This is some of the worst quality in meat that I have ever tried to eat. The chicken is probably the "best" of the worst. The seasoning is pretty much glued to the meat, so good luck getting it off of you do not like it. The beef is so tough it almost impossible to chew. Cook it however you want, it still tastes awful. Didn't purchase seafood, but I can only imagine the possible outcome. The salesmen are great salesmen, not great men. They will lie and bully you into feeling like you owe them a purchase. Like they went out of their way to get you this great meat paste. They almost will not take no for an answer. *SCAM* - Rancid meat for an inflated price! A man in a white truck with a freezer in the back came to our door and tried to sell us meat. My husband thought it was a great deal and grabbed his wallet. While they were talking I googled "door-to-door meat salesmen" and found it was a common scam where they attempt to sell you bad cuts that are often rancid for a highly inflated price. My husband actually handed over his card for $549 for three boxes of meat. Luckily our bank flagged it as fraud and sent a text to confirm. My husband was going to clear the transaction but I stopped him and explained the scam. While my husband called the bank I went and snatched my husband's card back and told the guy we were no longer interested. Narrowly escaped this one. Pros: it's a decent amount of meat for the money, the fact that it's frozen saved quite a few trips to the grocery store Cons: the salesmen/company lied through his teeth: sold us "chicken breasts" that were actually tenderloins, sold us "t bone steaks" that were actually PORK (thank goodness we're not keeping halal or kosher), and sold us "filet mignons" that were sirloins. I have had more than 4 experience with the rudeness and flat out lies from this company! My other half got cornered after I flat out sad no and to leave my property. He caved and bought 4 filet mignon and some steaks. When the filet mignon defrosted, immediately you could smell that the meat was bad and it was still in the package. It clearly had dye in the package to cover the color of the actual meat. What makes me mad is these gentleman pray on people and could really make people sick! The FDA should pull all of the meat from this place and test it. Hope this helps others to not get ripped off. Tell them to get off your property and call police if need be. read more

I've dealt with other door-to-door meat sales companies before and gotten a great product. Capital Meats is NOT one of those companies. Foremost, all of their quality promises are straight-up lies. The meat shrinks to half its starting size when cooked, is tough no matter how you cook it, and completely lacks flavor. Accidentally chewing the gristle on the steaks has to be a form of torture under the Geneva Convention, and yet some of the steaks are more gristle than meat. I'm beginning to suspect it's actually rubber. Second, the salesmen are horrible, inconsiderate weasels. Pushy, rude, and so self-centered that it hurts. The latest one I encountered was in another area, and this guy was a real piece of work. He tried to guilt trip me about his wife and kid at home, and when I mentioned being on vacation in an attempt to be friendly, he had the nerve to snark about how he never gets vacation. He was angry that I didn't buy as much as he was trying to push on me, and his tone implied that he thought I was an entitled harpy. By the end of our exchange, he had become downright rude and bordered on nasty. Had he not offered me such a good deal on the meat (big mistake that was), I would have had some choice words for him. In hindsight, I regret giving him the sale more for his attitude than the quality of the meat. My advice? Turn them away. Always. No matter what. If they keep coming back over and over, tell them that they next time they show up, you'll file a harassment complaint. I hope these people go out of business. read more

