We were tricked into thinking these points were a great value with tons of flexibility that we could use to "stay anywhere" at exciting resorts or cash them in to pay off maintenance fees. What they don't tell you is that the cash value of all these points you buy is next to nothing. We couldn't pay off our maintenance fees with them. We couldn't even pay off a quarter of our maintenance fees with them. Not long after our initial purchase with Capital Vacations, we went back for an owners meeting, which was actually just another sales presentation. By our sales rep's own admission, these basic level memberships are very limited. SO WHY SELL THEM? We were worn down and caved in to upgrading. Then again when we went to Orlando, we had another required meeting to go to. During this meeting too, our sales rep confessed that our current level got me "very little" for our money. He got belligerent when we didn't want to upgrade again, and now we want to get out of this altogether. I purchased one of their cruise packages at a conference recently. The next day after thinking it over I decided the deal wasn't for me and I began contacting the company for a refund within 30 days of purchase. As long as you call in to the phone number given in so many reposnse messages here on Yelp the process of getting a refund is easy! Joshua Royce and a colleague in customer relations were very helpful in getting my refund, plus followed up to make sure I was aware the refund was being processed and taken care of. read more

My wife and I purchased a vacation experience earlier this year while walking around at a local festival. We had just gotten married in March and still needed to find something to do for a honeymoon. They had their little tent out and asked if we were interested in a vacation getaway deal. We played a little plinko type game and "won" the best package deal, 4 days at a resort in their system for $249. They gave us the quick pitch and showed us all the places we could go, and we decided to go ahead with it. They scanned my ID and had us pay for the package right then and there, telling us we had one year to the day to use this package. I was initially hesitant to do any of this because I don't trust random vendors trying to sell you anything but food and maybe clothes at a festival, but we thought this would be a great way to plan a honeymoon. However the following Monday, I found that I had been charged $747 total for what was only $249. I called my bank immediately to dispute this, and they were able to open a case, but luckily after working with some department two days after I left a voicemail, they completely refunded the 2 additional charges, and refunded me $200 of the initial $249. This all said, we still hadn't decided what we would do for our vacation. A few months pass and my wife and I are finally in the car together when they call. While going through the questionnaire, they ask how old we are, to which I responded honestly and said 26, since I figured they already had my info. The call then immediately drops, which I had at first attributed to being in the middle of nowhere. We call back and they tell us we were not eligible to use their service because we are too young. They asked if I would be 28 by the time the package expires. I said no, if I was 26 when I bought it, how would I possibly be 28 in the span of a year? They then asked if we had anyone who we wanted to give this to. I said no, we purchased this for our honeymoon, we're not trying to give this to someone else, and furthermore, no one told us we needed to be 28 to use one of their vacations. Not the person at the festival, not anyone who I had spoken with, no one. Yes, I could have looked at the terms and conditions, saw the note about being 28, and asked for a refund sooner, but when they scan my ID to put all my information in there, and they don't say something, that's on them. It makes me feel gross even now, 6 months after it happened. Of course this meant the conversation was over, and I thought that would be the end of it. But today they decided to call to see if maybe I want to give this to someone else, maybe my parents, maybe an older friend, whoever so they can get their money out of them. When I said I didn't want to do that, the agent quickly said "okay have a good day" and immediately hung up. So I was already pretty disappointed at the fact that this was sold to us without pointing out the biggest hitch in even using their services, and that they somehow "accidentally" charged us three times for what was supposed to be a single purchase, but I was floored at how awful their agents are with straight up hanging up on me while on the phone. And the relentless calling in the months after the purchase was almost invasive. It reached a point that I just stopped answering the calls because I would just say the same thing that I said the last time, and even gave a timeframe for when we would be able to work with them, but that meant nothing to them. Overall, I would never ever recommend this company to anyone. It's a timeshare selling scheme that promises nice vacations, but seems to do everything in their power to make it so that you don't actually go on a vacation. I have had a capital vacation unit for 10+ years. I went to one of their free 3 day stays and was told I need to convert my timeshare to a different type, the old one isn't up to date and if I bought a new timeshare, it would cover