If you've read my other reviews, you know I'm an honest reviewer. The restaurant is small. What I mean by that is, the ordering area will only accommodate three or four people tops. The indoor seating area has only four or six tables, so be prepared to eat outside or take it home. The place is very clean and the people are very friendly. I had the cheesesteak sandwich which was delicious. It was packed fully with beef and sweet peppers. It was a little lite on the cheese, but that's ok with me, just so you know. Opted for fries instead of the other sides available. They were very good, hot and crispy. Yes the price is a little high, but that's the world we live in now. The app did not work on my dear friend's I phone, but I just added her order to mine and that worked fine! I did not like you couldn't modify or cancel your order after placing it via the app. I had the American Wagyu French Dip, half sub, 5 inch, no mayo which was $8.73 after the $2 discount, and friend had the Homemade Turkey, small sub, 8 inch, no raw onions which was $10.84. Both sandwiches were made correctly. We arrive 20 minutes prior to the pickup time I indicated on the app and they were just starting the orders. We were the only customers. The staff were all wearing matching uniforms, hats, and plastic gloves [I'm not sure if the cashier had gloves on]. The restaurant interior was tight, and I thought the music was too loud. The restaurant was clean, including the single unisex restroom. The staff were friendly and smiling! They forgot my au jus and were happy to give me a giant container of it, which was overkill for the size of the sub. Dear friend loved her sub. She was very excited to try this Capriotti's since she loved the Bobbie sub she had in Vegas as Capriotti's. I thought Wagyu beef was wasted on a sub sandwich. The sandwich was very filling, the au jus was hot, and I was grateful to have ice water from their fountain machine while friend got a diet drink. I'm not really a sub fan. I never wake up craving a sub. I also thought these were pricy subs! Friend's coke was $3.25. Do know, there is not ample seating inside and the "feels like" temp yesterday was supposed to reach 107 degrees. I was grateful we were able to get indoor seating. I'm glad to have tried Capriotti's; however, I personally don't have a desire to return, because of not being a big sandwich fan. I also just prefer table service and don't want to be constantly walking around to pick up the order, get napkins, refill my water, get the au jus they forgot, throw away my trash, because I've already worked a long day and I prefer to relax while dining. read more

Got to visit Capriotti's for lunch last week. This is a chain restaurant but the first one in Huntsville. Saw lots of people strongly anticipating the shop's arrival and I was looking forward to trying it. Located in the Clift Farm area, on a busier day or a more peak hour I can see how parking might be a challenge. I managed to snag a spot right by the entrance, which was nice, though backing up into the busy street to leave was a bit nerve-wracking. I walked into a tidy sandwich shop and was promptly greeted by an employee. The decor isn't super eye-catching or unique but it doesn't need to be. Limited seating and space inside. Seems like there is more seating outside but idk if that will continue as more tenants move in to the surrounding storefronts. The women's restroom was very clean. The menu is a little overwhelming but I'd done my research online first and knew what I wanted to order, so I got a half-size classic cheese steak (5 inches, according to the website), a bag of chips, and a Coke for right at $15. Pricy, but I dunno if I'd call it insane. The half size is fairly small, but I personally appreciate the ability to order a smaller portion, especially at lunch time. I noticed too late that they actually have French fries here! Not on the online menu. Probably would've ordered those if I'd seen it earlier, but oh well, probably saved me some calories. My sandwich took an average amount of time to come out; I was neither wowed nor annoyed by my wait time. It was wrapped nicely and probably would've traveled well. The way it was wrapped made it look a good bit larger than it actually wound up being, but like I said, I don't mind a smaller sandwich at lunch. I managed to get a small table inside and decided to eat it fresh and people watch. My verdict on this cheese steak is: meh. Admittedly, I've never had a cheese steak in their Philadelphia motherland and my experience with them overall is fairly limited, but I'd prefer a Jersey Mike's Big Kahuna cheesesteak any day. I did like the bread on this sandwich, and I liked it well enough to finish it, but it was just sort of...weird. The beef had a chunkier quality to it and was a little tough; I got basically no heat despite the hot peppers I asked for (honestly think they might've been forgotten); and worst of all, there was an oddly gravy-like consistency to the whole conglomeration. I had several bites that tasted exactly like the peppery gravy you put on like a sausage and gravy biscuit and those bites were big turnoffs. Writing this, it sounds worse than it really was when I ate it, but I'm having a hard time articulating the parts that I enjoyed, mostly because the not-bad parts were inoffensive if unremarkable. I dunno. 