They accept my Cigna dental insurance and out of pocket pay was reasonable. I had my 4 wisdom teeth removed, the process was so smooth. Dr Goodenough is a great surgeon, and the nurses make sure you understand the procedure and walked through before and after do and don'ts. Worst experience I have ever had in a medical office. I waited 2+ hours to see the Dr. There was no justifiable reason for me to wait that long. Everyone who checked in after me, was called first. I watched 2 people who checked in at the same time as me, walk out the door to go home. At one point I politely asked one of the receptionist how long it would be and got a snarky answer while she tried to hide behind her computer monitor to avoid eye contact. At the end, there was only me and one other patient in the waiting area, who checked in long after I did. Another couple came in and asked how long I had been waiting and I told them my appt was at 2:30, and it was now 4 o'clock. The other receptionist stood up and yelled at me across the room. "WE HAVE THREE DOCTORS!" ??? They finally called me in and I sat for another half an hour in the dentist chair before the Dr. came in. read more

Dr. Delgado certainly has his ducks in a row! He is a super nice guy and has no issue taking the time to calmly explain everything that he is doing. I am an Engineer so I found it very interesting and I never felt rushed. My tooth is a strong as it was before and it feels like a real tooth in my mouth...AMAZING! I want to make an exception here to mention Nicole in the Billing Department. My insurance SUCKS and she really went out of her way to help me. After arguing with my insurance for months she stayed after hours to finalize my claim after contacting my insurance company for me PERSONALLY ...and they are OUT OF NETWORK!!! ...so she did not have to do that!!! My experience with this practice is that I have had to reschedule my procedure 4-5 times because the Doctor had things going on I understand that things come up in life but when you have to reschedule multiple times you say wow this practice is so unprofessional. The visit to see the doctor at this practice was very good. But having to reschedule multiple times that is where I draw the line. And then them saying that there is no other doctor Who will accept my insurance and that office is very ridiculous there should be more than one doctor in that practice who will accept my insurance and then them saying to me that I would have to pay out-of-pocket to see one of those doctors even though the one that I was supposed to see has canceled multiple times that really baffles me. read more

There was a little hiccup when I had the appointment scheduled to have my wisdom teeth pulled on a Monday, because my surgeon had a personal emergency. That being said they were very apologetic, and rescheduled for a date only 2 days later. When I finally arrived to have my actual appointment they got me into the room within 5 mins and within the hour the appointment was done. The staff was alll extremely welcoming, and made me feel very safe and secure. I wasn't anxious by any means, but it was nice to know that they all wanted to make sure I was comfortable through the entire procedure. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. read more

First, the positive: the surgeons in this practice seem competent. However, this is outweighed by the outdated and inefficient way the practice is run, which influences medical outcomes. That includes the sexism. The lead surgeon, Dr. DeMarco, is a Trump supporter - still, amazingly - so that pretty much tells you. Any medical person who supports a malevolent, incompetent narcissist who epidemiologists say has caused 400,000 needless deaths is a triumph of compartmentalization, to say the least. The practice does have a younger and more up-to-date surgeon, Dr. Delgado. Very nice guy. However, I don't think Dr. Delgado makes it worthwhile to get any work done with these folks. The communication is atrocious. Because of scheduling problems caused by incompetent staff, I had to wait more than a month for an extraction and my tooth got infected. Nobody told me that my jaw would swell post-op -- it makes sense, in retrospect, but would have been nice to know. There are medical consequences when staff makes mistakes. In my case, an infected tooth, a more complicated surgery, and slower recovery time. This practice seems both antiquated and sexist, a common problem in Albany. Again, this is not a reflection on Dr. Delgado, and it seems to be a particular problem with the Albany office rather than Latham. Sexist men don't hire intelligent women staff, right? And that matters. How about a woman surgeon? In 2019, the University of Michigan reported: "Gender inequity is common in most surgical specialties, but it is especially pronounced in OMS. About 19 percent of U.S. surgeons are women and only about 8 percent of the active members of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) are women." Albany is pretty 1950s and sexist on a lot of friends (note Cuomo's recent ouster) and in this practice, it shows. I'd say go elsewhere. People seem to like Dr. Johar. I'll go there for followup if I have it done in upstate New York. read more

Absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I really wish I could give capital District oral surgeons less than one star. I had an appointment which I had to cancel because I wasn't going to be able to make it. I called two weeks in advance to cancel. Then a week before I got a text to confirm my appointment I called them canceled again but every day since then I've been getting a text to confirm my appointment. I've left three messages, because it's very difficult to get through to them that I have canceled the appointment and to pease call me to confirm. They never called me back. This morning I just got another text to confirm my appointment for tomorrow which I canceled over two weeks ago , I called them. I was on the phone waiting for 36 minutes. The first time they kept telling me I was the fifth caller ..fourth caller.. third caller .. second caller ..then they asked if I wanted to continue holding to press one, I pressed one I got back in the queue and I was caller number 9!!!! At that point my wait time was another half hour. They are the worst, find another surgeon go elsewhere, I am going to. I'm afraid they are going to charge me for a no-show appointment so I am going to have to literally go there to the office physically to cancel this appointment. Which actually is what I had to do initially to make the appointment because they would never call me back and I could never get through. That should've been my first indication to go elsewhere. Met with Dr DeMarco and was told I needed a 3D xray so I agreed and immediately office staff came in and required payment immediately I left over $500 lighter. Then it was two months before they got back to me for a second consultation When we met again DeMarco explained and showed me the X-rays He was far from enthusiastic. The last question I asked was what the cost would be . His answer was A lot!!! Said he would get back to me in a week it never happened It has now been a year since Needless to say I moved on from that clown circus. Excuse after excuse after excuse about not being scheduled for a year and a half (this place lost the films, that one's on vacation, etc.), being told too many things by too many different people who answered the phones, being sent by the office manager, Rosemary, to have some kind of mapping procedure done that was completely unnecessary according to Dr. DeMarco. This place is fucking horrible. The front desk staff is amazing. However they schedule my elderly mother for a 1030 appointment told her to come in for 10am. We were on time for her appointment. When we got there we were told I cannot leave the premises (which wasnt stated before) Strike one. I planned my day on dripping her off and coming back. We sat in the waiting room for for AN HOUR AND A HALF before she was called in (Strike 2). I got up asked for a manager rught at the moment she got called so the nurse made her sit back down (Strike 3). Now im pissed. I had a molar that broke and needed to be extracted. My dentist referred me to this office so I made an appointment to have the tooth pulled. When I made the appointment I thought that I would have the tooth extracted at the appointment but instead it was just a consultation. I walked into the exam room and from then on it went down hill. Before the Dr. Miron or his assistant had even looked at the x-rays the assistant asked me if I was nervous. Now who isn't nervous going to the dentist? When I said yes they immediately told me that I would need anesthesia which I told them I didn't need, then it was a bone graft, and sinus surgery. I felt like Dr. Miron was trying to pay off his medical school loans. It really was a very hard sell. It left me feeling so uncomfortable that I canceled my appointment and went to a different oral surgeon who used Novocaine and did a great job. read more

I developed major, major jaw problems when I was an adolescent. This meant that when I was 18, I had to have major surgery that basically involved surgeons breaking my jaw in several parts, and then moving it forward and clipping it in place. Well, actually, it's far more technical than that, but you get the gist. After my orthodontist consorted with several doctors in various cities for several months, Dr. Jerry Beck agreed to take me on. Apparently I had one of the worst cases of whatever my affliction was that he'd seen in a long time. He was worried he wouldn't be able to make as much of a difference as I hoped. BUT... the eight hours of grueling surgery went well, and success was achieved. Best of all, Dr. Beck and his staff are some of the most sympathetic and understanding medical professions I've ever dealt with. Given my intense anxiety, I needed that desperately. Should you ever have to have any sort of jaw or oral surgery, I highly suggest Drs. Beck and Patel - they are both absolutely great. All of the assistants in the office are kind and flattering too, which was definitely what an insecure pre- and post-surgery teenage girl needed. read more

I had to have a cracked wisdom tooth extracted and went to the Latham office. I found the staff to be pleasant and efficient. They explained fully what I needed to do and what to expect the day of the procedure. They were knowledgeable about my insurance and provided an accurate estimate of the cost. Dr. Adams was very good and he was able to perform the extraction quite quickly. I was given post op instructions and received a follow up call the next day asking how I was doing. I called a week after the extraction as I was still having a bit of swelling and pain. My call was returned very quickly and after chatting with the nurse I felt more comfortable with my progress. And she was correct that it would take a few more days before I would feel 100%. I recommend this practice. read more

