Woooooooooah I went here from a groupon special, it cost me 45$ for a one hour float. I think the usual cost is in the 60$ range, which in my opinion is worth it, I've heard other float spas have smaller tanks... I'm 6'4" so a float room was ideal for me and the music that brought me out of my meditation was pretty cool, 5/5 will return. read more

Staff does a great job catering the experience to your level of exposure to floating. The room set-up is awesome. If it is your first time, I HIGHLY suggest the following: 1. Make sure you put your earplugs in all the way so that they completely cover your ears. This will take a little time, so be patient. If you don't, and water gets in behind the plug DO NOT push on the earplug. It'll hurt your ear like it did mine. I don't think they really emphasized this very well on my first trip and I paid for it later. Ended up having to go to the doctor. 2. If you wear contacts, take them out BEFORE you get there and wear your eyeglasses instead. After an hour of being in the tub, your skin is a bit slippery and you are also a little spaced out. Both makes it really hard to put your contacts back in. Plus, if you haven't FULLY rinsed off ALL of the salt from your face and hands, your eyes are going to get a BIG sting when you reinsert your contacts. 3. If you have anxiety/claustrophobia at all, I'd suggest first leaving the door to the tub open so that you can adjust and then close it once you've acclimated to the environment. To be honest, though the facility was clean, the shower didn't drain well - which kind of grossed me out - and my orientation did not go over the above points very well. Also, there was no one around when I was leaving which was also kind of weird. Finally, in the middle of the soak, I did want to turn the music off and, though I was told to "poke it hard" I tried and couldn't do it which was a drag because the music wasn't really doing it for me. read more

We had a great experience at Capitol Floats. The staffperson was very helpful and took the time to understand our background in floating (which was none) and gave us a great introduction. I appreciated that the facility in general didn't play too much into the "woo" and pseudoscience aspect of these types of treatments. The benefits of floating and meditation are well-documented, so stretching the science is unnecessary in my opinion.) The experience itself was top-notch, not at all intimidating, and extremely relaxing. I loved that you could take your time afterwards to sit in their very relaxing "living room" and read, draw, write, or just sip tea and space out. I've been quite undisciplined in trying to develop a meditation practice, and as a result, I'm not very practiced at it. It's difficult to let go, push through thoughts of work, stress, etc. The float tank seemed to cut through all of that, and while I still struggled with distracting thoughts, I could allow them to leave my brain much more quickly than I otherwise would have. I hope to improve my meditation practice this year, which I think will benefit my experience floating even more. My wife and I ended our very first experience by signing up for a membership. (FYI, the 2x per month membership is a great deal, since it's shareable with another person, you don't have to come in together, and entitles either of you to float additional times for $45.) read more

Omg my first time here! 5+ stars experience. I was looking for a sauna place to come n relax and found this hidden gems. I booked the 30 mins sauna online and the whole process was so smooth. The owner, Mike? I believe, is very nice and make me feel welcome, with my first time. He gave me a tour and introduced different services they have. My experience with their sauna was amazing, I literally sweat a lot since the Covid last year. After that, i feel amazing as i am writing this review. I definitely recommend to try this place out, at least go to 30 min sauna once a week, to get all toxicity out or body and improve the mental health as well. read more

The first time I went here it was a couple years ago and it was during a first time floater special. I've been here only that once but I still rave about my experience. The ambience, the workers and the feeling of pure relaxation after floating. I purchased more floats and was having technical difficulties. Jodi (sorry if I'm spelling your name wrong) is my hero. She took her time looking in my account and helping me so that I can use my floats. She was extremely kind and from this short experience I just know she's great at her job. Just experienced my first float...it was awesome! Before even showing up for my appt, Jodi was super friendly and encouraging! I showed up more than 15 min early, a mix of nerves and excitement! Nick was very friendly and invited me to the waiting area for tea, water or kombucha! When it was time, Nick explained the ins and outs of the room, the tank, beginning to the end. It was exactly as he described. Everything was calm, quiet and clean. A perfect set up for a great experience. Light on, light off, music on, music off, whatever you desire. Water was perfect temp. I went here on Father's Day with my siblings so that my dad can relax. There is a lobby where other guests can sit and wait for their person to finish with their float. Completely understanding that the lobby/couch isn't large. My siblings and I squished together to prevent taking a lot of space. I was laying down a bit but only because I was exhausted and worked a lot of hours to make Father's Day special. The receptionist then told me that since there are other guests coming. My siblings and I weren't allowed to sit in the lobby and suggested for us to sit outside or in my dad's car. I was enraged because since summer is coming, the weather is beginning to spike more. As we all sat outside, my siblings wanted to go inside where it was cool and a good temperature to wait for an hour. I couldn't go to the car since my dad took the keys inside the float room. My experience was pretty upsetting due to being kicked out of the lobby where adults can relax. We weren't making a lot of noise or a mess but got kicked out because they were kids. They could have asked for us to sit in the chairs instead of the couch but decided we needed to be kicked out. I don't think I would want to come back here. 3/10 read more