3 stars at best. Appreciated the clean restaurant, good air conditioning, and opportunities for personal choice and customization. Decided to try Capriotti's since it's been open for a few months. I must say I love hot and cold subs, so definitely was looking forward to some good food. They have a pretty big menu. So after looking over it, I decided to get the grilled classic Italian sub with chips. It was quite a few orders the staff was working on so it took a while for me to get my food. The sub itself was pretty good. It was seasoned nicely. I like with this sub you can order it cold or hot (grilled). The only complaint I have is for the amount of money I paid, I thought I would get a little more meat on my sandwich. I usually go to Jersey Mike's because their meat proportions are always great, but so far, not at Capriotti's. Also keep in mind, the inside of the restaurant doesn't offer a lot of seating so either you have to go at a great time, whatever that is, sit outside (hopefully it's not raining, too cold, and/or pollen season) or you will have to get it to go. The service was great. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice inside seating, but the outside seating in the evening is fantastic. You can enjoy the sunset. The food was pretty good. Nice menu, but I ordered the Italian and went with their sweet peppers. Definitely a mistake there. Next time I'll go with the pastrami. I love a good Italian and a good pastrami, but I felt the sandwich just had the wrong flavor profile and was pretty short on meat for my taste. Next time I'll order extra meat on the sandwich. Everything is a learning experience. We all have different tastes. Loaded with veggies would have been perfect for my wife, but I prefer more balance of flavors. Great place. I've been twice, and held my review to make sure I was well balanced. The food is solid 3/5. I went there for their "Bobbie" because that is my favorite from Earl of Sandwich. The bar is high. The staff is very friendly and wants to help. 5/5. The facility is 2/5. Too crammed! They can seat maybe six couples inside. It is awkward to stand around and wait on your food...you are constantly in the way of the door, trash can, or the bathroom. Awkward! I'd eat here again, but it would be mobile order, run in and pickup, and run out. Beyond that, I didn't lose anything here except $15 for a small sandwich with chips and a drink. 3/5. Last weekend while in Athens we decided to give Capriotti's in Madison another try. Having been there on opening day and having great sandwiches why wouldn't we stop back for more tasty foods, right? We arrived around 2:00. There were lots of cars in the parking lot, 9 people sitting outside, 6 people in line to order and all 4 tables inside full. There were 6 people standing off to the side probably waiting on their foods. We almost turned around and left but my husband said let's see how it goes. We heard the person taking the order say it would be 30 minutes for a hot sandwich. That didn't ring a bell and turn on my pay attention light until I was placing my order asking for a large Philly Cheesesteak. When I heard 30 minutes, I asked my husband if he wanted to wait and he said order cold sandwiches to go and let's leave. It was very crowded inside. I ordered the Italian and the turkey. I left a tip and the employee said something about a tip out loud and the employees cheerfully responded with "thank you". I didn't hear very many of those thank you's called out while I stood waiting for 38 minutes for two cold sandwiches. We paid and moved to the side to wait with others. I noticed sandwiches stacking up, 6, waiting to be handed out and presumed they accompanied a hot sandwich. I don't think their flat top for cooking hot sandwiches is large enough. Their famous hot sandwiches seemed to be what people wanted. There is a learning curve and we must be patient. My complaint this time is my sandwiches didn't have much taste or filling. The cold Italian I had was tasteless due to lack of meats. My grilled Italian from the previous visit had more meats and tasted like an Italian should. My cold Turkey was dry and had very little turkey compared to my previous visit. We felt like we had bread sandwiches. I want a sandwich that looks like the pictures used to advertise. My expectations are high because my foods delivered to me opening day