As a first timer for the business, I have been in float spas before just not here. I really enjoy a good float spa, one of the best ways for me to relax. This place is interesting, and looks nice and relaxing, but it just too many issues for me to return, I always like to try new places, experience the atmosphere, and hope for just a well relaxing time. I wish i got a Picture of the outside wall, art work, its actually pretty cool and vibrant. OH kay, lol... this were it starts to snow ball and go down hill , gaining mass and speed.. first off the staff were super friendly but we waited about 10 mins at the front counter before someone came to the front. We waited for our spas, enjoyed some def caf tea, as we sat in the waiting area / lounge. Across from us was a small Sauna, I am guessing 2 people could fit in ther would be very close to the other person I would think, so you better be friendly with them ;-) ;-) Needless to say, did not go in there. lol The Lounge area was somewhat split up, with some couches in the main area, which a couple was over there just laying spread out, so did not want to sit to close to someone else and ruin there experience. Ok, so finally get in to the spa room, its kinda cool , the shower is at the entrance of the spa, there is a bench to sit and take shoes off or what not. Basically you strip down, (Yehaa). Dont get any ideas here, this is a solo spa, not sure if they have couple's or not.. but this was a Solo experience. Take a shower, open the door, and carefuly get into the spa. I found the floor to be super slippery. And someone like me, i have poor balancing due to a brain surgery years ago... But ya, the floor was super slick, no grip on the ground, just tile like. There was a mat, but it was a joke, really thin, and did not grip let alone didnt help. so lets get into the spa, aaawww! Well thats what i was hoping for, my ass hit the bottom of the spa, Now Ive been to 3 different spas, and all of them were deeper then this one. That and there is soooo much salt in there you'll float. Salt was there but stuck to the bottom , with my bottom... lol.. It ruined the experience for us, I wasnt the only one complaining about this. But needless to say our experience wasn't that relaxing, and fear for my life walking around on the slik was a thing... :-( read more

Came here for the first time using a Groupon. Very relaxing and unique experience floating leading to ultimate relaxation if you're able adjust your mind . If you have sensitive or cracked skin you might want to reconsider, although they do provide Vaseline to cover up those areas it can still irritate the skin more. Definitely an experience everyone should try once. If you haven't already done so. Service was friendly , and welcoming. Facility was getting a room added and some of the light colors in my pod didn't work. But over all worth a try. read more

I had a wonderful experience at Capitol Floats. For a first timer, I really liked how they had everything I needed including a towel, robe, ear plugs, and water to spritz on your face if the salt gets in your eyes or mouth. I listened to calming music and had a blue light on, but ended up turning them off for the sensory deprivation experience. I would highly recommend that and will do that for longer next time. It was a state of calm away from the more restless world and complete relaxation. I thought I would want to leave the door open but ended up closing it. Relaxation room was great to enjoy after the float. If a contact wearer, I recommend bringing glasses or having contact solution available. My eyes aren't super sensitive so I just blinked the salt away when a bit got it but others might feel differently. read more

Ultimate relaxation! As a first time floater, I didn't really know what to expect, but they made me feel very comfortable. You will have a private room to shower and change, before entering your private tiled room (not a tiny pod like other facilities have that might induce claustrophobia!) The water is warm and has heavy salt content (hence the float!) You directly control the light and sound levels, and can even try deprivation (no sound or light). The sessions are 1 hour, which was a bit longer than I needed. But I really enjoyed the session overall, and was shocked at how relaxed my body and mind were for hours after my float. As a Christmas present last year, my dad purchased a float and a sauna experience for both my husband and I. It took us almost a year to get around to actually booking it and using it but once we did, we were kicking ourselves for waiting so long. As part of our celebratory anniversary weekend, my husband and I came on a Sunday afternoon to enjoy our infrared sauna and float experience. We were able to enjoy the sauna together, as it can fit two people. We started with the sauna, and then made our way over to our individual float tanks. I thoroughly enjoyed how the staff explained the entire process and how clean and modern the facility was. The float experience was definitely something else, but I absolutely loved it. 60 minutes of complete silence to meditate was intense, but definitely something I would do again. They give you the option to listen to a soundtrack as well as choosing a colored light. I actually ended up turning off my light and my music because I wanted total deprivation. It is a bit pricey, but they do offer packages and other incentives. I will definitely be back to give this a try again as I slept phenomenal and felt completely relaxed after the experience. read more