These people are creepy. Last fall they interruped me in my backyard (which is fenced) while I was using my weedeater and basically forced me to my front yard where their truck was and another guy was bringing out cases of meat to me. I was really freaked out that it was a baiting scam and some dude was ransacking my house...that didn't happen but I was weirded out over the possibility. After telling me about the huge discount and then telling me that the box of meat was $500, I told them that $500 was basically my monthly food budget and that I wasn't going to waste it on meat, since I purchase my meat from Omaha Steaks. Then the guy holding the meat boxes got an attitude and stormed off to the van. Then, the 2nd time was yesterday, where again I was in the yard and he came up to my garage and asked me if I lived there and was in charge. He then proceeded to give me the "my boss told me I could sell this at cost today" speech. So, I nipped it in the bud and told him that I purchase my meat from Omaha (which is awesome). This guy then asked if any of my neighbors would be interested...uhhh NO! Terrible!! When these scammers came to the door they use every slimy sales technique in the book. We finally bought a couple boxes to try just in case it was actually a good deal - knowing that if it's too good to be true it is. The meat is TERRIBLE...I mean it is literally the worst meat I have ever tasted. After it was defrosted it turned a horrible brown color so we know it wasn't fresh. I've never had a steak look like that. Stupid me cooked and ate it anyway - and the steak shrunk to about 1/2 the size. It ruined the meal. It is tasteless and a consistency I have never experienced before. Terrible company who clearly cannot sell their unimaginably sub par product in a legitimate way. The sirloin filets were so fatty and flavorless but out of respect my family tried to eat this rancid meat but after a few cuts of trying to get a good bite and failing, I told my family not to worry about trying to eat it and I told them how sorry I was for cooking such an awful meal for their Christmas Dinner. A capital meats van pulled into my neighborhood earlier this week and I was honestly surprised I had never seen one before. I was immediately impressed by the professional image they gave off, right off the bat. The salesmen were extremely respectful, patient, and kind, and their service was quick and convenient. Not once did I feel pressured or harassed like I would with normal door to door salesmen. On top of that, the product was INCREDIBLE. I bought multiple boxes and have already gone through most of them! The chicken was outstanding, and the beef had little to no gristle whatsoever. I thought I would give them a try but I made the mistake about not researching them when the sales person showed up on my doorstep. A salesman came around in a Van with the name Capital Meats on the side and walked up to my Front Deck and started selling me on his Meat's claiming his Meat was top of the line and very inexpensive so I listened to him ramble on. He starts opening up Boxes with Tee bone steaks, Filets, Rib Eye's, Burger's and such and at the time they really looked pretty damn good so he tells me I can buy 8 boxes of different types of meat for like $300 or so Dollars and I was like well damn dude I don't have that kind of Money so he says well I tell you what I'll give you all 8 for $150 and you can choose what ever combination you want. Sounded great to me so I ran into the house to get the cash and paid him. It wasn't till the next night when i got home for dinner and stuck them Bad Boys on My grill that I seen how small they were now that they were no longer frozen. Omg they looked like something you feed your child, had to be about 6 ounces. The web site is selling 4 tee bone steaks for $100.00 so after seeing that number I thought I was getting a great deal but come to find out they are only really about 6 ounces it's a sham. SCAM!!! DO NOT BUY!! (Would give negative stars if allowed) I hate to admit I fell victim to these lying, pushy salesmen, who told me the date on the package was the date of the day it was packaged. I don't know why I believed him, but I ended up with $80 of expired steak (if that's what you want to call it). The date is from 9 months ago. I started cooking it, and out of the package, I noticed a strange odor that was unpleasant, but not quite "spoiled" smell. I started cooking it, and the odor intensified to what can only be described as a body odor essence mixed with unwashed feet. It was disturbing, and I was alarmed. I tasted a small piece and realized that I have been duped. This is garbage, and that's exactly where it belongs. Luckily, I post-dated my check, and I will be stopping payment first thing in the morning. I am angry. I am angry I let thus person into my home, let him tell me lies, then not only did I give into the pressure, but I actually cooked and ate this expired meat. My husband ate about a quarter, then started feeling ill. This man drove up in a pick up with a chest freezer in his trunk, and a Capital Meats magnet on the door. He put several boxes of meat on my living room floor, my dog was front and center sniffing around the packaging, to which he said nothing. Gross. This is a salesman that goes door to door using a non refrigerated van selling meats at a supposed discount in Alexandria VA under the name "Certified Meats inc" same products as "Capital meats". Salesman is a true con artist with amazing stories of Butchers buying his products, he says never to thaw any of the products as they can be cooked from frozen state. He will take cash and if pay by check will (and did for us) rush to bank without delay (he did so for us) leaving us with a hand receipt he almost conveniently forgot to leave and when did without his name or signature charging us 5% tax which is not reflected in receipt, guy lives in Bethesda MD supposedly and does very good business as he has many sales people working door to door under him. I have video and pictures of this salesman that I cannot post but its one of those white cargo vans with magnetic signs on the front doors. We were ripped off by over $500. We have contacted him and asked he return to take the meat back and refund us the cash he so quickly withdrew, because we did request it within the 72 hrs he is mandated by law so we will see, more to follow. read more

