Capital Carpet was recommended by a friend and Jay came out to measure my house the day after I called him. I went with catpet in the b we drinks and vinyl for the rest of the house. as soon as the painters were done Jay had his team out there within a week to do the floor and baseboard. the we're done in 4 days. I had a couple concerns so I called and the guys were back out that day and resolved the issues I had. job well done guys. Capitol Carpet provided very poor customer service and poor quality installation services for the new carpeting and wood flooring they sold us. While installing the new hardwood flooring next to the new carpeting they had laid a few weeks earlier, a flooring installer stained the new carpet with wood glue. The company had different technicians come out three different times to try to correct the problem by installing patches of new carpet. As the photos show the patched area is very obvious. The company claims (incorrectly) that we caused the stain or that it was caused by other workers - but no other workers were at the house and we did not go near the work area during the installation. The company has refused our request for a better solution than the patchwork correction they provided. In addition to the stain problem, the carpet was not seamed properly in another area (see photos). Each time we pointed out the uneven seam, the company owner stated that the seam "will eventually even out." It hasn't evened out 9 months after installation and the company refuses to correct the problem. read more

John (Father) and Jay (son) are as good as it gets. I really like supporting family owned, hard working businesses, and this is just that. We had Capitol Carpet demo and install all new engineered hardwood floors in our condo. Jay came over right away to measure and provided me a written estimate within 1 business day. We asked Jay how long the project would take, he told us, and he was true to his word. Since we were living in a hotel, you can imagine we didn't want this going over the promised time frame, and Jay delivered. The customer service of Capitol Carpet is top notch. Don't be fooled by their name - they have a HUGE selection of hardwood floors (engineered Kraus Floors is what we went with). There were a few minor things we needed them to come back and address after we had moved in, and they came back right away and addressed them. They really stand behind their installation and work. I will definitely be using them in the future. Again, this is a family run business and the communication and service is excellent. Jay provided me with his cell number and would text back, if not immediately, then within an hour. We love our new floors and also the custom size area rug we got from them too! Friendly, priced right, and great service. They said they'd be here at 9am for my carpet install - and we're here at exactly 9am & very friendly. I had commercial grade carpet installed in my garage for a "man cave" type of room - due to the size they had to use 3 pieces...but you can't even tell! You cannot tell where the seams are - which to me shows the installers took pride in the job. When I got a quote from a bigger national company (rhymes with Phlempire), they disparaged "mom and pop" businesses....meanwhile their quote was almost double the price and they were super shady! F them - support great local businesses like Capitol all day long !!! read more

I love it when mom and pop style shops like this provide just the sort of homely service that you would expect. Down with the corporations man. We had originally arranged for FloorZone to do our floors but after several unexpected extras and forgotten items we halted work at the point of our house having exposed subfloors. Being very wary at this point of contractors and their games, we went to a few flooring stores and John at capitol carpets melted away our fears. The professionalism and quality was top notch and the price was bargain basement. Floor Zone was trying to sell us on crack repair to our foundation, self leveling this and that, things we did not want or need. Every thing we agreed to was not on the contract and after they ripped our old floor up everything was suddenly extra. They over complicated a easy job. John from Capitol Carpet just recognized this was a straightforward job, gave us a bid that made us question how they made money because it was so inexpensive, and did the beautiful floors quickly and easily. Jay helped us with wall to wall carpeting in our new townhouse and with some wood-look vinyl flooring in a small bathroom. He was congenial and helpful at all turns. The only negative I feel is that we could have been given a bit better advice about what carpet product to choose. We have concerns about the delicate nature of the carpet we installed and whether it is right for us. We were new to all of this, and now realize that the wool berber carpet we chose was not the right choice for a household with two messy kids and parents who don't have the time or energy for careful maintenance of a delicate product. I guess we feel that Jay could have guided us a bit more towards something that was truly low maintenance. He did, in all fairness, originally suggest a more appropriate carpet, but when my wife didn't like the look of that one and we came up with alternatives, he was basically positive about every option. We needed more guidance than that. He probably should have told us that we should stick to something like "Pet Protect" carpet. I'm sure he was only trying to be agreeable, but he needs to give a bit more expert advice. The install was done on schedule and very quickly. We appreciated that. I will add that there were some issues with minor damage to the carpet during installation, but Jay and his installer came back two times to repair these issues. In other words his customer service is excellent. Just be sure to know what you really want and need. read more

