Went right at opening time on a Saturday. No wait, prompt friendly service. My husband got a custom sandwich with turkey and salami. He said the turkey was awesome. It's fresh roasted pulled turkey, not the deli sliced stuff. Unfortunately, very little salami. I imagine he could ask for more if he ordered again. The bread was soft and fresh, but I prefer an authentic, crusty bread; just my preference, especially for a hot cheesesteak, which is what my order was. I got the waygu cheesesteak. It came with mushrooms and onions. You can add hot peppers, which I should have done, because the sandwich itself was a little bland and hardly any onion. The meat itself was great, tender and lean. If I ordered it again I would ask for more onion and horseradish. I much prefer Sam's deli fresh bread, but this place's meat is better. Cute modern feel inside. Plenty of seating. Second time coming here and still wasn't impressed with the beef dip. Location is clean and service is nice but I just can't get through the actual food. The meat tasted off. Like maybe it had been in the freezer too long. Was lacking flavor all around. I heard the pilgrim was one of the best they had but can't vouch for that. And maybe their other sandwiches are better but if I'm paying premium price for their higher quality dipped beef then I'm expecting a top notch dipped beef and not something I need to push through. We ordered delivery tonight. My French dip sandwich was not good. The bread was so soggy. I couldn't eat the bread and wasn't wanting to dip it in the au jus. That was a bummer. We tried the Wagyu this time, and it surprising, wasn't as flavorful as the standard beef. It was great, but I expected a BIG difference, and it, surprisingly, just wasn't there. The thing I love is their bread. It is perfect for a hot, cheesy sandwich. It holds together but is soooo soft! Classic Meatball sandwich: meatball is flavorful, cheesy and stringy and the bread is not soggy. Bread is fluffy and not crunchy. Meatball portion is perfect to bread ratio, the meatball is big. The marinara sauces was flavorful and not salty. Rating 8/10 Wagyu Beef Cheese steak: Steak is tender but not flavorful, the onions and mushrooms are correctly portion to meat and bread. The Wagyu meat itself tasted like it was gamey after taking more bites. 6/10 Pastrami Sandwich: Brandon our friend ordered: Capastrami- I am a huge pastrami fan, the pastrami was nicely cut (thin and plenty). The Russian sauce was also a nice touch. Reminded me of a more tangier 1000 island sauce. Chicken Chipotle Crunch: Brandon our friend order: Chicken Chipotle crunch - Like ice spice says the chicken Chipotle crunch is a "Munch". The crispy cheddar onions are a nice touch for texture. We walked in and from that moment we were greeted by a friendly, helpful staff. They were happy to answer our questions and give suggestions. One of us had the Bobby (Thanksgiving dinner in a sandwich). It was delicious and very flavorful. Although I prefer a veggie filled sandwich, it was tasty and fun to try something different. My son got the 18" Wagyu cheesesteak and devoured it. He said it was the second best cheesesteak he's ever had. We tried their clam chowder- very thick, with cheese. I visited the location today whilst waiting for my stretch at stretch lab. I walked in, and after reviewing the menu, opted for the Turkey. That was the second mistake. The first mistake was not listening to people that warned me not to get Turkey from them. Let's start with my entrance. I politely strolled through the doors when someone held them open for me like I was a king. I waltzed right in. One star on this post is for that customer who did this. So I walk in and am immediately greeted by two employees saying welcome. Great customer service for that. That is the end of the stars. I ordered that Turkey sandwich expecting perfection and what I received was a sandwich shaped taco thing. No seriously, it had to be eaten like a taco. So here I am thinking how am I actually going to bite into this sandwich like it is my favorite food when it isn't even in a tortilla (please store do not get ideas selling tacos as your meat is dry). So alas I ensure no one can see me when I take that first bite and as I do I'm greeted with a juicy tomato, that is the end of the juiciness. That Turkey was dry. Think Fresno in the middle of summer drought. Think Arizona in the middle of summer. Think the Sahara desert in the middle of summer. I should have just had some sand, it would have been juicier. If the Turkey is made dry imagine what the other sandwiches taste like. Please for the love of all that is holy taste your Turkey and figure out what you need to do to ensure it is not dry. Condiments do not help. Tomatoes do not help. Lettuce does not help. Get you someone to taste test that Turkey that knows how to ensure the bird it moist. Oh I would give the chips a star but that would put the entire store at 3 stars and until they have moist meet 3 stars is too much. We first started going to the original, first Capriotti's in Fresno Fig Garden a few years ago. That location is good. We were excited to have a Capriotti's closer to home and have enjoyed this location on Shepherd and Willow many times in the past. Something has changed. I'm not sure if ownership has changed but something has changed and it's not good. We ordered a few weeks ago and I ventured away from my usual American Wagyu Cheesesteak and tried a cold Italian and it was awful. Bread...terrible. ingredients..all bad. Horrible. Ok, learned my lesson. I'll stick to their hot sandwiches. Fast forward to tonight and we both got our usual American Wagyu Cheesesteak. We were both sick fairly quick after eating the sandwiches and something was just off. Horrible flavor and definitely not the wagyu we are use to so thought maybe they gave us the regular cheesesteak. Which is bad if they did that on purpose. Bland, no flavor whatsoever. They didn't add mayo like we ordered. Hardly any meat and very little cheese, onions or peppers. I'm mad that we got cheap sandwiches because our order was over $35 and now we both are sick to our stomaches. Very bad. Not going here again. I was excited to try this sandwich shop as I'm a fan of Italian subs. I came in at 2pm, and ordered a half size of their classic Italian sub. There was no one ahead of me in line, but it still took 10-15 min for me to get my sandwich. The staff was very nice about it, but it took longer than I expected for a simple sandwich. Once I got the sandwich, I was disappointed in the size and taste. I ordered the half sub, but it was as smaller than I expected for the price. The bread was very soft but I would have liked for it to be toasted or have a nice crust on it, because the bread was essentially just a basic white roll. Also the flavor of the sandwich was pretty bland, it could have used some vinegar or banana peppers or something because it was mostly just oily lettuce and meat on white bread. I was excited to try this place, and maybe one of their hot sandwiches would be better, but I was not impressed with the sandwich I got and would not pay that price for that sandwich again. read more
