I would give them a big fat zero if available. Two assholes seen me out front of my house ran into my back yard to hustle me they acted like they were decipals of god really laying on the I am sure rehearsed bullshit lines. They were in the area and could offer me this fabulous deal of a lifetime spitting out quotes how much meat cost. The real problem is this stuff is dog meat off tasting and tough. I was embarrassed to even give it away. This was the first time I ever got scammed. Unless you like tough low grade meat stay away don"t even give them the time of day. They drive white vans they had the nerve to come back I gave them a few choice words they will never come to my house. It amazes me that people go to this place and apply for a job. Every month, they get a new batch of "reps" that they convince to drive around in their vans selling their low quality, high priced product. Actually, it isn't that surprising as the applicants all have the same things in common. They are all high school education or less and actually think they are going to make a living doing this. Naturally, during the "interview" process they will show videos of someone who has made a great salary doing this job. Employee turnover here is high once they realize that the they will be charged $40 a day to drive around in the van they give you. This is money you will owe the company regardless of whether or not you sell something. You are also operating as a subcontractor so you have no benefits. They give you boxes of frozen meat and tell you what the cost is per case. It is up to you to charge as much as you can for the case, thus increasing your margin and profits. The only problem is that, who in their right mind would buy meat from a guy selling it from the back of a van? Last time I checked, they still sell meat in supermarkets. read more

I am not a customer of capital meats but thought it important I add to the conversation. Nothing new to report here - last week the capital meats van stopped near my house and the two employees were on the verge of a fist fight. The neighbor's child was scared and ran into his house. Yesterday they made an unsolicited call to my house. When I didn't answer the door (because why would I?) the guy started yelling into my window. He wasn't wearing a uniform and wasn't professionally dressed. I'd say capital meats is more of a legitimate menace in my community than a business. read more

I get the other reviewers reviews. The meat is not all that great. I got their "pastured meat", variety pack with steak and burgers . Prices was 2sething but we agreEd the fair price was 160. So it was like 6 dollars per vacuum pack of meat. I don't really knock the salespeople. Young guys, but they working and not bumming, like I see so many at my work. A little aggressive tactics on the sales people, but I talk like that too. Won't do it again but it isconvient packaging for my wife when cooking for our kids... Usually we go to Costco or Laurel meat market or weis. 120 would be a real fair price for the product since it is "quality" meat. Just had a salesman come up to my door. I told him no, I do not have money for it this week. He then said to me "well aren't you on food stamps". Which I am not, and was VERY offended by this. I think you need to train them a little better. This meat is wonderful. What a great deal!! I have had the chicken which is my very favorite. All flavors were delicious. The crab cakes are great and the bbq ribs are awesome as well. The pork case is a favorite of mine too. I love the sausage. For the grill..the burgers are the best I've found. I have always had a great experience with the salesmen that come to my door. They have been very professional and respectful. I will be a customer for a long time. read more

Not only did one of the sales reps bother me way later than any annoying door-to-door salesperson should, after declining twice, and the third time even speaking my opinion on the fat-covered cardboard this company calls meat, after which he promptly implied I didn't "cook the meat right." Old adage of traveling salesman. You basically are rolling the dice with your dinner buying from traveling van meat dealers. Gas station food is probably a step above the products sold by them. Meat is freezer burned and has signs of going bad. No customer service representative will call you back and don't expect a refund for expired meat. read more

I'll never buy your meat after this: not from a seedy "salesperson" that threw unboxed frozen meat right on the steps of my front porch, or in Whole Foods (the supermarket that carries this brand according to the name-dropping "salesman" that said it numerous times) nor anywhere else, including but not limited to the place serving the very last steak on this PLANET. All I asked this man was for a business card. At least *I* was trying to be polite. Instead, he wadded up a dirty brochure (his only one) shoved it back in his pocket, and said,"I'll be right back"and proceeded to get a box of frozen meat from his truck and shook his head and told me I wasted his time when I refused to shell out $150.00 for it. "Well what CAN you buy, then?" -he had the nerve to ask as he angrily packed up his frozen meat like a sullen first-grader taking his toys home. I was bothered that this 'salesman' took it upon himself to drive down my private driveway and stand in my parking area yelling and waving at me, while I was in the house. As I was walking to the parking area - about 100ft from my house - he took it upon himself to enter my gated yard. Totally freaked me out! I told him I wasn't interested and he kept pushing for me to 'take a look'. I have to say I have never been happier to have a video security system. The whole experience was 'odd' to me. He was offering me half price on a box of seafood that he just pulled out of a truck! Gross. Forget the whole sales pitch - my issue is - why would you enter a private drive in the middle of the afternoon? Do I need to worry about someone breaking into my home now? Totally creepy. read more

I made the mistake of buying this slop they call meat, it wasn't even close to being beef. I tried to feed it to my Mastif who is so obsessed with eating that she will eat her own feces, and she wouldn't touch it!! That really concerned me to say the least. These meats were very chewy, fatty and did not taste at all like pure beef or like chicken that I normally buy fresh from the store. The salesman was extremely pushy, walked into my house and started putting boxes of meat on my dining table even after I told him I really wasn't interested. these meats were horrible and I will be throwing out the last 9 or so pieces. read more

Don't let the salesmen pressure you. My mother bought $300 worth of meat and seafood from the salesmen that showed up at our house. The shrimp tasted like chlorine and the steak was so chewy, and had almost a rubbery texture. Mind you we had a medium rare filet mignon and there was no tenderness at all. The guys showed up at our house randomly this afternoon showing us boxes of meat that they had to get rid of because of of holiday overstock or some other line they were using to boost sales. The guys were friendly. While I got the sales pitch from one guy the other was in the van smoking a cigarette. The cuts of meat were small and did not look good. You could see the fat and they were a dingy grey color. I told them I wasn't interested without doing a little research on the company but if they wanted to leave a card or phone number I would be happy to check them out and call if I was interested. After they claimed not to have anything to leave me, they left. I helped the guy carry the cases back to the van and when I got back to the house, my wife commented that I reeked of cigarette smoke, just from carrying a box ten feet. I have a feeling that they'll be back and when they do I'll be sure to refer them to this post and all the other ones on this site. read more

Yesterday a Capital Meats rep. came to my house to try to sell us meats. When leaving the property after realizing nobody was home, they drove in our yard, got stuck, dug into the grass 5 inches deep to create a huge tire marks across the yard. While trying to get unstuck, the tires proceeded to spin dirt on my house, windows, walkway, and siding. They drove off without cleaning or offering to clean a thing. I have been trying to get in touch with the number on the brochure, but of course the voice mail isn't set up... class acts! read more

Pushy salesman, they show up at your door way after business hours claiming they have left over stock in the truck and are going to give you a great deal. Then proceed with a very hard to follow pitch and not actually telling you how much per pound you are paying. When they were told I recently put an order in for a whole side of beef from a local butcher they suggested that I should cancel that order and buy from them claiming that I have 3 days to cancel. I'm not sure where they are getting their incorrect info from. Maybe they think a beef order applies to the Pennsylvania home improvement consumer protection act and therefore I can legally cancel my order within 3 days of ordering. I don't think beef falls into the home improvement work category. I wouldn't ever consider buying from this unprofessional pushy company. Just look at the other reviews, I think it pretty much sums up capital meats business strategy. I was not impressed with the look of their meat or the way the pushed their way in the house when my wife answered the door. read more