I've had the opportunity to float at several different float spas and have made Capitol Floats my primary floating location for the last few years. The location is in a pretty vibrant area of Sacramento with a bunch of restaurants and a farmers market on certain Friday nights which can make it a bit tough to find parking sometimes, but it's usually not a big problem. The spa itself is clean and inviting when you walk in and has several nice touches. The bathroom has some incense burning and kind of creates a nice calming mood. When you check in for a float, the receptionist asks for any light and music preferences, and they have a lot of different options. They've recently added a tablet that allows you to preview the music options. The float tank itself is a big room instead of the float pods that you see at a lot of other places. I actually like both setups, although the room at Capitol Floats gives you a bit more space, which is great. There's everything in the room that you need to have a successful float, including ear plugs, vaseline, and a large shower with soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Once you're done with your float, they've got some shea butter and q tips in the room to help re-moisturize your skin. There's a bunch of different types of tea and water available after your float, and a nice area to sit down and relax. There is a kombucha machine also. Besides floating, there's the somadome which I haven't used and an infared sauna that I've used quite a bit before floating. Overall, it is a very nice place to relax, and I'd definitely recommend trying out Capitol Floats. read more

I want to write this review from the perspective of a person with a "larger" body and hopefully answer some questions people may have and be shy to ask. I have floated in two types of tanks, "pod" and "step in the door" Capitol Floats is a "step in the door". This is everything the "pod" wasn't and in a good way. There is tons of space, TONS. Bigger bodies fit no problem. I was able to float on my back, completely starfished and nothing touched. Below are a few questions you might have. * Will I fit? Yes! There is lots of room to completely spread out and not be confined. * What do I wear? Nothing! You're in a private room and you step right into the tank from there. Be free in your nakedness! * Is it slippery/dangerous? There are grab bars everywhere, the salt water is slippery, but there's lots of things to hold while getting in and out. A few tips: * Those with longer hair, bring your own towel to wrap your hair so you don't drip on the way out. I have a microfiber twisty thing, TJ Maxx $7. * I wore a free-flowing gown when I left so I could be comfy afterwards, threw my bra in my bag. * Don't be scared or nervous, this is super cool, I promise! I was curious about floating and was able to get a same day appointment. The facility was clean, the staff was nice, and gave a full tour without being pushy about adding extra services. I have to say the experience was quite disappointing. A woman attendant was not very communicative. She didn't mention you have to keep that salt out of your eyes or it burns. So I had to slip and slide out of there and take a shower in the middle. I said I wanted to do the infrared sauna, and she didn't bother to tell me there wasn't an appointment. Likewise, with the soma dome. When I get in she said you push the button for the music and I said does it give you the choice of music? She said you push it three times for volume. And I was just confused, and a little weak minded, because I'm on a water fast so I didn't ask how we choose the freaking music. So I get this awful moaning new age thing and I can't get any volume out of it. I wanted the classical piano. I spent the whole time poking the damn thing, trying to get volume out of it. I tried just doing no sound in dark for a while but I did nothing for me. Supposedly it is but not me. Then, after an hour,my skin kind of burns from the salt, but you get it under the shower and it's a feeble low flow head in there, totally inappropriate for rinsing off concentrated Epsom salt. So it takes forever to rinse it all off and you don't even get it all off. The tank is very awkward to get in and out of. Instead of having two vertical grab bars, like other tanks, there a horizontal one on the bottom of the door, door at knee height, and a horizontal one on the wall to the right. Although I am older, I am strong and in great shape, but it's darn tough to lower yourself down just holding the one on the right, because the bottom of the tank is slick as snot. I just ended up flopping onto my back. My wife with her knee and arm problem couldn't possibly get in and out of there. You can't sit on the side and swing over. read more

