I read the reviews and my mom and dad brag about this place a lot so I was excited and had high hopes... I got the cheesy burger and I guess I just should have ordered a bigger one because it didn't fill me up (I'm a small girl who usually can't finish her plate) I left wanting to go out somewhere else. Never a good sign. But it was good, and I would go back and give a few more menu items a try. I guess it could have been my mistake to sit by the pinball machine, but I tried to place myself away from everyone else in case my daughter woke up in her carseat and someone came over and played the game right by her head. Our go to spot for a casual dinner. Great sandwiches and pizzas, super friendly servers and great service. Don't know how Capone's CDA does it but while other restaurants are struggling to hire and keep any servers, they are on point here. I eat here every chance I get! The food is delicious. I've taken all my friends here, and no one has ever come away disappointed. The only complaint anyone has ever had is that it sometimes takes awhile for the food to arrive after ordering. Over the past year or so they have had some difficulty with staffing due to Brandon, and that has affected both service time and hours. When we were ready to pay we had to flag down another server who let us know in no uncertain terms that she was NOT our waiter. We've been here several times and not as often as we'd like because when they're busy, it gets loud. All of their locations share this particular problem. At any rate, we went right at opening today and it wasn't loud, so that's the trick if you like to be able to have a conversation with your dining partner(s). It wasn't too packed today and shortly after we found a booth, a family of four sat in the adjoining booth. Their child was pretty active and I kept getting bumped, but I have a pretty good tolerance for that kind of stuff. Our server was a bit slow but did take our initial drink orders (water). As he came by a second time, I asked for coffee, which he got and delivered. Note: he still had not taken our food order and we had already put the menus away. On his third pass, he stopped at the family of four and took their order. Remember, they came in after us. My husband noted that his tip amount was declining and I quipped that perhaps he wouldn't get one at all. He finally came to us, apologized for the wait, and took our orders. My husband ordered the pastrami sandwich and I ordered the fish taco special. Our food came out quickly and was delicious. The fish was done perfectly, as was the sandwich. Good flavor and texture and not overly greasy, which often happens with pub food. When our server brought our food, I asked how long he had been waiting tables. He answered that he had been working at Capone's for four months, but that he'd worked off and on for six years as a bartender. He explained that waiting tables is significantly different than bartending and showed us his section. He apologetically told us that he became overwhelmed when his section filled up all at the same time. Well, that makes a ton of sense to me, so all was forgiven and we gave him a hefty tip because clearly he was doing the best he could. We'll be back, I'm sure, but more than likely always at opening. read more

This was my wife's and a third time there the first time we went there the food was excellent and the service was OK the second time you went there the food was just OK and the service was just OK the last time you went the service was OK and the food was terrible unfortunately we will not be back. There are 3 locations- CDA, PF, and Hayden. My family lives in PF, Rathdrum, and Hauser. We have a few options but Hayden is where we ALWAYS come. New to the area and this was our second visit. Ordered the cheesy bread for starters and received it cold. Asked politely if we could get it when it was warm and they were accommodating. My husband and I got our food before other plates came out. We had a pizza and the veggies were not warm/cooked but it was fine. When we were half way done eating the rest of the food came out. My daughter got the wings which was good. My son got the Philly cheesesteak (beef). It smelled so horrible to the point of gagging. I tested the meat and it was burnt and dry. I politely asked for a manager and asked her to smell it. She said she couldn't because of allergies but did take it in the back. She came back and said the smell was from the cheese being burnt and refunded that entree. No one asked if my son wanted anything else and that was it. The waiter said maybe two words to us after we talked to the manager. We ended up going to another food establishment so that my teen son could get a decent dinner. read more

I've been back here a few more times since my last two-star review. It is safe to say that the service has greatly improved and they've worked out the kinks. The food is spot on, like the one on fourth street. The only downside to this location is the noise. The acoustics are horrible. After having a good meal at Capone's in CDA, the Hayden location is a real disappointment. Although the place could use a good cleaning, the real disappointment was the food and the staff response to the poor quality. After waiting 45 minutes for food to arrive our pizza was cold. The waitress took it back and offered to make a new one, shortly thereafter the "manager (the guy with the cleanest dirty shirt)" came by. Rather than apologizing, he said that he watched our pizza get made and delivered and there was no time lost for it to get cold. The process doesn't matter, the result is what matters, and the result was serving a cold pizza. This place needs a good cleaning and an attitude adjustment. Must depend on what you're having. I really wanted to like this place, but I think I want to like it more than I actually do. I had the buddy meatball sandwich and it was extremely bland. Subways meatball sub is way better......seriously. Had the clam chowder, it was okay.......Ivars is five times better. Had a bite of the pulled pork sandwich......it was fine. Nothing wow'd anyone. DRINKS: Had a decent selection of quality microbrew, and everything I've tried was great. They do tasters. DECOR: Average / Above Average. LAST THOUGHTS: We come for the food and memories, but the service is usually poor, particularly so at this location. God help you if you bring a guest who's worked as a waiter or waitress.