Please don't make the mistake of buying!!! This is a major scam, I wish I hadn't wasted money on. The sales people flat out lie to you to make a sale. The "premium beef" they said they were delivering was not what they actually ended up bringing into my house. I thought I could use the hamburger patties as ground beef for tacos or spaghetti. They told me they were so great and what the restaurants used but now I know that they are large patties because they are 50% fat!!! So disgusting! Even after draining off the fat the taste of the meat was so terrible I couldn't use it in anything. The steaks were so chewey and stringy they are inedible. The chicken is so over marinated that when you cook it you can't even see when it's done cooking because it's so stained. The seafood has been the most disgusting shrimp and calamari I have ever tasted and has to all be thrown out. Such a waste of money and a disappointment. The vacuum seal released within days! There were so many holes in the packaging it was ridiculous. This is fraud what they are doing to families. They are going out and robbing these innocent families of their food money using lies. These guys came around our neighborhood claiming that another customer had bounced a check on a large order and they were going door to door to sell off the items in the order for cash to minimize their losses. They would not produce company IDs or business cards. They only documentation they had was one very well-worn brochure. The whole thing was very fishy (no pun intended), and who knows if the food products are even safe? One of their drivers was behind me on the road and unhappy that I tried to allow someone else to get ahead of me into traffic, so he pulled up alongside me to holler repeatedly that I was a "f***ing idiot!" and a "f***ing slut!" Seriously? This is how their employee chooses to behave at all, let alone when he knows full well how blatantly he is representing his company? Has anyone writing a review even tried their meat? I chatted with them for a bit to find out more about the meat and their company. I bought a box from them in the past to check it out and I wan't disappointed so when they came back 5 months later I was pretty interested. All meats are USDA inspected and approved. The beef is from grass fed cows in Illinois. Chicken box is full of breasts prepared in 4 or 5 different "Rachael Ray" seasonings along with a bag of tenders. Seafood is this and that from different national and international regions. To me the meat is good, but freshness goes away after a few months. It's guaranteed for 12 months so if anything happens, like freezer burn or unsealed bag, call the guy who came to your house and they will swap it out with a fresh box. They don't have anything with them because they're not door salesman. It is a little sketchy and they are a bit forward with their sales tactics but it's a legit business that does most of their transactions over the internet. I bought a pretty large order because the price was right (you can usually get the to drop the price) and it seemed pretty convenient since everything is vacuum sealed and flash frozen. If I want steak for dinner I drop a few in the fridge for tomorrow and let them thaw overnight. You can't beat a $3 steak. read more

Apparently Capital Meats has their independent sales people memorize a script. They come to your house late at night saying they were making a delivery in the area and stopped by to get rid of some of the leftover meat on their truck, which is bull. Then they proceed to drag out every box of meat from the truck, making it harder to say no and get rid of them. I was not prepared to spend over $350 on meat that day, including $12 for check verification (another line of bull), but I couldn't get rid of the guy. Both my husband and I experience negative physical reactions from their hamburgers, which were extremely greasy. I want to return it all, but I know the salesman, who was obviously a liar and very manipulative, will try to talk me out of it (already happened once when I complained to him about the package leaking all over the place when I was defrosting it in the refrigerator.) So disappointing. We placed an order with a door-to-door rep because we really dislike shopping, and well, he was there. Buying meat off guys in a truck is probably a red flag, but lets look past that for now. Bought two cases of beef and one of chicken. The chicken was actually decent - it was always moist, unnaturally plump, the kids loved the tenders, and the seasoned ones were very flavorful (tho sometimes over-seasoned). The steaks, however, were low quality, tough, and chewy. We had to turn most of it into ground beef just to get through it all. read more

Everytime I would speak with my husband about it, that i wasn't really comfortable getting the food, they would interrupt me and come by a different approach.
