I had a toothache for about three weeks. I first went to a dentist on Campbell. They took me in, I explained I was in pain, and the doctor did a cleaning and X-rays, ran my insurance, and sent me home saying that would help. I knew something wasn't right. A few days later, the pain came back. I then reached out to Western Dental in Santa Clara and scheduled an appointment. When I arrived, they told me they couldn't treat me because the other office had already charged my insurance for X-rays and a cleaning. I explained that I already had the X-rays, but the front desk assistants were very rude, left me standing there, and started talking to each other. After waiting several minutes with no help, I left. I went to another dental office that took X-rays and told me the only solution was to extract the tooth for $450 out of pocket. I didn't feel comfortable with that because I truly didn't believe extraction was the right answer. Finally, I called my kids' dentist and they recommended Capitol Dental Group. From the moment I called to the end of my visit, I felt listened to and cared for. Everyone--from the reception staff to the assistants in the back--was kind, professional, and patient. Dr. Elizabeth and Dr. Thinh were both incredibly caring and took the time to explain everything. We are already working on my dental issues, I'm not losing any teeth, and I am so happy I found this office. I will be bringing my entire family here from now on. I was pretty bummed about leaving the city with my previous favorite dental office because most of my most terrifying experiences in at the dentist were all in SJ during my younger years. I heard about this office from my brother & he has been going here for over 2 years. After 2 years of not having any dental visits, I knew I needed to find out soon. I love the feeling of my teeth after it gets cleaned. I made an appt last year & have come back 3x now (not planning on stopping either). It has been a smooth process for me everytime. I like the staff & place is extremely clean. I haven't gotten a chance to do anything else besides cleaning, but I do have to fix up one of my cavity soon so will be updating this review after that experience. I have been going to this dental office since November, and I have only had an amazing experience. Since COVID, I had not been to the dentist, mainly due my negative experiences at the dentist in the past. However, when transferring to Capitol Dental Group, I was pleasantly surprised. The staff treat you with respect, and for me, especially my doctor, Dr. Ben. My teeth are in pretty poor condition due to mental health, and so going to the dentist for a cleaning was a nightmare. I wanted my teeth to be better, but I understood that at their condition it showed plain neglect. When Dr. Ben came to analyze my teeth, I was expecting backlash, criticism, and ridicule. Instead, he not only showed understanding, but also empathy and compassion. He expressed his gratitude for me being honest and trying to do better, and to not be ashamed for such. Instead of focusing on my poor habits, he emphasized the consequences without causing fear. He was always calm, and did his best to help me understand my treatment plans. The following appointments, he noticed my habits improved and congratulated and praised me each time. A small gesture, with a large impact. We would also have casual conversation about my life and his in passing. In the beginning, I thought he was just making small talk and soon forget. However since then, he has brought up topics we discussed and details I mentioned that even I myself forgot about. He showed that he not only cared about his job, but also his clients, on a personal level. Younger me would be completely nonplussed if she were to hear this, but I now actually enjoy going to the dentist. He encouraged me to do better; at the beginning for him, and by the end for myself. Unfortunately, I found out today at the end of my dental filling that it would be his last day at this office. Hearing this news, I was honestly heartbroken. I mean, I was considering inviting him to my graduation! Despite only having 5 or so appointments with him, he has made such a large impact on my life--which shows exactly the type of dentist and person he is. He is not only a doctor, but also a caretaker. While I will be continuing with Capitol Dental Group due to it's reputation for this kind of hospitality, I will always regret not continuing with Dr. Ben. I was too afraid to ask him where he would be continuing, but I hope he reads this review and understand the impact he has made on one person's life. Made an appointment, filled out a form via online (which was very easy n fast to do) and when I arrived, the front receptionist were friendly! Connie was very nice and gentle with my teeth due to my sensitivity. She was informative throughout the process; I was asking her some questions, had answers to them and after care recommendations. Like other people have said, this place is shady. They started a procedure on my child and half way through they force me to pay them more money. They just completely stopped the procedure until I paid them (in cash). They wanted me to leave my kid alone with a man and go to front desk and pay more money. First impressions : - super clean - modern, grey & white interior - great staff! Staff greats you warmly and makes you feel welcomed! Which is great because some other dentist offices are exactly the opposite. They do offer TV's in every stall for the patient to watch. This has been one of the best dental groups I have ever been to. They do take Denti-Cal and did not charge me a thing for my dental