I highly recommend capitol floats. My husband and I did the infared sauna first. You are able to control the temperature. I was surprised I was able to sit in for the entire 30 minutes. There is an aux cord so you have the ability to play your own music during your time in the sauna. There are curtains for extra privacy. Towels and robes are provided as well. We then both did an hour long float . I was a bit nervous that I would be claustrophobic however because it is a tank room rather than a pod, there is a descent amount of space. I felt comfortable closing the door for the entire session. It is hard to describe the peace you get when floating. When the world feels heavy, it's nice to float and feel as if you are light as a feather. I chose the meditation music and blue for my tank room. I experimented and turned the lights completely off for a few minutes. I enjoyed focusing on my breathing. At the end of the float, you shower and feel relaxed. I slept really good that night. The post float room had tea, water, and coloring. I was sad that the kombucha tap wasn't working because kombucha would have been refreshing after both floating and using the sauna. This was my very first float, I wasn't sure what to expect going in and it was definitely an experience. I don't meditate so I had a lot of strange things while in the tank. If I go back it'll be after I practice some meditation so I can have a different experience. This place is set up really neat. The staff are really friendly and the room you go into after is really cozy. The room I went into was pretty big, and the shower leads right into the the tank. You rinse off before going in then when you go in you have the option to keep the blue light on inside the tank or turn it off. There's ambient music playing and there isn't any smells or anything. Once you're done you step out and shower, then you head into the decompression room. There's decaf tea and water, there's journals where you can write about your experience, there's books to read and coloring you can do or water color. Since you are in a sensory deprivation tank it can be overwhelming once you come out, but there's a very serene feeling about the whole place, so over stimulation after isn't an issue at all. read more

I love coming here. I am very relaxed every time post float, and I mean even after I get home. I was here this week. I dedicate 25 minutes for floating, then the rest of my time pampering such as salt scrubbing in the shower area, then applying my favorite eucalyptus and spearmint body oil, taking care of my facial needs etc. After I'm done, I put on the robe and go to the post float area. First I dried my hair at the vanity area, then I made some tea, headed towards the couch and put my feet up since no one was around. I put away my phone for good measure and stared into space, and I felt lightweight. Once I got home, I slept all day, woke up a bit and slept through the night. It actually happens every time I float, afterwards. I am AMAZED! I'd probably buy a membership so I can do this twice a month or more. Sleeping like a bebe is great! read more

My first float... I will definitely be back again! It was different from what I expected... But you should go in free of expectations! It is a very relaxing atmosphere. I was greeted by Isaac who showed me the ropes. He showed me the communal room and my float room. The float "tank" is actually a room... Probably 8 by 8. I would recommend to take off your contacts if you are a contact wearer - Because I got water in my eyes a few times. I think most people will not have as much of an issue, but I have very shallow eyes. Don't forget to bring the bottle of water and a face towel in with you to the room so that you have them handy to wipe and to flush your eyes. I feel like it took me a while to get into total relaxation "mode." I hope that is just because I'm a noob at it. Next time, I will remember to shut the lights off in the shower room before getting into the tank - The lights from the room were shining into the tank. The lights eventually shut off by itself because it's on a timer, but it would be nice to have them off at the beginning to achieve maximum relaxation. There is also a soft blue light in the tank where you can choose to have them on or turn them off (there's a button you can push). I chose to turn them off because it really took away the senses and it really felt like you were in nothingness. You have 10 minutes to shower once you are out of the tank and get dressed. I took a little longer and didn't feel rushed at all, but I tried to be mindful of the time in case someone was waiting for the room. For those of you with sensitive skin, might be a good idea to go home and take a second shower to get all the salt off when you get home. I did that and I think that helped greatly. I also felt like I went through a detoxification because when you're in the tank you sweat a bit and I felt like I was getting the icky stuff out of my pores. My skin actually looked nicer the next day too. They have a really nice communal area to "unwind." Lots of activities and creative things that you can do it get the mind going. I stayed probably for the better part of an hour... I didn't think I would stay that long but I felt so relaxed I didn't want to go outside into the harsh world! I am glad to say the effects of the tank do stay with you... I am a few days out and I'm still feeling pretty calm and relaxed. read more