my timeshare fees. Several months later Capital vacations called and offered a free 3 day stay. There they told me I needed another time share so all my fees would be covered. I told them the last time share I bought was supposed to cover all fees. They said I had to have two to do that and that would not start till January. January 7, I called and was told I would have to pay all fees until September, and I could only use points for half of the fees. This business is a scam, DON'T FALL FOR IT. My mother and I booked a vacation. And part of the deal was that I needed to attend a "Tour" this tour told us about a bunch of vacation locations and destinations and how their club membership was different from a traditional time share. First things first I asked them after one hour from the start what the cost was. I told them I understood the benefits and wanted to move past. They kept on going refused to show me a price until he felt ready. This guys name was Austin. I got up to get a coffee and there was an elderly woman with a walker being held in a seperate room then her sister who she came with. Odd but definitely a divide and conquer situation. This poor woman was tired this was 3 hours in and they wouldn't let her leave. She asked for time to think about it and wanted to come back in the morning. He kept telling her the offer wasn't going to last this long. This woman looked at me and thought I was an actor from Tv- I have never been on tv she had seen me in the group part. She visually and mentally didn't need a vacation package. I go back in and they finally gave me some numbers and I kindly told them it would not fit my budget but no thanks. He insisted he was my friend and that he was trying to help me and my mother would suffer if I didn't take his vacation package lol! Then told me my kids were at a disadvantage if I don't take them to travel. Like whatttt!! So I told him respectfully I appreciate your time but I'm leaving your not my friend don't call yourself that because I told you kindly no thank you and you want to argue with me because I told you this doesn't fit my budget. For 75,000 "points" was 16k with almost 4% interest monthly payments of 212 and 3700 down. I didn't go in there prepared to pay that kind of money and this man knew I was a single mother of 4 with one heading to college in the fall. To me traveling is an opportunity I take when I can do it. But I'm not going to add extra monthly expenses for 10 years. Could it save me money over the next decade possibly but that didn't even include the annual membership fees which are probably another 1,000 a year. I was with silver lake resort timeshare in Orlando Florida for more than 15 years and I was happy with that, then capital vacation bought 85% of the resort and add $700 as HOA fees plus $450 for maintenance. HOA will be more than $1000 on year 2025. this means for couple of days vacation in silver lake resort I have to pay more than $1500 this year if I will use it or not. This is scam. they want the owners to exit and leave the condo for them to scam more people. I don't recommend dealing with capital vacation based on my experience. read more

My experience with Capital Vacations from start to finish has been absolutely unbearable. At every turn, they have tried to upcharge us for more and more. They charged us nearly $15,000 to switch over the a points based system, and then another $38,000 to supposedly enhance our vacation experiences back in July of 2022. What came of all that spending? Unfulfilled promises on what they had sold us, and more sales pushes to add onto what we have already purchased. Our points seemed to devalue, restrictions were imposed on where we could travel, and all Capital had to offer as a remedy was more sales pitches. This has become such a source of stress and financial strain that we had to reach out about it. But the customer service has been heartless and helpless. They are happy to leave us facing incredible bills with nothing of value to show for it. We were hoping they would try and make things right, but they have refused to do so. Capital Vacations has been grossly unprofessional and exploitative of us. When we got this on our honeymoon, they never used the word timeshare. They kept calling it a club or a membership. We had no idea it even was remotely like a timeshare. Then, we went to an update meeting in 2024. We thought we were just modifying our plan to make our payments through a new credit card that would earn us points for our club fees, only to find out they signed us up for yet another timeshare! They have used every trick in the book to get us on the hook for more money for something we have never even been able to use. I cannot believe how low they'll stoop to shake us down for more money. First off if it wasn't already clear from the other reviews, don't ever buy a timeshare. My review is about the incentives Capital Vacations offers to attend their timeshare pitch. At a local festival, I signed up for a package called air, land, and sea which cost $399 up front and included a 3 night stay in a hotel in Pigeon Forge, as well as a voucher for a 4-7 night cruise upon attending the pitch. Taxes and fees not included in the hotel and cruise stays. We were put up in a Courtyard Marriott in Pigeon Forge, which was very nice, although I've heard others were put up in a crappy motel so YMMV. I paid $108.80 in taxes and fees for the 3 night stay in this hotel room. The cash value of this stay was around $743. Upon attending the pitch, I received a $100 visa gift card and the cruise voucher. The pitch was fairly low pressure, just keep saying NO! To use the cruise voucher for a 4-night cruise, I paid $503.70 in taxes and fees. The cash value of the cruise was $696.88. Paid: $1011.50 Cash Value of Incentives: $1530.88 In the end, I came out on top and saved around 30% on these two vacations, but overall I do not think attending a pitch meeting is worth the incentives. You have no choice in hotel or cruise line and travel dates are based on very limited availability by the booking company. If they had put me in a cheaper hotel Pigeon Forge, I may have even lost money from this package. Don't waste your time. read more

