carpet and were ready to install in less than 2 days. Took a 1/2 day from work to meet them and get the install. Nice friendly installers and so I sat on my couch and let them do their thing. The job was for an attic which had no existing carpet to remove (easily 30-40 min saved over a regular install with nothing to throw out) and generally an easy install. After 20-30 min decided to check on them and noticed the pad seemed significantly thinner than when I had done my own installs in smaller rooms with 8lb. A little "round about" with the install guys and we check the label for what was (already) installed and it is 5lb. Not way off but still, not what was agreed to. Long story short, they were ready to install the carpet, didn't have 6lb on the truck (I'm 30 min from their shop without Friday traffic, so at least an hour round trip) so I just let them install it. The area is supposed to be for storage and a kids play room, so its more of my concern for durability (hence berber) and "comfort" for the kids (which I told her). The small topper to this was that they didn't install padding in the last two feet where the roof meets the attic floor. Granted, you cant use that space/walk on it but it left a line the whole length on both sides ......and it is technically 120 square feet of padding I paid for, that wasn't installed. Ultimately, they would have gotten 5 stars if they had simply quoted me the same as HD like I asked and said they can only beat it by $75-$100 and explained to me the situation with the last two feet up against the roof/wall before doing it (they said they couldn't stretch the carpet with the padding on the other side of the tack strip (which had to be two feet out, to install, I think we could have glues some padding down and made it look better without effecting the stretching process read more

I sent an email and the owner said he'd provided me a quote within three days. It's been seven days and I've been waiting, and waiting, and waiting. I wish I could score a 0.1, but I can't. There is just too much to say. I paid a rate of $3 per square foot for a job that I was expecting to be done with general consistency and a certain craftsmanship, but Kavoos sent a sub contractor under their name that was underpaid, disrespectful of the company, and frankly did not care about the quality of the work. He sent this guy Luis that thinks Kavoos is an idiot and thinks it ok for him to rant and vent to us the entire time of the job and how his boss treats him. While we paid market price to get a good job, Luis was slowly destroying my house. When he sanded the floor, there were dips, circles in floor, and he kept telling us it was our fault such as the sun shining on floor, the hair from my dog, etc. He was on the phone talking to someone while sanding our floor and ruining it. We made them come back 2 times to fix the scratches, circles, bubbles on floor, but each time came out worst than the time before. We have been living as hobos for 10 days with limited access because of the coats that need to dry. This was so terrible. We have been forced to call another company to redo the job and got our money back. He still charged us for 250 but we had to repaint outside and inside because of all the splatter that was caused by luis. I have gotten estimates of 250 dollars to sand out the mistakes this company made. In the process, I have lost 2 roommates and have just been inconvenienced by this terrible job for my home. Such a waste of time. they are so unprofessional and I shouldn't have to deal with this. read more

I was able to book his next available day which was 3 days later and got my new new carpet installed early Monday morning. My experience very much echoes the earlier review of the person who had to get their doors cut. Basically, the company did a good job of installing my carpet and I'm pleased with the quality of the carpet. However, they did not take any measurements and I specifically asked when I first went to the store if they needed to measure the gap between the floors and the doors to which they said no. Sure enough the gap was too small and my doors could not close/move properly. They then made me pay to have another crew come out to shave down the doors. Once again they did not measure and just eyed it with the saw resulting in an uneven door and they even managed to gauge the bottom of one of my doors with a saw leaving a noticeable cut. They also shaved the doors with the saw without covering any of my floors or furniture and sawdust got absolutely everywhere, which was a nightmare to clean. After lots of conversations, they finally gave me a modest refund, but were generally unhelpful and kept changing the story of how they were going to fix the problem every time I spoke to them on the phone. My overall impression is that they cut corners with not going out and taking proper measurements and they lack attention to detail. Most of the time its probably not an issue, but the second things go wrong, it becomes a huge issue. From a customer perspective, this company is a gamble. read more

I agreed to write a good review for Capital Carpet LLC because I felt I got a fair deal from the owner, Kavoos Rad. Let me explain. We have a home on Capitol Hill. We wanted to put a wood floor in our basement. The concrete floor underneath the old carpet was very uneven. Putting a wood floor on top of an uneven concrete basement floor required some quick thinking, and execution on the part of Capital Carpet. The solution: they anchored a plywood subfloor to the concrete to smooth out the uneveness, and put the wood floor down on top of that. It looks beautiful. Thank you, Kavood, for a first rate job. I'm late in posting this review, but I had a great experience with Capital Carpet! They run a small shop on Rhode Island Ave. NE. RB provided great customer service and explained to me the various features and prices for each type of carpet. He threw in the extra thick padding for free. It took a few days for the carpet to be delivered from the warehouse (I chose a type that they didn't have in stock), but the installers came out a week after I had bought the carpet from the store. They did a great job and hauled away my old carpet (for additional cost). My new carpet was so soft and high-quality. read more

My wife a I had a good experience with these guys. We didn't feel like they tried to push a specific type of carpet on us and there was no haggling involved. They did not charge us for the padding or for the labor of installing the carpet, so we feel we got a good deal. The only issue was that the corner of the carpet was not stapled to the ground well. The installer also left a remainder of the carpet on our driveway. But the owner was quick to have one of his guys come out and staple the corner down. read more