cleaning. The sweet receptionist informed me right off the bat that they accept Denti-Cal but are only allowed to offer one cleaning per year according to Denti-Cal restrictions. Most dentists usually recommend 2 cleanings per year therefore my 2nd cleaning will have to be paid for out of pocket which I don't mind I believe the cash price for existing patients dental cleanings is around $50-$100. (I can't remember the exact price). I really appreciated how up front she was about the costs and I she made sure I felt comfortable with any future charges. Dr. Nick is such a great dentist. If you're debating between this dental office and another. This is definitely where you want to go! One staff member took my x-rays then brought me over to the teeth cleaning chair where Dr. Nick walked me through what he saw in the x-rays and did his normal cleaning routine. He made sure that I was comfortable the entire time. They even give you sunglasses to wear if you don't have your own on hand so that the light isn't shining right into your eyes. Even though I felt like I was seeing the teeth police, Dr. Nick is the nicest dentist ever! I can't say enough good things about this office. I think the facility is good. Staff is friendly. But the policy of charging medi cal holders is just deceiving. They get you in there then charge you for services that medi cal pays for. Or they don't tell you that you have to pay in cash before the treatment and then when you get there, they try to take the money from you. It's deceiving and I do not think it's right. They should not indicate they accept medi cal if they are not really going to accept it without first taking a "deposit." I paid $100 for teeth cleaning. But I know my insurance covers it. But for some reason this company collected $100 from me for the same service while taking my insurance information. But, if you are of the wealthy class who can pay out of pocket for your services, this is the place for you. read more

They did a filling on me and did it too high so I went back for them to fix it. Took 20 min for me to even be seen by a doctor. Filling was too high but still in pain. I called to schedule an appointment but they said I have to pay $25 for a missed appointment I don't even recall making. So currently still in pain from the filling which the doctor didn't even do. Halfway through my procedure the dentist left to help someone else so the assistant finished the filling that she ruined. Safe to say I will not be returning. read more

Very professional and knowledgeable in her field. Used out of box tactics to ensure comfort during my visit. She took the time to explain step by step of what was going on and how she planned to attack. Her and her team are very friendly, humorous, and incredibly clean. They made sure to make me feel as if I had known them for all of my life. If I were to recommend a dentistry, I'd 100% recommend Dr. Theresa Ta from Capitol dental group. The best experience I've ever had at a dentist! The entire staff was so nice, they offered to let me watch a movie while I was in my appointment which helped ease my dentist anxiety. The dentist that worked on me (I forgot his name I'm sorry ) was amazing he explained everything he was doing, kept checking in to make sure I was doing okay, checked for my gum health (which is the first time a dentist has ever done that for me) and educated me in what I can do to better my overall dental hygiene health. He took his time with the tooth cleaning and was very thorough which I appreciated because other places I've been to it felt very rushed and not thorough at all. I recently had a dental visit and the Capitol Expressway location with Dr. Nick. He has recently done a fair amount of work on my teeth in the recent months. On this visit, I was there for a root canal (something I PREFER over cavity fillings). Dr. Nick's work was absolutely EXCELLENT. When I saw my X-rays, I was flabbergasted! His work is/was "so BOMB!" There wasn't a thing out of place. It was absolute PERFECTION! :-) Dr. Nick has always been extremely professional with me. I'm workin' on him to make more jokes with me; but, he is awesome, nonetheless! I am glad that I was able to find such a nice team in the entire Capitol Dental Group from Dr. Nick to the ALL OF THE front desk staff. They are all fabulous and so professional. Moved to SJ and found this place from a friend. I've been going here for the last two years and am highly satisfied with their service. The hygienists' I have had have all been attentive to detail and have keep my teeth in great condition. The staff, including the Dentists are younger so I know they are up to date with their practice. They don't try to scam me, rather they provide recommendations based on my teeth's conditions. Inside is also nice and clean, very aesthetically pleasing. They also abide by Covid-19 restrictions, I see everyone is wearing masks and allow you to check in via phone. I had a great first visit today to get a sore area checked out and have a second appointment in a week. This first appointment, there was a bit of a wait in the waiting room but the girls up front were super attentive to letting me know what was going on. After being seated in a chair in the back the staff was very accommodating, I asked for a blanket and they had one right away. Also the doctor gave me sunglasses to shade my eyes from the bright examination light. He immediately figured out what was wrong and told me what to do on my own to help the issue. He cleaned the area and I will be going back for a cleaning and for a check up. We will see how this goes but so far I'm pleased with this office! read more