We were looking for a honest place but after 5 minutes talking to the sales rep he would not give us any information on Capital Vacations. He insisted that we sign a paper, so Capital could contact us at anytime with sales information and sit in the sales meeting with him. I said we are interested in learning more about you, before we give you any information from us. He said no. He wanted email address, more phone numbers, financial information, credit card, and etc. before he would talk anymore with us. I said you all ready prefilled the form with more information than I would like you to have about me and we said no more from us. We asked if we could find more information on them now. He said no to anymore information about Capital Vacations unless we sign. He asked us to leave. They took over management services at our resort recently. We wanted to know more about them. We noticed trash not being emptied, because I left it there days before and our place wasn't as clean as it was in the past. I was sold a vacation and was told that we had 30 days to cancel. I tried for 2 weeks to cancel this and could not get a hold of anybody. I finally did today and talked to Whitney Edwards and at first was told that my 30 days were up and then they said we were within the 30 days but we needed to have a specific reason. I told them I had changed my mind and that wasn't good enough. Why had I changed my mind. So then I said my health wasn't good enough to travel and they said I lived close enough that wouldn't be an issue. Then she wanted to know if the Dr told me I couldn't travel. Then they have you come back within 6 months for an owner meeting to learn how to use your points. I recently was sucked into giving Capitol Vacations $299 for 3 nights in Hollywood. FL, on the beach. I was told at the NYC Travel Show I would have to "take the tour" for the hard-sell spiel when I said "no thanks" and started to walk away. I went over and over the point that I would not be listening to the sales talk and he said yes, I wouldn't have to go to the talk. (Should have gotten it in writing) Fast forward to the bait and switch! They tell me that was incorrect, that "everyone has to take the tour" and that it is too late to get my money back. Went to Silver Lake Resorts in Orlando for a nice ,simple , first vacation in a very long time. Got ambushed about a timeshare (that we did not sign up for but, we're told in order to get our parking pass we had to do the presentation) It ruined our whole second day ( we had plans) After reading all the reviews ( which we should have done first) everybody seemed to have a similar story. Ambushed into a timeshare presentation , Nice salesperson, bad salesperson and then hero salesperson . That's the game people. It's the good cop /bad cop thing ( like an interrogation) Granted, I've only seen them on Dateline and related shows but, you get the idea. If I could give zero stars I would, very deceptive. We made the mistake of upgrading to be able to take what they call a 'Dream Vacation'. We boo one to Myrtle Beach and it was a 'Nightmare Vacation'. The accommodations were sub par. Upon arrival we were sent to an office to receive our parking pass but, that's when the lies started. We were told we had to go to an owner's update, which we knew nothing about. The guy told my wife that he spoke to her on Friday (a couple of days prior) and sh said that she had spoken to nobody. When he rudely insisted he gave us the phone number and I told him that he had the wrong number. I called that number later and the lady I spoke with said she received a voicemail but never spoke with anyone because the voicemail made no sense. LIES. We went to the owner's meeting and when we complained about the accommodations they told us that they would get us moved to a different place, never heard back from anyone!! THIS COMPANY IS THE WORST! Don't waste your time with their hard sell and lies. We recently stayed at Calypso Cay for a week. The lies started at check-in. We were told by the guy that issued us our parking pass and told us to attend the sales promo scheduled for the next morning at 9:30, that our condo would be free and our sales promo would be 90 mins tops. We are current time-share owners and have been to many sales promos over the years so we know how they work. We arrived at 9:30 and had to wait 30 minutes until we were sent to have a free breakfast upstairs at their sales facility when a person arrived and put us in a room, with a few others, to watch a 20-30 min presentation on Capital. Then a sales rep met us to go over the usual sales questions and what they have to offer. We told her up front we are not buying