My Boss decided to treat a few of us to Pizza on a recent night at work, and he picked Capri as the place. He ordered two large thin crust cheese pizzas. Pizza is my thing. I use a pretty standard template for judging all pizzas. The 3 main elements: (in order of importance to me) Sauce, Cheese, and Crust. There are other factors, but how these blend together are very important to me. I had Capri when it was known as Taylor Street. I can't really speak of any of the other dishes at the old or new restaurant, but they offer typical mom and pop type dishes: Burgers, Fries, hot dogs, beefs, sausages, pastas, and pizzas. Full disclaimer: I'm a stuffed guy first and foremost, followed by Pan, followed by deep dish, followed by double dough, followed by regular crust, followed by thin crust. I am not a fan of the cracker thin crust. I like a bit of chew to my pizza. Capri's thin crust cheese is very 'vanilla' in my opinion. First off, there was a serious lack of sauce on the pizza. A quick note: it was sliced in squares, like most typical Chicago area thin crust joints do. I prefer Triangle cut. Back to the task at hand! The only slices that had an measurable amount of sauce were the ones towards the edge of the pizza. I love the interior of thin crust pizzas, but for this one, the amount of sauce was almost laughable. I removed some cheese from one of the interior squares, and there was no measurable sauce on the square. Very disappointing. The crust towards the middle was chewy, as was most of the pizza, sans the edges. This is how I would expect a thin crust cheese to be cooked. It wasn't chewy to the point of being undercooked, or crunchy to the point of being burnt. As for the cheese, there was no real distinct taste either way. It definitely featured mozzarella, and it was minimal seasoned. It reminded me of a Rosati's pizza without the oregano (not even sure they was any type of seasoning on this pizza). All in all, Capri charged 17.95 per pizza. I think that's a bit high, but it turned out to be around 40 dollars including plates, utensils (which I didn't use), and a 6 pack of coke. I didn't pay, which was a bonus. I ended up having around 12-15 pieces, and I was not satisfied at all. Probably why I'm a Stuffed fan, because that is filling to me! I'm not going to go out of my way to order Capri. I see that they offer Deep Dish, Pan, and Stuffed, but the sauce, or what I had the chance to sample, didn't really wow me. I'd put them ahead (taste wise) of your Pizza Huts, Papa Johns, and Dominos, but for value, I'd put them on par with the restaurants mentioned. Just an Okay for me. read more

This pizza is awesome! We have only ordered delivery, but I have never been disappointed. We've tried the double crust, thin crust, and Chicago-style... I would say the thin crust wins hands-down. This might be the only place I know of that will deliver hot fresh hamburgers to your door. I give an A-OK rating just for this fact. The hamburgers themselves weren't the greatest, I prefer charbroiled to oven baked any day. And they are really heavy on the mustard, I'll get it on the side next time. But if you want prompt delivery and average food so that you can stay home and be lazy, might as well give it a try. read more

Second time my family and I have ordered from Capri. Pizza is not as greasy as some restaurants. Deliver was on time with the order and driver was polite. Capri has replaced one of our other favorite pizza restaurant. And we will continue to order from Capri. read more

I tried the slice to go and though it's a good deal for $3.25 for a big piece, I didn't love it. It was extra greasy on top and then the cheese had a unique flavor that didn't suit me. I thought the crust was pretty, though! :) They have a clear menu and I know that people love it, here so I will be back to try the thin crust pizza or a sandwich since it's close to work. read more

Have you seen the Seinfeld where Jerry's girlfriend changes from super hot to pungent-looking depending on the lighting? From my experience, and in talking to others, that's how Capri's pizza quality is like. It's inconsistent. I'm torn on Capri. Sometimes, the pizza slices taste like Keith Hernandez. Other times, I'd prefer not to have the taste of George Costanza on my tongue. In truth, it doesn't vary that widely but it's noticeable even for an idiot like me. One thing I really like about this place is that they always have pizza by the slice (for around $3 or 3.50) that's usually relatively fresh. This is definitely a take-out place though. They've only got a few tables inside their space and a few just outside so plan on taking your food elsewhere. Capri's pizzas aren't bad but keep your expectations low so you aren't disappointed. read more