This was easily the coolest thing I've ever done. I'm not even joking I found this place totally by chance one day when I was bored at work (thanks Google) and I decided to just give it a go. I hopped on the Capitol floats website and *easily* reserved a room for a Thursday night. I've always loved being in water and I'm a connoisseur in the art of relaxation so trying this seemed like a no-brainer. As soon as I walked in to the building the air was warm and a little humid, like an indoor poor minus the classic chlorine smell. The staff smiled at me, graciously laughed at my dumb jokes and proceeded to give me a tour. It felt like a home away from home. The entire place was amazingly comfortable and clean, but not so clean that you're afraid to touch stuff.. you know what I mean? I was in room 3 and it came prepped with a robe I really wanted to take home, ear plugs, Vaseline to cover any scrapes or cuts (shoutout to my accident prone people!) and a few clean towels. I don't think there was anything that I wish that I had that wasn't provided. I hopped in the warm shower to do my pre-float rinse, stepped into the tub and it was like literally stepping into calm. I sat down and extended my legs in front of me and they rose effortlessly. I laid back a little and just felt the rest of my body slowly rising until I was resting perfectly balanced between the water and the air. If you think about it, you always have weight on your body.. you have weight on your back when you lay down, or on your tailbone when you sit or you're on your feet.. I was literally weightless and my body was grateful for it. Another thing that was weightless was my mind. I'm one of those people who thinks a mile a minute, especially at night (it's 12:57am right now.. *eyeroll*). I tend to go over my to-do lists or I think about random stuff I did 9 years ago. You know what I mean, I'm sure. As a result anything remotely close to meditating is usually out of the window for me, but as I lay in the tub all I could think about was how cool everything felt and how glad I was to be there. I absolutely adore to come and float here. There experience is so helpful for my chronic pain condition. I get a chance to feel close to normal with less pain after float. I first started with a couple floats. Soon I increased my membership. I even have more restful sleep at night after float. I definitely recommend to anyone and most especially for those with chronic pain condition. Staff is always friendly attentive and supportive. I love the after float relax room where I can sip some tea and read a bit before driving home, as I am always in need of coming back into reality! Great for meditation/relaxation efforts. The tanks are custom (roomy), the rooms are clean, and they have a great spot to chill and relax after you're done floating. Cleanest, most relaxing float spa I've been to. I've also been impressed with the availability here. Every time I try to book a float, I've been able to get in near the time I want. Some other float spas are so busy you have to book weeks in advance. Not the case here. Give it a day or two, and you're really likely to secure your ideal time. I love this place. Although I can't justify driving 90 min to float, only to turn around and make the return trip, I'm more than happy to stop by if I have other business in Sac. read more

I've gone here twice when I've had back problems and have found that it works amazingly for me. The first time, my massage therapist said I was so tight, there was little that could be done without me spending time in a hot tub. I don't really have access to a hot tub and remembered seeing this place. I'm really glad I tried it. The first time, I had a really amazing meditation experience as well. The second time, I had a lot on my mind and wasn't really able to focus as well. However, the physical rejuvenation was amazing. The location is very clean and modern. The staff are friendly and helpful. I was so relaxed the first time I actually walked out without paying. They called me to let me know. I was mortified but the staff member assured me it had happened before and was no big deal. He let me give my credit card by phone rather than having to come back in. read more