anything and were happy with our current time share program. But...she went on and walked us over to show us the newly renovated condo which was basically what we were staying in but ours had not be remodeled. Waste of time. Then she proceeded to explain their program, but we said no. She told us to wait and brought over Danny, her manager, to try and sell us more by throwing in more deals. When he realized we were not buying anything more, he said we needed to meet with the closer, a guy from Morocco, to do a survey. Our sales lady was nice and I actually felt bad for her because we had no intention of buying their program which was more that what we already had. And higher maintenance fees. The "closer" was nice at first and we went to his back office and he tried to sell us on giving us 200K points and a cruise for $2K just to try their program. We told him NO for the last time! He then got up from his desk, left the office and came back in and said, "You are done here"! So much for the hospitality you receive when you are a potential buyer but once they realize you are not buying, they treat you totally the opposite. We got up and went downstairs. I had asked about getting our condo comped which was promised at the front desk at check in. I asked the sales lady, the manager Danny, the guy from Morocco and they all just said they don't know about that. We were given a supposedly free condo stay for the future which the girl at the desk was very short with us and I asked her about the comped stay. She said talk to the receptionist. So we went to the receptionist and she said she didn't know anything about it. So I then asked to speak to the manager. Mimi Gonzales was the manager and took us back to her office and I explained to her that our 90 min tops presentations was now at 3 hours and 15 mins and we told her what was told to us about our room being comped at check in, which was a lie, and how badly we were treated by the "closer" from Morocco. She was very apologetic and said we would receive a call from her manager Patty and she will give us a free 7 day cruise. We told her this was the worst sales presentation we've ever been to. She brought the "closer" down to apologize to us and he just stood in the doorway and said, "You guys are still here. Is there a problem". I told him he was supposed to give us a survey on the presentation and he never did once he realized we were not going to buy anything. We at least wanted to give our sales lady a good review. She was nice and just doing her job. He never apologized and walked away once I told him about the survey he never provided to us. The manager came back in and said none of this never should have happened and gave us her phone number and we would be getting an email on our cruise on Monday, 2 days later. I sent her a text on Tuesday since we never heard from her, and then again on Wednesday. She said she had not forgotten about us but was buy on Monday. Her last text said she was sick and in Urgent Care. I then knew we would not be hearing anything from her and she was just as much of a scammer as the rest of the crew. I told her if I did not hear from her by the following Monday, I would be writing a review and here it is. I did receive a phone call from her boss Patty, but no message and I called her back with a message but never heard back from her. I know our situation was not unique. After reading the other reviews, this is normal behavior for this company if you don't buy from them. Nothing is free. From reading another review, I believe our "free condo" stay for the future comes with a price once you try to book it. We've been owners with Marriott and Sheraton Flex and have not received treatment like we did with Capital Vacations. This was the worst! Believe me when I say don't trust them and be careful what you agree to. Read the reviews online. Unless you are willing to accept their offers and their fees, then walk out of the presentation after 60-90 mins. They are hard sell and only care about their numbers. They come right out and say there is nothing to buy they are just there as advocates. Well about 2 hours later and a whole bunch of guys with dress shoes and no socks pass thru and your hit with an option to pay them to trade your deeded week for a measly 14k at 16% interest over 10 years. And when you hesitate they try to make you out to be a simpleton for not taking this great deal. And then when you want a chance to review it and let them know later it's a big this is a one chance only deal. Out the door and it's over. Now I was born at night but not last night. Anybody ever tell you it's a one time deal and then say you can't review it and get back you know it's a criminal enterprise. Our "advocate" was even violating his clients confidence by sharing their travel plans, pictures and text messages. BBB should shut this place down pronto. I purchased the Discover package for $2500. That buys me 200,000 points that I can use within two years. I'm not a normal owner so I would not have to pay maintenance fees. I booked my first vacation and they say I have to redo the tour or I have to pay $100 a night even though I paid $2500. They also stated I had to pay daily tax and resort fee as well. Almost 2 hours worth of phone calls to try and get it resolved and pretty much. The company is a pure scam. Now every time I schedule vacation with my 200,000 points I had to go spend an hour and a half with these bozos.