I have been wanting to try floating for awhile. I had heard about the benefits such as speeding muscle recovery and relaxation. I decided to go right before my Spartan race. Typically I do a yoga class before a race, but I decided to try something different. When I looked on their website, the cost is $65 for a 60 minute float. However, I found a Groupon that knocked that price down to $45. The entire experience was wonderful! The staff was super nice and answered all my questions. After you finish filling out the questionnaire, you are escorted to a private bath. Inside you will take off all your clothes and take a quick shower. Inside the shower is a door that leads to the float tank. I highly recommend bringing the provided washcloth with you to hang on the inside of the door in case you get salt in your eyes. It took me awhile to turn my brain off, but once I did I was able to relax. I even fell asleep. Once the 60 minutes are up the tank changes music to let you know it is time to leave. After you exit the tank, you take another quick shower to wash off all of the salt, and put your clothes back on. There is a lounge area to hang out after the float. I had some water and just gazed at the world outside while I adjusted back. My brain felt really fuzzy after the float, and I needed a few minutes in the lounge before I left. Once I left, I definitely felt like my muscles were more relaxed. This was a great experience and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to relieve muscle soreness or just wanting a place to relax. read more

I tried out floating for the first time today! I was nervous but there was no need for that! What a blissful experience. The man at the front desk was friendly but not super helpful and I felt a little rushed with the instructions he gave me. He didn't give me the option to change my music or light color but I knew that was a possibility since I read the other reviews. They have a sheet hanging up on the wall in the room with a few more tips so that was helpful. They advise showing up 15 minutes early but I would recommend 20 minutes so you don't feel rushed. Your float time starts right at your scheduled time so you have to shower and get ready before that. They offer free Classy Hippie Tea before and after your float which is so yummy and another reason to arrive a little earlier. Each room has a private shower and changing area next to the float tank. I was in room number 4 at the end of the hallway. You put your earplugs in (two different kinds to choose from) and then do a quick rinse and then hop in the tank (no swimsuit needed). I used the Cosmic Om music (soft background music with bells and the om sounds) which was really nice and relaxing and the red-colored light. You can pick out your options at the front desk before your float. I didn't have time to listen to all the options. I wish they had them on their website so you could pick it ahead. After about 5 minutes I turned off the light and halfway through I turned off the music. There are large buttons on the side of the tub to turn them on and off. With the music off I was able to hear my breath and relax my thoughts. With the lights off I felt like I was floating in space. I also picked an intention before I floated which was nice. I tried a few different positions with my arms such as at my sides, resting on my body or bent above my head. I found that I liked them above my head the most. They also have a small ring you can rest your head inside if you want. I felt completely relaxed afterward. It is an indescribable experience and I highly recommend you experience it yourself to see what it is like. I am looking forward to my next float!! Next time I want to try the infrared sauna or the Somadome (meditation pod) before my float. Then you shower off all the salt. They provide shampoo and body wash and a washcloth. It is not organic though so bring your own if you want that. Afterward, make sure you allow yourself plenty of time in the post-float area to paint or draw, journal, read, drink tea, water or kombucha, stretch, or just relax. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They also have some CBD products and shirts/tanks to shop from. The only problem I had was that I forgot to not shave my armpits so there was some burning. I put some Vaseline on which helped. Make sure not to shave any body parts before your float! Also, they say you don't need to bring anything but if you are going out for a meal afterward I would suggest bringing a comb or brush, deodorant, etc. so you can get ready after your float. They have a small vanity area in the post-float area if you need a space to get ready. They provide everything else such as a towel and flip flops. Afterward, if you want a healthy meal I suggest Vibe Health Bar (just next door) or Sun and Soil which is just about a 5-minute drive away. Both have organic and vegan cold-pressed juices and meals. Or the Strapping Store is just a couple of minutes' walk with really fun and unique gifts. read more