I have had 2 procedures (wisdom tooth removal that should never have been done in 2 separate procedures to begin with) with this practice, and both times were horrible, bordering on malpractice and neglect. When I went in for the procedure the nurse sat me in the chair and hooked my arms and hands up to all these machines and sensors so that I couldn't move them or use my hands, then strapped my head to the chair with a breathing tube in my mouth that was pumping just regular air (they did not turn on the nitrous oxide)... and then the nusrse walked away and just left me there like that for 20 whole minutes, restrained by my HEAD, unable to remove the breathing tube because my arms were hooked up, completely conscious, and all alone because they already sent my escort away. I had a panic attack (seriously who wouldn't in that situation, I felt like a science experiment) and when someone finally came in to check on me and I got them to remove the head restraint/breathing tube, the original nurse who did this to me came in and was chastising me, irritated that I had the tube removed and she would have to do it again. I cannot believe that this is standard practice, that they would restrain a patient like that and leave me alone with my head immobilized and a breathing tube in my mouth, fully awake. This traumatic experience was completely unnecessary, unprofessional, and inhumane, and shows a total lack of awareness for the patient's experience while still conscious. Then when I had complications in recovery, their aftercare instructions were contradictory and completely useless and the office unreachable. I was prescribed a ridiculously high dose of antibiotics (higher than what I took for a serious internal surgery last year), and when I had an adverse reaction to the dosage they told me it was very common and I could just stop taking the antibiotic because it was just a precaution anyway. No advice for how to deal with the reaction I was having, like taking a probiotic or anything. I had debilitating migraines for all 7 days following the procedure, and signs of a sinus infection, and I called multiple times to talk to someone in the office about the complications I was having, but my calls were not returned, even when I called my general dentist (who refered me here and were appalled at how I was being treated) and had them ask the practice to return my calls. I got no response from this practice to any of my calls and messages until I threatened legal action. The nurses are completely incompetent and lack basic human compassion, they should not be doing any job that comes in contact with patients. I will be strongly recommending against going to this practice and having a serious conversation with my dentist who referred me. I have had bad experiences both times I went here and it was the office, not the surgeons, who were the problem. 0/5 stars for the worst surgical experience I've had to date. read more

Terrible office management. I arrived to have all 4 wisdom teeth extracted, haven't eaten or had anything to drink in 15 hours. Office manager then tells me my total payment and it is THREE TIMES the estimate. I was told at the consult that if there were any changes to the estimate that they would contact me. EVEN WORSE they confirmed the estimate a day and a half ago when they confirmed my appointment. Horrible way to begin a surgical procedure. I should be relaxed and made to feel comfortable. I was apprensive at best about having a second opinion on what could be a years worth of oral surgery work, which includes an extraction, bone graphs and implants, all in the front of my mouth. I had a very negative experience at another oral surgery office and my experince with Dr Miron and his staff could not have been further from that experience. The other office acted offended when I stated I was having a second opinion on what is a major oral surgery process and wanted to charge me $200.00 for a copy of the CT scan, which they had billed my insurance for. The cost of the disc to copy the CT is probably no more than .99 cents. The front office staff were professional and effecient and Dr Miron and his assistant were extremly profesional and engaging. I work for a major surgical group and I would want to model our practice on the way I was treated by CDO&MS. I do not look forward to the surgery, however I feel confident in my choice to have it with Dr. Miron and CDO&MS. read more

Dental implants are the biggest racket going. I had an old crown go bad and I did not deal with it in time to save the tooth. It had to be extracted. My dentist told me the only way to go was dental implant so I went to these people because they said Dr Miron participated in my insurance. They gave me a written estimate of the whole procedure. Turns out the only part of it that was covered by the insurance was the extraction, which was about 200 dollars compared to 4900 for the rest of the procedure. I took out a loan and got the procedure. It was actually 3 procedures over 15 months. That did not include the final stage which is the actual replacement crown. I was told that the regular dentist would handle that and it would be covered by insurance. So now I have the very expensive peg in my jaw and am ready for the last phase at my regular dentist and I find out that it will be 2100 dollars more because that crown isn't actually covered by insurance. So that's SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for one tooth. Get all the facts before you start. These guys are getting really rich off the implants. read more

After having issues with Adirondack Oral & Maxillofacial surgeons (read my other review for them) I was happy that I called Capital District OMS. The office is very well organized and efficient - being able to fill out the patient information sheet online saved a lot of time in the office. We were able to consult with the doctor and got all of our questions answered prior to scheduling my son's wisdom teeth extraction. Plus, the estimate is 1/2 what the other place was going to charge. Everyone we met today was very friendly and nice. Looking forward to the procedure which was scheduled at a very convenient time for us. read more

I met with Dr Beck for a pre-surgical consultation. He asked me if I had insurance, then proceeded to take another 360 panoramic xray which I already had done at my dentist's office. He talked about money more than once and I had a nightmarish experience with the receptionists trying to figure out if they took my insurance or not (1199SEIU). I found out they didn't take my insurance when I received a hefty bill for my consultation appointment a few weeks later. Everyone was nice on the surface, but I hit so many roadblocks that I'm glad I ended up going with Adirondack Oral Surgery in Clifton Park instead. She wanted to collect money from me right there on the spot in the exam room. I told her it needed to go through the insurance company first. She said that they already called and was told that it wasn't covered. I walked out refusing to pay right there. I called my insurance company when I got home. They told me it WAS covered at 80%. Dr. Miron and the team at CDOMS were great. Just like any other procedure you are about to go through, you should ask a lot of questions and fully understand the process. I made sure I was aware of every detail and once I felt I was fully informed, I had no problem letting them do their jobs. Others have reviewed doctors and shared negative experiences, however when it comes to healthcare in general, do your best to vet each doctor and their practice before signing any paperwork. I was very nervous as this was only my second surgical procedure I have ever had done, however their expertise and overall kindness made having my wisdom teeth pulled feel 'painless'. read more
