Worst place to take ur boat had out drive stolen and took 2 months to replace ....charging me over 300 to half Ass rebuild carb STAY AWAY

BUYER BEWARE! I can't believe that these guys are an Authorized Minn Kota Service Center! So I brought my trolling motor in there last week and they told me $275 to fix it. I go in to pick it up the next day and not have them do the work. All the mechanic said he did was "hook it to a battery and try it." That takes about 2 minutes! Then after he went in the office and Al gave him a new work order that didn't have my writing that said CALL BEDORE DOING ANY WORK) on it, they charged me $81! I asked "why because you only hooked it up to power you said?" The mechanic then followed in line with his boss to say how they did all this diagnostic work. The guy Al there was very sneaky and I hope they're happy. Their integrity just got bought really cheap and this review on Google is spot on. Edit: Yep...and we just took the motor apart today. It wasn't even what they said it was. It was the magnet inside the housing. It had a huge crack and was gouged really bad; they never even mentioned that because they never took it apart. It just proves even more how much of a rip off Al is at Capital District Marina! read more

Don't go here. I had my boat winterized and discovered they never disconnected the battery or took it out of the boat. Due to their neglect, I now have to buy a new battery. I talked to Al, and he gave me a bunch of silly excuses as to why my battery doesn't work, and why they do not disconnect them. It's science: a discharged battery stored in the cold will crack and be destroyed. Leaving my battery connected in my boat drained the battery, and a cold winter destroyed the battery. He was not willing to compromise on a resolution. He eventually ended up hanging up the phone on me. This place is dishonest and unprofessional. Go somewhere else. read more

My 6 HP Merc Dinghy motor would not start and I needed it badly for an upcoming trip. Called Al and he told me to bring it in. Nelson looked at it the next day and got it running better than ever. Bought my boat here eleven years ago. G3 V170 with a 70H Yamaha. Owning a boat is not inexpensive. Preventive and regular maintenance is essential. If you wait for something to go wrong you'll pay more to fix it and walk away with a bad taste in your mouth. I resolved to keep it well maintained so I can use it trouble free for years. Capital District Marina (CDM) has helped me do just that. When I bought it Frank, the mechanic at the time, took it (with me) on the river for a checkout ride. One minor issue was found and resolved before I picked it up for the summer. Every year since then I bring it to CDM in the fall and have it winterized, shrink wrapped and stored for the winter. I have them check the motor thoroughly and maintain it according to the manufacturer's recommendations - and also address any issues they may find when they hook it up to the diagnostic tool. The result of this maintenance: Every year when I launch it in Lake George it starts with the first turn of the key and I get a full summer of trouble-free use. I typically put 50 - 100 hours on the motor each summer. Eleven trouble-free years now. read more

Know what to expect. My experience was not at all good for my 40HP Mercury Force outboard motor that is still not running. Guy named Al automatically told me water pump ( I think it's his bread and butter) and then it only got worse from there with every phone call and another problem allegedly found. (Thermostat, battery cables, a lot of gaskets, freight charges) The final straw was a wiring harness he claimed I needed as wires where melted on the engine. I looked at 5 ground wires that were a little blackened but just needed to be cleaned up. And he wanted 700 before tax to put wiring harness on so I said NO! Would have been over 2 grand with tax and he stated other things may also go wrong. So now my boat after all these new issues and $1,244 won't even turn over when I took it off their lot. Not sure how a shop can take advantage of people's trust and still look in the mirror. How are they still in business? Chumps like me I guess. Avoid this place. read more

He even went one step further and serviced my boat at no additional charge. The floor replacement was professional and the engine work has my boat running smoothly. Very trust worthy business.