were great. They weren't identical to the store pictures but they delivered great taste for the prices charged. We would have used the App to order but it is temporarily unavailable. Last week I checked the App and it did not say temporarily unavailable. A couple hours later I checked and the App was set back to temporarily unavailable. We will wait and give Capriotti's more time to figure out how to run efficiently. Right now the ambiance is lacking due to so many people milling about inside. Who wants to eat with someone standing close by? I heard more seating would be put outside. I am not a fan of sitting outside waiting in the hot sun during humid months ahead. Others may not mind the heat and prefer being outside but not us. This store has potential to do well. I visited the Grand Opening today and was Customer #1. I ordered the Small Sausage and it was delicious. The bread was fresh and the Italian sausage was very good. The only critique is I wish the ingredients were slightly warmer. The service was friendly and quick with only a few first-day jitters. The interior is small so plan to get your sammies to go. There are a couple of tables outside for your dining pleasure. The price is a little high, but food inflation is out of control. For the small sammy and a medium drink, the total was $15.19 plus a 10% tip brought the total to $16.58. read more

We finally visited this spot today, and we (party of 4) really liked it! Everyone we spoke to and interacted with was very friendly. We received our food quickly, and it was delicious. There are some outside and inside seating options, and around 5 pm on July 4th, the inside was full quickly after we sat down. Great AC for this time of year, which isn't always so common with how hot can get. I have noticed some comments about price... I will admit that it is not the cost of a Firehouse/Jimmy John's, but it's also not the quality of those stores either. I personally think you can taste the difference, and the price doesn't seem so steep when you realize what you're paying for. A hot italian is one of my favorite sandwiches. I ordered a SMALL hot Italian with a bag of chips and small soda. This was the most flavorless Italian I've ever had. Looking at their menu it seems that the Philly is the sandwich they're known for. Maybe they skimp on the other meats to make up for having quality beef? This sandwich belongs in the cooler of a corporate owned gas station with a $4.99 price tag on it. With chips and a drink it cost me over $16. It's a shame I didn't try the beef first because it's going to be a long time until I try this place again. I placed a to-go order at Capriotti's and had a really disappointing experience. When I arrived, my order wasn't ready, so I waited. No problem there, but when it was finally done, they didn't call my name or let me know. The bag just sat behind the counter while I was standing right there. This place has its hits and misses. I'm boring so I got the homemade turkey sandwich, which wasn't special. It didn't stick out to me. The fries were pretty good, they're a unique shape and very crispy. The salad was pretty good as well. The service was pretty fast, though it was not busy. Capriotti's is a great Italian Northeast-style sub shop and a welcome addition to Huntsville-Madison area. Being from Baltimore-area originally , I remember classic Italian deli shops that would serve great Italian meat hoagies and other types of sandwiches. Capriotti's originally from Wilmington, Delaware has franchised in the best way it can those classic Italian deli shops. While there's no meats hanging from the ceilings, there are fresh cut meats awaiting you while you decide what you want . Similar to a Jersey Mikes or Wawa hoagie you get freshly sliced meats, cheeses and toppings. One of the signature subs, is "The Bobbie " , the ultimate Thanksgiving sandwich complete with fresh-cut Turkey breast , stuffing , cranberry sauce and mayo. What an awesome sensory experience !!!! The service has been great since they opened a few months ago., now that the crowds have died down from initial excitement you can better enjoy this hoagie experience. While it's a small little place, there's decent seating both inside and outside . Love the food, atmosphere, service and commitment to great ingredients. Great Job! read more