If it's your first time try to arrive 15 minutes early to fill out their release form but also to give you a few minutes if you want to rinse off in the shower before you go in the tank. I don't even know where to start with this review but I started with google, this idea had come to mind after an exhausting long stressful week, and it felt like it wouldn't end until I had some type of relaxation remedy take place .. I literally needed something to relax the body mind soul and take all negativity, clear my head and just rejuvenate me to the fullest. Let's start this experience with Anthony, being a first timer to this place, he had put my mind to ease that this was my best bet for what I was looking for, over the phone! He's amazing, he's honest, and pure and even gave me a little insight as to what made him take on this place! Relatable I must say, right off the bat to my life! He explained the process of floating from start to finish and he said "when you get done, you'll feel like a new person!" HE WASN'T KIDDING! This place is absolutely adorable I must add, which I'll share photos as I just fell in love, it was so cozy and homely, you're also offered tea, kombucha, or water before you float. I go shower, place the ear plugs in and off to paradise I went... I was doubting being able to float haha he assured me that wouldn't be a problem lol .. I get in the tub and that's where the most amazing experience really began. The music starts to let you know that your now starting your float. You have options inside the tub to stop the music or turn the lights off as well. I laid there and I'm pretty sure at one point I blacked out, in a good way of course. My body was so tense and tight, my head was full of stress and my anxiety was sky rocketing, about 20 mins in I couldn't feel anything or think of anything it was purely relaxation and I almost forgot I was in the tub it felt like I was just laying there under a warm blanket. The water was warm and I napped half awake/ half asleep (mainly asleep) for the rest of the time. When the flat was over, the music changes to let you know times up. Once my time was up I sat up for a few mins, got up, showered again and went and sat in the little relaxation/ unwind room in a robe, (as Anthony would say) " Before going back into the world and back to reality". The vibe was just unbelievable, totally in my Zen. This place sold me on a membership! Hands down best experience for relaxation, better than a massage! I've floated a few times now at various places. This was my best float experience yet!! It's an experience from the minute you walk into the business. The people that work there are friendly, helpful, and informative. It's a really clean place and very comfortable. Even though we were experienced floaters we had never been to this particular place. The rep gave us a tour, told us all the in's and outs of the rooms and float tanks. The rooms themselves are really nice and good sized. I loved that they provide plush bathrobes along with towels and washcloths!! I was so happy to see a place to actually hang your clothes up on real hangers!! The only issue was it took a bit to get the shower to warm up, but that's a small complaint... (I was concerned about wasting water while waiting for it to heat up) but I'm sure it really didn't take that long. After the float the water seemed to be warm right away, so maybe that room hadn't been used that day?? Who knows. The actual float tank is incredible!! I love that it's not a pod!! You open a door and step into a private float room!! The ceiling is high so you won't feel claustrophobic at all. I have severe claustrophobia from being locked in a freezer as a child. not When I float in a pod I leave it open. Here I could shit the door with no problem. The float room is good sized. I did not hit the walls at all while I was floating like I have when I've floated in pods. While I love to float this was the first time I have TRULY felt like I was 100% weightless floating in space!!! Incredible!! I wish everyone could feel what that is like!! The water temperature was perfect. The air temperature was a bit on the warm side so I opened the closet door a crack. Great thing is the room automatically goes dark when there is no movement so I still had total darkness!! They do have music playing, I believe you can turn it off, but I didn't. I actually didn't really notice it playing I was so zenned out!! The nice thing is the music noticably changes when your float is up. This was an issue at another place I had floated. The music seemed like it was always changing and I kept wondering, is it over?? So I really appreciated knowing that sadly, my float was over. I've got a very active mind, probably like most people. Fortunately, if you turn out the lights it's pitch dark. I'm not a fan of total darkness except when I float. It really helps to concentrate on your breathing. I spent some time in prayer... But really I just tried to relax and breathe...and I believe I even fell asleep for a bit. Some may see things, or have some minor hallucinations. My daughter who also floated that day did; nothing crazy. I experienced interesting sensations... That's the only way I can describe it. I was able to get into an altered state which was really amazing. I can't say enough about this particular float!!! After our float we met up in the Relaxation room. It's very relaxing. They offer beverages- water and tea, journals and art supplies if you desire to use them. We sat for awhile gathering our thoughts and we each shared our individual float experiences. I was truly hoping this would become a regular place for me to come and unwind but unfortunately I doubt I will be back anytime soon. First the good, the younger gentleman working at the front desk was outstanding, very professional and polite. I got the package for the 30 minute sauna, then 60 minute float followed by the somadome. The Sauna felt amazing and the area even though out in the open provided good privacy with the curtain. Well stocked with towels and robes. After the room I was going into for my float was not ready so relaxed for a few minutes in their post-float area which was nice. Then came the float. Now this is about my third or fourth float, but my first time at this location with these kinds of tanks. I was shown the room then left to it. Took a quick shower then opened the door to the tank only to be greeted by hairs floating in the tank from the previous person in there. This was a bit disturbing as it shows they do not filter or clean the tank at all in-between uses. I spent the next few minutes cleaning the hairs out and tried my best to not that let mess with my head too much. Got into the tank and immediately noticed it was colder than any float tank I have ever been in plus it leaked quite a bit of light into the tank from the outside which really between the initial hairs, the chill and the light leaking in made it impossible for me to zone out like I have in previous floats. I attempted to let my mind wander for about 20 minutes before I finally gave up and got out. I brought up these issues to the gentleman at the front desk and he apologized for the hair and informed me he had forgot to mention that I should turn off the lights in the room before entering the tank. While this would have helped with the light issue, it would have presented a pretty large safety issue as you have to walk though the wet shower area to step over a ledge into the tank and doing this with the light on was slippery, so to do it in the dark would just be asking for trouble. I then did the somadome session which was fine, but I was already thrown off due to the lackluster floating experience so it really did not do much for me. While I really do like the fact they have the sauna, that will not be enough for me to return. These older and ill-preforming float tanks just don't provide the experience I am used to. I would highly recommend the company takes more time in-between floats to clean the tanks so no one else has to be greeted by floating hairs... read more

