Best burger i have ever had. Our family has tried many things on the menu and its all delicious. Great food and great people.

I ordered the large chef salad it is big enough for four people, no joke. The price for the LARGE chef salad was only $9.99, this is crazy, it's the biggest best priced chef salad I have ever had. For me if they added an egg, some croutons and two pepperoncini's and bumped the price to $12.99 I am still getting it all the time and it's a 5 star. Richelle ordered the BLT wrap and cheese curds, we only ate the cheese curds, she ate 1/4 of the Large salad. Yummy cheese curds, would love to see a signature dipping sauce to take these curds over the top. We left with an entire BLT wrap and half of the large salad to take home. Nice clean dinning space in the back for our 11 person group. Service was good, small wait for all the drinks, several deliveries but I think our server was possibly working without a servers tray. read more

Great little restaurant. Nothing about "fast food" here, and that is really good. This restaurant reminds me of places my parents used to take me back in the 1950's. Nothing fancy, just very good food at reasonable prices. We've driven up here from Cincinnati 3 times in the last year and we always look forward to coming back! read more

4 Stars My wife and I visited the Capricorn Inn for the first time and had a very enjoyable experience. We were greeted right away by our waitress, who seated us and offered helpful menu suggestions since it was our first visit. She was extremely friendly and even joked, "If you leave hungry, it's your fault," which set a great tone for the evening. The restaurant itself is quaint and cozy, tucked away from the busy city atmosphere--perfect for a relaxed dinner. We ordered the smash hamburger and the sampler platter, and everything was very good. The portions were generous, and the flavors did not disappoint. Before we left, our waitress asked if we wanted dessert. The dessert menu looked great, so we chose two to take home for a late-night snack: the cheesecake and the turtle cheesecake. The portions were huge, and the prices were very reasonable. Overall, it was a great experience--great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. We will definitely be back. read more

Absolutely the worst restaurant I've ever been to. It started the moment we walked in and were hit with a dirty, sour smell. We decided to still give it a try, which was a mistake. There were dirty dishes piled up everywhere, and the floors and tables were filthy, sticky, and smelled bad. When the food arrived, the fries were poor quality, and the lettuce was brown and clearly not fresh. There was food all over the floor as well. I wondered what the hype was all about and initially felt it was just the lack of competition since this is a dive diner in the middle of nowhere. When we first walked in I thought "this is it?" The parking lot was full, but the seating section was tiny and felt very old school. It turns out there are two dining areas. You have to walk between the kitchen and the cash register to get to the bigger half. We'll try that next time because the smaller section felt cramped. The food is decent, the prices are great, and the portions are huge so the budget-friendly convenience for the hungry people could be the draw. That's why we will be back and it's also why I'm giving them four stars even though the quality of the food and atmosphere would usually only give them three from me. I do appreciate a good value when I'm feeling too lazy to cook. The burgers were recommended to us, and who doesn't love a good burger! They are smash burgers and they are huge! Too big to pick up because the burger extended way beyond the bun. We used forks to whittle them down until we could pick them up. They were flavorful and cooked perfectly. I wish someone had told me how HUGE the sides are. We absolutely could have shared an order of tots. It's big enough to feed your whole family. We also enjoyed the cheese curds, but again, huge portion. Next time we'll split the fried mushrooms. Side note, we wanted to order another cheap beer and dessert, but the server never came back so we gave up and left, after paying the bill at the counter. read more

We've passed this place a few times on a our way to Cowan Lake to do some camping. This time we made a point of making this a camping meal. I picked up a to go order and we ate our burgers at the camper. First, the amount of fries you get is over the top. And the burgers. Yea. I'm not a burger person. I never order burgers when I eat out. After reading the reviews I decided to break this habit. We will be ordering from Capricorn Inn EVERY time we camp in the area and I will get the burger EVERY time. Food was hot, fries crispy. Worth a drive to this spot! read more

Came here on a busy friday night. I expected to have some kind of wait. Unfortunately, it took 90 minutes to get our food after ordering. 90 minutes for burgers and fries.... Waitresses checked for refills one time in that 90 minutes. When the food finally came out, everything was about room temperature or colder. Also, the waitresses were bringing food out where the bottom of a plate was stacked on top of food. It's definitely not the most sanitary way to do it, considering what the plates were sitting on before coming out. I've been here a couple of times in the past and would suggest this place to family and friends. Last night has me rethinking returning and referrals. Rod's, you can do better than this. If you can find the place you're in for some good food and good prices. I didn't understand how they have a restaurant way out in the middle of nothing and how it does so well. The service was friendly, portions beyond generous and reasonable prices. For some reason I had a cash convenience charge of $1.75. The price quickly went up with that nonsense charge, $3.00 to put cheese on the french fries, and ticky-tack charges. When I left, I let out some farts and pulled them back Inn. read more

Everyone is very polite and make you feel welcome when you walk into the restaurant. There's one older lady that she's not very nice and she doesn't care what she brings you or what your plate looks like so I try to avoid her at all times but other than that, the food is great. A place outside of town that's low key. If you want a great burger, this is the place. I also recommend the onion rings. Rod's Capricorn Inn is the true definition of a "mom and pop" establishment. It doesn't have much curb appeal, but the staff was very nice! The food was awesome and more importantly very reasonably priced. Take CASH. They do not accept debit or credit cards. They do however have an ATM. We are burger fans and are always open to checking out new places. Now I will say this place is a little bit of a drive for us. However, we went to a wildlife preserve that is in Waynesville, for a hike, with plans to then check out Capricorn Inn for some burgers (while we were up in that part of town). It is a small cozy place with very nice and friendly workers (a true dive place). We went for the Rod Burger, fully dressed, with a side of fries and a side of cauliflower. These were great burgers and good sides. Love the presentation. The burger overflows the bun. If they used a bigger bun it would be to much bread ... liked the over sized burger. Definitely worth the drive and lots of neat places in that area if you want to take a mini day trip. Now in our top 5 burger list. read more

Live in Dayton and the Wilmington area I consider my hometown (grew up there). My aunt suggested we go there for lunch back when you still called the number to place your order and they bring it to your vehicle. We'll now you can go inside to sit down and enjoy their delicious home cooked burgers. The staff is friendly and service is without mistakes. There were a few negative reviews about the service and food and we were a little hesitant to give it a try but Wilmington's food options are pretty limited and we were desperate. I'm really glad we did. Service was GREAT. Food wasn't Michelin rated but it was extremely good and there was plenty of it and very reasonably priced. We had the pickles and the cauliflower to start and there were enough to share among 5 of us with plenty left over. I had a burger that was pretty doggone delicious. One of us had the small chef salad that honestly could have fed all of us. And it was fresh! The wrap was equally as huge. A side of fries could have fed all of us too. It's pretty much a dive but who cares? Food and service were the best I'd had the entire trip. We come every year for the Arabian show and we'll definitely be back.