On May 28, 2024, my husband, granddaughter & I came to capriotti's for lunch. My husband ordered a cheesesteak with waguh meat. Not good. I ordered the chicken balsamic vinegar salad. Just okay. Not great service here either. As we were leaving, I asked if I could have a lid for my 5 year old granddaughter who always spills her drink. They said no lid for water cups. Okay....so how bout we pour water into a cup for which there is a lid. They ALL looked at me blankly & said "no only if you buy a big drink". We'd spent $34 at this sandwich spot. But nope, no lids for kiddos. What the hell. So I went to my car, got a water bottle, poured her cup water in it, and put a LID on it. Thanks for nothing capriotti staff. The seating area inside is filled with people waiting for their to go orders...not dine in. We placed an order for a small classic cheesesteak and a small turkey sandwich. We ordered more items, but the gentleman at the register didn't ring them up, so we didn't correct and felt we weren't being listened to when placing our order. Loss of sales $$$ for them. It took 43 minutes for us to get our food. Competitors have faster service. They blamed it on the grill taking too long. Goodness...we could go to a full service restaurant and get in and out faster than Capriotti's Sandwich Shop. Currently all the tables are full and NOBODY has any food to eat! First of all, these sandwiches are all they've been hyped up to be. We got a turkey, wagyu roast beef, French dip, and meatball. Everyone pretty much said it was the best they've had. The meat practically melts in your mouth. The bread is so fresh and soft. Yum! However, a word of advice: When placing your order be SURE you see the order or have them read it back to you exactly before you pay. When I asked about the kids meal, I was told it came with chips and a drink, so we grabbed a bag and asked for a Starry. AFTER we paid, the guy told us it only came with a juice box and craisins and took back the cup and threw it away. I did not give back the chips. The photo of the kids meal specifically shows chips and a soda. I made sure I got my receipt because of how chaotic things were, and when I stepped out of the way to wait for the order, I realized he had not excluded tomatoes or onions on any of the meals and had actually put in the wagyu cheese steak instead of the normal wagyu roast beef. I showed this to the lady bagging the orders and she corrected the sandwich makers, so my sandwich was correct when it came out. I don't know if there is a price difference between these two sandwiches, but I wasn't offered a refund or free drinks/chips/cookies, etc. The kicker is I had our exact order in writing and gave it to the cashier, so there was no reason he should have gotten confused. I am sure he is just not familiar enough with the system or menu, which caused the errors. I'm sure these are things that will be corrected with a little more time, but for now, be very careful. I paid $55 (no tip, thank goodness) for four delicious sandwiches but with an incorrect order and a 30-minute wait. read more

FOOD - My Grilled Italian and my wife's Bobbie were very good, as good or better than most other local sandwich options (and there are very good ones in the area). FIVE STARS EXPERIENCE - A name like Capriotti's sounds like a friendly neighborhood style sandwich shop. The facility is about as corporate as you can get. As others have described, you will wait, and you'll probably sit at one of the few tables while you do. Even if you were lucky enough to get a table, eating inside would not be fun. The sizes are deceiving. We ordered "Halfs" for each sandwich, which we thought would be half of one of the bread loaves on the racks. My wife noticed the sizing display off to the side just after I ordered. The "Half" is only 5" long - it's actually a quarter of a loaf. "Kid Size" would be a better description. I asked to change them to Smalls, and the young lady was hesitant, then said that the Smalls really weren't that much bigger than the Halfs (they're 7" long). So I said to make them Mediums (10") and she got kind of nervous and said it was too late to change, the orders had gone through. I stood there and stared for a moment and she said, "You can just order two more Halfs and that's the same as a Medium." It didn't occur to her that that way would cost an additional $6. I said why can't you just change the order and charge me the difference? She was flustered, and asked one of the other ladies (they're all kids, actually) for help. The other lady sauntered over, stared at the ordering tablet, then sauntered slowly to the very back of the kitchen. There was a growing line of customers behind me. Finally an adult came up, a very pleasant woman who was apparently the manager on duty, and said no problem and she made the adjustment. From there it was about 20 minutes to get the two hot sandwiches. I imagined that this woman's job managing these kids must be a nightmare, but she was very cool and friendly dealing with us. Capriottis GOOD I am a Philly native and grew up on hoagies and cheesesteaks. I've been all over the world in search of "a taste of home" but had no luck. Until now. This place is probably the closest I'll ever get to home. The bread and the fact that they have SWEET PEPPERS.... BAD The time it takes them to make your food is abysmal. On average, 30 minutes to get your