I called Capy at 4:45 PM right before they were closing at 5 PM yesterday, their sales associates were so helpful over the phone and Cappy ensured that the quart of paint I needed to complete my project was mixed and ready by the time I got to the store. He never tries to upsell you anything and will listen to your needs and suggest things accordingly without trying to rip you off. I bought primer there and the paint as well, and they helped me pick out a much better primer than I was using and it came out amazing! They even helped walk the paint with me to my car. This Complaint is not about the Store or its products. Instead it is about a referral a store employee made to us when we inquired about recommending Painting Contractors. Late Oct 2017 we asked for a referral and got a call from a John Kulick of Magic Touch Painters. He showed up Nov 10,2017 gave a price quote of $2,800.00 and we paid in advance $1,000.00 besides the balance of $1,800.00 he said there would be an additional charge for Paint & Supplies. His men showed up on time and were very nice and they did a great job. Then he shows up with the final bill of $5,357.00. Minus the down payment of $1,000 he billed us an additional $4,357.00 dollars. He never gave us an itemized Estimate or Final bill instead he scrawled out the numbers as a 6th grader would. He never provided his Contractors Lic # and yes we stupidly paid him. A few days later after many phone calls he agreed to refund $600.00. That never happened. All we got from him were phone calls with veiled threats. I have sent detailed complaints to the NYS BBB and to Home Advisor regarding his treatment of Senior Citizens. All of which accomplished nothing. I implore you Shop at this store if you want to. But if anyone recommends John Kulick of Magic Touch Painters then Run don't walk right out of this store. The worst customer service ever. This new owner thinks that he is cute and funny but actually rude and condescending. He tried to sell me something more expensive than what I needed or requested thinking that I would fall into his grasp. I went to return the item 2 days later and he made a huge display in front of the other customers that he was doing me a favor by taking the return and issuing the refund. Stay away from here. You can buy the same merchandise elsewhere and have a pleasant experience. read more

My husband and I went to Cappy's for paint for our new home. I must say we weren't easy to deal with (bickering with each other throughout the process), yet Anthony was very patient as we were placing our order. He was also very honest, guiding us so that we wouldn't buy more paint than we actually needed. Well, the house is done and everything came out beautiful. My husband and I went to Cappys to purchase paint for our bathroom. The assistant behind the counter was condescending and responded to my question in a tone that was mocking. Similar to past reviews, suggestions were made to purchase very expensive paints used in commercial locations that we did not need in a private home. When we were directed to the sample colors on the wall, the owner came and hovered over us like we were going to steal something and pressing us with questions. While we did find a color sample that we liked, my husband and I left and went to another store that sells Benjamin Moore to purchase it. read more