So relaxing! I had never been to float tank before and the staff was super helpful and explained how everything worked. It took me a minute to get settled in but after a while I was able to totally relax and tune out. It helped my back pain too. I also really liked the decompression area for after the float. They have coloring books, sketchpads, a piano, and an area for stretching/yoga. Such a lovely holistic experience read more

The floating experience and staff attentiveness is graciously relaxing. I would recommend this spot for anyone new to the floating and meditation experience. The staff were able to guide me thoroughly through the experience and what to expect. They made sure I knew where everything was, what they offered, and how to keep the salt out of my eyes, ears, and any small cuts I may had. They provide you with just about everything you need. I would recommend anyone to ensure hydration before and after. That was an experience for me within the first float I felt I could have better prepared on. After your float they have a relaxing area you can rest and think. They offer different art supplies as well to enjoy as you process the meditation of your float. Coming up on my third year of being a loyal patron of Capitol Floats, and it's time for an update! The time spent there has evolved so much since my visit. With the addition of the wonderful infrared sauna, the treat we give our body with a visit only deepened. If you're not a fan of a traditional sauna, you might like the infrared a bit better - it is the same dry intense heat, but it doesn't suck the life out of you. No water or stones are involved, it's definitely a modern improvement on an old idea. Bring along the light remote to find a color that matches your state of mind (I use red when I want to feel like I'm slow roasting, blue when I want to relax, and green when I'm feeling invigorated), and you're also encouraged to bring along your phone - it can be nice to find a soothing Spotify channel to help continue your escape. I'm a huge fan of that intense sweat! Once due to a scheduling error on my part I was permitted to do 3 sessions back to back - I could only handle 78 minutes, but it was incredible! It's a great stop before you check into your float tank. And now with the addition of the somadome, it becomes a 3 part experience - 3 different stations of zen, each part of a larger experience! Though the dome is my least favorite of the 3, it's still a beautiful way to disconnect from the outside world and bring your energy down. I've tried 4 of the themed sessions now, Bliss has definitely been my favorite. And finally the float! In 3 years I've tried all 4 float rooms - for a while I was incredibly loyal to Room 2, but it's good to mix things up! It's funny how each room does have its own personality and quirks. Personally I love the layout of Room 1 best, but like the seclusion of Room 4 when the mood hits me. It's also very cool that they offer a few fun products - I've purchased samples of their mood supplements and cannabinoid chocolates, and both were very effective. Great ways to take that float zen with you back into the crazy world! Last but not least, the employees are wonderful, especially Jodi and Hailey - they have such perfect kind energies, and you feel like their instant friend. When I walk in and see them behind the desk, I'm immediately happy! Capitol Floats has been one of the greatest discoveries of my life, and they will have me as a loyal patron as long as their door remains open! read more

First timer, but definitely will be back. Only problem was the tank not being completely dark. The room light was peaking through the door, but after I turned the room lights off the tank was perfect. The tea and relaxation room was the perfect touch. read more

I've been there a number of times to float. I've also used the infrared sauna and received massages. Quality of the massage has always depends on the therapist available. Facility is clean and well kept and the staff is universally friendly and knowledgeable. I joined as a member. read more