Amazing set up for rejuvenation! Floating is funny because the experience is so different every time, it really depends are your state of being and mind, but the CF facility is always great! The rooms are well thought out with private showers and all the supplies you need. I appreciate the after float room for integration, it's an important step in the process. First time doing a float. I was reading and it says the filtration is supposed to go for 15 min between sessions. When the guy at the front desk showed us to our rooms and left, he then came back to tell me he had to turn the filtration on in my tank real quick. He then ran it for like 1 minute and turned it off so I'm very iffy on if my water was even cleaned from the previous float. Upon entering I seen a lot of little black particles floating in the water which worried me as well. My boyfriend said he seen some in his tank too but we tried not to think about that. Also the guy told me that my tank was running extra hot for a reason they didn't know. He said I could prop my tank door open with a towel for air circulation. That was kind of annoying to have to do as well. Other than that I had a pretty good experience and the guy at who helped us was very helpful and friendly about it all. read more

They were kind enough to give me a tour of the space and explained every thing that may come up before, during and after a float. It is nice to have a whole float room to yourself. I left with a massive earache and probably 10 times more tense than when I went in. The staff was nice and helpful, the room was clean and the space was quiet. I just think floating isn't for me. I walked into a lukewarm blue tub of water with mellow music, ear plugs are provided but they didn't really help as the entire time I was floating I kept hearing water enter my ears. I tried floating, and it was truly not for me. I came in very excited. I felt like this would elevate my ability to get in the zone for meditation, I thought it would be super relaxing, and overall awesome and freeing. It was not. It was honestly mostly just annoying. I understand the caveat is FOR ME, but I would rather go for a walk, read, or just sit. I understand many people love it, but no thank you. Closed eye, just sitting meditation is free, dry, and in my opinion outrageously more fruitful. The place difficult to find. Allow for some extra time, I had to call the front desk and have the girl flag me down. The signage is not noticeable at night driving down Broadway, and navigation was not all that helpful either. The process is simple enough, you arrive, are are escorted to a small room for each individual, with a shower and tank. You rinse off, and put in earplugs before getting in the tank. My shower kind of grossed me out, there was hair on the wall. I have to rinse off before getting in your tank, but your staff did not even think to wipe down or rinse off the shower? This is not the locker room shower at 24, I should not feel like I have to wear flip flops and be afraid of making contact. Also with the price point, you would think they would throw in a glass of Kombucha in the debrief area, rather than having it there at a cost. Hot tea was available and complimentary. read more

This was my third time there, and they placed me in room 1. This is the worst room. It was hot, there was a giant stain on the floor, and the towels were not very clean (blacken towels were maybe used to wash someones car?). It was defiantly a disappointing experience than what I have dealt with in the past. The experience has traumatized my floating experience forever - cleanliness was a major concern as was a staph infection from their towels. I am very skeptical of coming back, My advice to management is to get new towels and do something about room 1. read more

