I thought this place was outstanding ... then I noticed a rip in my suit pants. Thought it was my fault, then I had a second pair of pants rip exactly the same way. Left back buttock pocket torn. I explained to the owner these were not torn when I brought the pants in. He knew exactly what say. He miraculously remembered I had brought pants in before. I can't give a fair review of this place really. I can here Thursday to get a dress altered. The seamstress wasn't in. Even though I called Wednesday to make sure and was told she would absolutely be in. I get there and the woman at the front says that it's the seamstress's day off and to come back tomorrow. I asked how late she would be there and was told she'd be in until 7. I come back at 6pm and I'm told she left at 5, but she'll be in 8-5 tomorrow. This place isn't super close to my house and there is a dry cleaner in my office, but it's worth it for the value. They won't try to sell you something you don't need, will give you options on how best to take care of your clothes, and they do a good job with a simple dry clean. read more

I've hemmed jeans, tailored a suit (jacket sleeves shortened and pants hemmed), and gotten my suit cleaned, and all have been very well done! The prices are "DC reasonable" - cleaning a suit was about $12, hemming pants was ~$15 - but I feel confident that things will come back right. read more

Even though I live 2 blocks away from a fairly decent cleaners, I'm now happily driving 10 minutes from my home to take my clothes to Georgetown Valet. They are a little bit more expensive than other cleaners but I'm so impressed with the quality of work that they do, and everybody working there is as nice as can be. They even got a pesky stain out of a white shirt that my old cleaners told me would never come out, and they actually QC their work to make sure that everything is just right. I'm a fan! read more

My washer broke as I was getting ready for a trip - convenient. I needed a few things washed so I called Georgetown Valet in a panic. They told me it'd be no problem and that they understood my urgency - so I dropped off my clothes at 9 am Wednesday morning and picked them up Wednesday evening around 6. Whoever was working was so kind, so friendly, and very calming as I was frustrated at my situation. A little over 10 pounds of laundry and $20 bucks later, I'm one happy camper! read more

Very friendly service. These guys really pay attention to detail. They noticed when a shirt had real mother of pearl buttons and wrapped them so that would not crack. I forgot a pair of collar stays in a shirt and they made sure that they were returned. They are also very flexible if you need things last minute. I haven't asked them for same day service, but I wouldn't be surprised if they provided it upon request. I also love that in addition to my shirts (including french cuffs) being well pressed I never notice any dry cleaning solution smell. They say that they use an 'organic' process of some kind; all I know is that my shirts, suits and sweaters are always well cleaned, well pressed, and never smell. I have never had anything altered, but that part of the business always seems to be busy so I assume people come back for it. I have tried a few other cleaners in D.C. and around the hill. I have had 2 bad experiences with Georgetown Valet and will not be going back. I took a coat here, after reading reviews, and paid $30 to have it returned to me in the same condition as when I brought it there. More egregiously, I took a suede bag to be dry cleaned. It came back the first time DIRTIER than when I sent it in. The owner then argued with me when I took it back to be re-cleaned, but eventually agreed to send it back. It came back with MORE PERMANENT damage. Whomever cleaned my bag was not a professional--they put cleaner over 2 different colored parts of the bag, making the colors run and bleed into the rest of the bag. Even I, who have never cleaned suede before, could have anticipated this happening. The worst is that I've paid $55 for them to ruin my bag. The owner offered to send my bag back a 3rd time, but I feared it would come back even more damaged after my first two experiences. I would not recommend Georgetown Valet. read more

These cleaners have never let me down. When I first moved here, I took advantage of their 20% off deal to dry clean the majority of my work suits and other clothes I had carted across country. The total was extremely reasonable and the quality was high. I've taken all of my dry cleaning and alterations work here ever since and have never been dissapointed. One day I took a dress and a pair of jeans that I needed altered in at 8am and requested it back that day and they were done by 5pm, and done inexpensively at that. They are always super pleasant. In fact, even though they are frequently busy and I have to wait a couple of minutes before they can help me, I really don't mind because they are just so damn nice. read more