Capri has a really good Chicago Style deep dish, and they are great about delivery times. A little pricey but still good quality. Capri sells more than just pizza, such as pasta and sandwiches. You can usually expect a 30-45 minute delivery depending on what you order. read more

They make fantastic cheese calzones - lots of cheese, just the right amount of sauce. Deliveries are always on time, and the food is always hot and fresh. A definite win in Wheaton. read more

When I need a quick lunch and I'm craving a slice I always think of Capri's first. Everytime I've ever gotten a slice of pizza from there it's fresh. There is never that "tastes like it's been sitting awhile" taste. I wouldn't say it's may favorite pizza in the Chicagoland area, but when I'm in the area and I want a quality slice, I'll stop in at Capri's over anything else in Wheaton. read more

A take-out/carry-out place down the street from my work. We probably have ordered from there three times a month for two years. Some of there stuff is really good: Meatball Sub, steak wrap, calzones (though they are way too big), hamburgers and, oddly, the BBQ beef sandwich. The only description of it makes it sound gross: Italian beef with BBQ sauce, but that isn't quite right and the thing is excellent. Some stuff, not so much: cheese sauce (microwavable cheese pouch, nasty) that goes on anything and the onion rings are gross-ish. The owner contacted me with a genuine apology for what had happened regarding getting sick from the gluten free pizza I ordered from his establishment. He listed off an impressive checklist the staff is required to complete in order to guard against cross contamination..it honestly blew my mind how thorough he was in his instructions. Who knows, maybe some freak accident happened or someone just wasn't paying attention to his rules in either case it wasn't the owners fault so I'm retracting my previous review. I'm very impressed with the owner and will more than likely try their gluten free pizza again (because it was actually very good) once my stomach lining heals in a few months. read more

We order from here quite often since its the closest to our house. The pizza is good, not fantastic (However, I am super picky) but whenever we have people over they all seem to like it. I especially like them because they always offer coupons, the pizza comes piping hot and on time. The delivery driver is great too! This restaurant is the best! Definitely. If you are a person like me that loves a place great for nice hang out, either with your own solo self-date or with your circle of friends then well, this is it. When I first got here with my friends, we were just actually looking for a place to hang out with a pair of nice simple food but when we bumped on here and decided to stay, I definitely already thought of going for another time. The staff greeted us and they are actually quite friendly yet also very professional. Their menu is very huge and organized as well and highlighted with such delicious food. I personally, recommend trying out their pizza (of course), their cheese burger, pizza and pasta! Whenever we have people over and order it everyone always comments "this is good pizza". Is it the best pizza in the world? I have been ordering from Capri at least once every two weeks since long before the name change. I have regularly ordered their butterfly shrimp dinner. So when I ordered it last night to find that they had changed either brands or suppliers, I was very disappointed! The product now being served is some kind of ground shrimp product with breading on it. They do add the tail so that you know it is shrimp. It really was quite disgusting and inedible. I also noticed that the breaded mushrooms seemed different (lower quality). I did contact the restaurant and talk to the manager. He said that he would talk to his suppliers and left it at that. For me, I think I'll just pass and find another place to order from! read more

This is a good pizza place by the slice. It's like a better version of mall-pizza like Sbarros. The pepperoni is probably your safest bet, I agree with some of the others, the sausage is a slightly different taste/texture than what you'd expect. But still go here first before wasting your money across the street at Dominos. Still good pizza, but being in Chicago it's hard to give it 5 stars, we just have so much good pizza around! read more

Great food for a very fair price! Everything is good from the pizza, the burgers and salads to the sides... my personal favorite is the pepper and egg sandwich which they have all year and every day instead of just during lent. They deliver quickly and have a great range; you really can't beat this place as they are half the price of some of their competition and the food is as good or better. read more

The food is good, but depending on who you talk to when you order you get different prices for the extras such as certain salad dressings or anchovies on top.. Daughter was sick on her birthday so we had to order in decided to try capri because they deliver for lunch. Ravioli, mozzarella sticks, fries, chocolate brownie, and bread sticks were terrible.