food. I've been there 3 times since it opened at its always the same. You cannot be in customer service and forget about the service part. UGLY On 26 APR 24 I decided to take my mom out there to get a sandwich. We were in Decatur and I placed our order. It took us 30 minutes to get there. The food should have been done, but they told me another 15 minutes. I went back to my truck and came back 20 minutes later. It still was not ready. I waited another 10 minutes; a whole hour after I ordered the food. To add insult to injury, neither sandwich was what we ordered. It was completely wrong, but after an hour, what was I supposed to do? Send it back and wait another hour? I could tell they had zero ability to prioritize orders. Ppl were given their food that ordered after my online order was placed. That's not customer service. While the sandwich (when made right) taste bomb, it'll be hard for you to get to that point because you will wait forever. read more

So, in full transparency, we decided to try Capriotti's because my work group loves Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches, and we wanted to try the "new place" by our office. We originally weren't going to go because the sandwich prices are pretty high (online) for a "brand new" restaurant that we haven't ever tried (in this area). However, upon visiting the Capriotti's website, there was a "pop up" that offered a free 8" sub with a purchase if you sign up for texts. So, we decided to try Capriotti's. That being said, each of the members of our lunch group usually spends about $15 for a sandwich, fries & a soft drink whenever we go out for lunch. If you throw in a cookie, then it's usually about $17 each. Based on our "traditional lunch order", we would have each spent between $22.76 (without a cookie) and $24.69 (with a cookie) at Capriotti's before being guilted into a tip - per the Capriotti's online ordering. I'm sorry, but these price comparisons represent a 66 - 69% INCREASE over our usual Philly Cheesesteak place. I will admit that the Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches at Capriotti's were "potentially better" than the ones we order at our traditional sandwich shop, but NOT by much. However, they were definitely NOT 66-69% better. So, if Capriotti's wants to thrive in Madison, AL...I highly suggest that they reduce the cost of their menu items. It is shocking that they have an exhaustive list of combo and "add-on" options, but there IS NOT A SINGLE "drink and fries" combo with a discount offered. In addition, I need to note that one of the employees was PHENOMENAL; however, the rest of the staff didn't even look at us. If it wasn't for the one outstanding employee, I would have probably spent a full 3 paragraphs discussing bad service. But, she was so sweet and attentive. I suspect that this is probably her first job because she seemed young, but her eagerness to help made the dine-in experience into a favorable one. Lastly, the seating inside Capriotti's is pretty limited. There is also outdoor seating - both a shaded area and unshaded area. However, given the summer heat that we're experiencing, Capriotti's would be better off enclosing the shaded area because it was unbearable. So, if you feel like a better than average sandwich at a higher than average price, then give Capriotti's a shot (with the "free 8" sub"). But, I'm afraid that you'll probably only go back if they reduce their menu prices. And - I never saw the "Clift's Farm surcharge" ... so did they eat that cost - or did they simply raise their prices and forget to tell us that we were paying it? read more

Wow! Really good sandwiches! I was there the first day and have been back 2 more times. I had a different sandwich each time; the grilled Italian, the wagu beef and the chicken chipotle ranch. All delicious! My wife has had the Bobbie every visit. My only complaint is the fact that the person at the counter calls out "TIP MONEY" and the workers in the back respond "THANK YOU" anytime someone leaves a tip. The service was fast l. The staff were friendly. I ordered the waygu philly cheese steak. I would recommend just ordering the regular cheese steak. The meat is cooked beyond well done, and the amount of cheese smothers any benefit a higher quality of meat might offer. read more

I have tried Capriotti's at least 4 or 5 times, 4 of the 5 times has been good. We have tried the Classic cheesesteak and the Italian sandwich. Both good but can be dry. Make sure to request any sauces that you need. The service is a bit slow. I know they are still fairly new and working out some kinks, since I enjoy the food, I lm trying to grant grace. The building itself is small but works if you order and get it to go. Again, you might wait a bit. Our first time there we waited 35 mins for 2 sandwiches and some fries. All in all I think it's worth trying. read more