I was incredibly disappointed with my visit to Capitol Floats. For the part of my float I was able to enjoy (details below), it did seem like a cool experience that I probably will repeat, just not here. I ended my session early by 15 minutes as a woman started screaming and this scared the sh!t out of me. I arrived 15 minutes early as requested. The staff seemed nonchalant on welcome, and had me complete their form. I was shown the restroom and break area before being escorted to my room. At the time, I did't notice where the other rooms were located, but I had room 3. The staff led me through some light instructions, which if you have questions-- definitely ask-- as I didn't think these were very thorough. I had mentioned this was my first time, but still received little input as to how this process should work. My appointment was at 4, but my time started at 3:56-- which I didn't think mattered too much expect I was still showering and trying to mentally prepare before getting in, and it felt rushed. I thought the pod room was large and I didn't feel claustrophobic--sometimes I would in an MRI machine. It's size, meh not so much. I'm 5'10" and had trouble "spacing" out as I was almost too tall/too wide arm span. This I guess did help keep me somewhat oriented but I did ping pong around. It was fine, just got used to being in one position. I'm also not sure about the salt concentration -- I was expecting effortlessly floating (?), but my feet often kept coming into contact with the floor whenever I would fully relax. Yes, I do know how to float. It just kept happening when I wasn't holding which to me suggests that the ratios for buoyancy were off. Otherwise they do provide you with a neck/head floatation device which was useful to help with any neck soreness. I was relaxing with the exception of having my feet on the bottom, thus not fully sensory deprived. At one time I did hear a large bang which sounded like someone had come into my room. They didn't as I opened the door saw no one. It still sucked to have that dramatic see-saw of being completely relaxed, albeit naked in salt water, then have a loud noise seem like someone is just outside the door. So-- it was unfortunate but this happened about 20 minutes into my float, and I was able to settle back into it and relax. A while later, a woman started screaming. At first I thought I was imagining it, but then someone was screaming out of control and crying "Help me!, let me out!" it sounded. I really can't put into words what this felt like, naked, pitch black, not having sensory input for about 20 minutes then have someone scream in utter fear about the same experience you're having. No only that, but no one seemed to be helping her? I sat for awhile (there's no clock for me to know how long this went on)-- it wasn't too long, but definitely long enough where I was shocked, frightened myself as to what was going on, and then flooded with a ton of sensory input. Everything went from being mainly shut off, void of stimulus processing, to completely processing fear stimuli at 200%. I was upset that no one was helping her and immediately got out, took out my ear plugs-- I decided the float was over at 4:46. I was quickly showering when I heard someone get to her, but I don't even technically know if she was in her own float or what. I went out to the front, it was 4:50 and told the employee that there was a woman who was screaming who may need help. She said she had "got her" and that it was fine. And offered no other explanation as to what the hell just happened. I was clearly visibly upset by just hearing this, and she commented that I had what, 5 minutes left? I was annoyed because this seemed to be completely ignorant of the entire science behind this process and failing to understand how in a sensory deprived state-- extreme,sudden sensory input, especially fear, can send shockwaves through the brain. Any type of "relaxation" I was able to get a hold of was wiped away. The post-relaxation state was also removed as I didn't want to be there anymore. It seems really silly to "get upset" by this, but this practice of sensory deprivation is actually legit, imo, and gaining scientific evidence for its benefits. However, if you're going to deprive sensory input, then have a decent facility (e.g., sound proof your rooms/space them apart), have staff who are aware of the science of the process, not the trends, engage first timers to ensure they are comfortable with the process, have staff be cognizant of the responsibilities they are taking on. The staff did little to acknowledge that this experience could have an adverse effect, and lightheartedly laughed it off as "people typically don't scream during your floats." Insensitive. She gave me a comped future session, rather than a refund. I was really looking forward to trying out a new method of relaxation. Instead I left feeling anything but that. read more

I have been floating at Capital Floats since they first opened in 2016. I was unsure about floating when I first began, but the staff have always made me feel so comfortable and have helped me progress with my practice through their instruction and welcoming environment. I love the openness of the tanks as it feels as if it is its own room in and of itself. Capital Floats is always very clean and I can see they take pride in their facility. My most recent float was a reminder of how much I love it there and cannot say enough good things. read more

I won a 60 minute float in a raffle so tried it for the first time about a month ago. I added the 30 min sauna before the float, felt so good to sit at a nice constant heat, listening to music in a very private setting. Then I moved on to the float room in the robe/flip flops/bag provided by Capitol Floats...I was given the perfect instructions on how to enjoy my float by a knowledgeable and extremely personable staff member. It was AMAZING...I'm claustrophobic and still loved it. So much so, I went back 2 weeks later for a Somadome session and 60 minute float. I have had a terrible January with a flood in my home, all floors are torn up and walls cut out, horrible experience with mitigation, etc.. But my two visits to Capitol Floats during the experience was EXACTLY what was needed to let go of the tension. The guided meditation in the Somadome was amazing, the relaxing chair and private setting for this was perfect as well. When you finish your experience, move to the post float room for quiet time to read, draw, create, etc. Enjoy their classic choices of hot tea, or delicious real Kombucha and just enjoy the entire experience. The staff is amazing, the facility is perfect. Memberships are affordable and explained simply. They don't pressure you to purchase memberships, which is nice. I'm definitely making all Capitol Floats has to offer a more consistent way of unwinding and recharging. If you have tried it yet, you must! I had my third float experience today and my favorite place by far is Capitol Floats! Loved the spacious float "rooms" as opposed to the pods at other locations. The entrance is a but hidden. I almost missed it. I loved this aspect because it made it seem more special. The interior is clean where the immersion tubs are and the transition area is open and cozy. I am coming back and signing up for a membership next month.