I enjoyed my flooring experience with Capitol Carpet. Jay and his father, John, were very knowledgeable about the various resilient flooring options. Jay was very patient in showing me several flooring samples from different companies and explained their various benefits - like wear layer, plank width/length, installation, warranty, etc. Once I decided on the flooring manufacturer and color, my new floors were installed 2 weeks later. The installation process, lead by Caesar, only took 1 day. Caesar and his team showed up at 8:30 am and worked almost non-stop until 6 pm. They worked very fast and were very clean - sweeping up my floor before starting, sweeping up the sub-floor after removing the existing carpet and sweeping up the floor after they were finished with the installation. In addition, the price quoted by Capitol Carpet was very reasonable - I feel that I should have replaced my floors sooner! Nonetheless, I am planning to remodel my guest house and will work with Capitol Carpet again on the flooring there. Don't do it! These guys are shady and unethical. Nothing worse than deciding to do business with a company that you can not trust and believe me, you CAN NOT TRUST THESE GUYS. My wife and I did a lot of research when deciding on who to purchase our carpet from and John and Jay (the business owners)... at first anyway, seemed kind and courteous. My wife dealt with them mainly and after some thought, decided to give them our business. We had many concerns and called them regularly to ask questions and check to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted and were told we were getting. To start, we ordered padding and became educated about it. When the installers arrived, we knew something was wrong. The padding was of lesser quality of what we ordered. I immediately called Jay and he told me.... YOU ARE WRONG and WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE US TO DO? I simply responded, we want what we paid for and agreed to. He said without hesitation .... what we gave you ABSOLUTELY IS 8lb. 1/2" padding. I said, no, it's not. He argued with me and continued to tell us we were WRONG. So, I took note of the padding label and called the company direct. I asked their rep to please give me the specs on what they sent out and they confirmed what I already knew, that we were right and they were not being truthful. If they would have simply owned their mistake and apologized, ok, maybe I could live with that. But, Jay drive over with new padding and continued to, very aggressively might I add, tell us we were wrong and he was right. I then proceeded to tell him I confirmed with the co. before he arrived that what he was telling me was a lie and to stop treating us so poorly. After about 15 minutes, he was outside my home and I approached him telling him how disappointed I was in him lying to me and insisting he wasn't trying to pull a fast one. I was PISSED. Finally, he admitted he was wrong and he was young (23) and they made a mistake. I was still angry and asked for a discount. They agreed to save me $142 on an almost $2500 job. Fast forward 10 days and i call Jay and explain we're concerned about the carpet. He agreed to come over a few days later and arrived with his Father John, the owner. They entered my home with courtesy and took off their shoes and looked at the carpet. They said nothing to worry about and our concerns will disappear in 3 weeks and if not, to call them and they would make it right. They obviously wanted to brush their wrong doing under the rug and while they were there, I pointed out to the Father about my experience with his young, rude, uneducated son. I made it clear what they had done, which was to obviously just make a sale and give us whatever shitty padding they had in the warehouse. STILL, they took no responsibility. My wife comes out feeling hurt that these 2 shady characters lied and tried to cheat her and was very angry. They admitted that she should have been more careful when signing the agreement which stated 1/2" padding but not 8lb. We reminded them off our many calls to make sure we got what we were told we were getting and they basically just said, well, its your mistake. After my wife got a little heated, they turned around to not face facts and walked out of our home fast. They left abruptly, frustrated, and I followed expressing our continued discontent. They hopped in their car, said F U and WE DON'T CARE ... and off they went .... to scam another person. I KNOW these guys don't have our back and so I plan to deal directly with the carpet manufacturer about our issues and believe me, will express how this co. takes advantage of their customers and cannot even own up to their own mistakes. Unethical, untrustworthy, uneducated, rude, disrespectful are just 5 or many words I would use to describe these shady guys. The son obviously learned his terrible business practices from his horrible father. As I started this review, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS CO. I'm looking forward to they response to my review.... can't wait actually, and i know they will since their ego's won't allow it to just sit on the front of their yelp page without a response .... then, I can and will provide even more specifics about our encounter with facts, pictures, details to EVEN FURTHER PROVE what I am saying is the absolute truth. I bought wall to wall carpeting from this store and the owner raved so much about the carpet that I believed he was selling me something that he believed in. After around two months, the design and coloring of the carpet started disappearing! I went to the store and the owner said he would have the company contact me. The company contacted me and sent an inspector but nothing happened, and it was nothing but a formality, and I basically ended up with a carpet that looked nothing like what I had bought. In other words: a piece of junk! Had the owner not raved so much about the carpet, I would have never bought it. I counted on his expertise. He should have known better and should have simply said that he did not have enough knowledge about the carpet. read more

Within a week, the installer, Oscar was here with our new carpet. He and his helper did a fantastic job laying the carpet and installing new baseboards.