Georgetown Valet has impressed me again. I needed some patches put on and some slacks hemmed. The patches look great, the slacks look great, and the service as always was great! Quick and easy! They do a great job, I have not had anything that I have been disappointed with. On the same visit I took a shirt in that I have had for about 3 years, two years ago I got white shoe polish on the sleeve, I could not get it out and I took it in after the stain has been in there for two years now and they took care of it. Today, I had one of my worst experiences at a drycleaners at Georgetown Valet. I brought them a suit last week to press. When I received it back, there was a line of obviously and weirdly wrinkled fabric (for lack of a better description) on the shoulder. In addition, the collar was poorly pressed, so that when I wore it with the jacket buttoned, there were (2) places where the collar line clearly wasn't straight, as collars are meant to be. When I brought these problems to the attention of the woman managing the shop, she did everything she could to get me back out the door without seriously trying to fix the issues. Upon looking at the shoulder, the woman at the register said, "Oh, we can fix this!" But then when she brought it back after an attempt, it wasn't any better. At that point, she told me that they "press suits all the time and this never happens." But that was clearly untrue as her initial impression upon seeing it had been that "this would be easy to fix" -- meaning this does happen occasionally. She then said that it was clearly a "problem with the fabric" or "the tailor had made a mistake," and I needed to bring it back to them. But I insisted that that made no sense given that it wasn't there when I brought the jacket in, and that they give it a new try. They were able to remove most, though not all, of the weird wrinkles. Then, when I raised the collar issues, she said she would try to fix it "just once" -- as though I was imposing on her to fix the problem that the establishment created with my suit. When she brought it back, the original (2) "bumps" were gone -- but there was a new one! I've never had this issue with drycleaners before! When I told her what had happened, she deflected. She told me that "I am sorry we are not perfect" (missing the point that perfection is not the goal -- a pressed suit without any new wrinkles or creases is). My experience today was that Georgetown Valet's first response to having made mistakes on someone else's clothes is not to try to seriously fix the mistakes first -- it's to unapologetically try to deflect blame and get the person with legitimate complaints out the door ASAP. Barring a real apology and meaningful offer to make this right -- and follow through -- I will not be going back to this establishment. UPDATE: Upon hearing about my experience, Mr. Chang went far out of his way to get in touch with me and apologize and offer to make things right. I really appreciated his efforts in this respect, and I trust him when he says that it is his goal to ensure that all of his customers--and their clothes--are treated with the care and respect they deserve. He has also made a serious effort to make things right by me, including by offering to fix the poor pressing free of charge. Again, his efforts speak volumes to me, and I will plan to return to Georgetown Valet for future drycleaning needs. read more

I drove out of my way to bring my dry cleaning to this place because of the great reviews. I arrive at 6:45 on a Tuesday night to find the door locked and not a soul in sight. It makes it a bit difficult to rate the quality of work and customer service when they aren't open during their posted hours to drop off/pick up your clothing. read more

They were very friendly, so I will give them my dry cleaning business. I brought a patch to be sewn on a jacket and they missed a stitch so it only lasted a day. A friend ended up repairing it by hand for me and its held up. I am short so I often get pants hemmed but I don't know that I trust their sewing. read more

My husband and I have been using Georgetown Valet's dry cleaning services for years and they have always been consistently reliable, professional, and fairly priced-- especially considering they use eco-friendly chemicals. However, I am writing this review to note how wonderful their wedding dress alteration services were. They were able to shrink the size of my dress--which had a very intricate fabric. I really appreciated how they were honest about not wanting to hem the dress, advising me that it would compromise the integrity of the delicate lace. They were also very understanding of my quick time frame since i needed it done in three weeks. The pricing was more than fair, given the complicated and detailed layers of fabric they had to work with-- most reputable DC tailors began their quotes at $500 and GV charged me about $300.
