OH MY Freaking Goodness. This spot was spot on. Did a pickup order. You really get your monies worth here. The Cap't Loui sauce is different from others. It has a nice hint of sweetness to it. It did complement the meal. I got lobster, mussels, clams, and shrimps (head off). Everything was blessed by the sauce, every bite was very flavorful. You know the fish is good when it's listed as MP for the prices. That's my experience. One of the stars on their menu is that funnel cake sticks. Wish they gave me more. I would suggest that for takeouts you provide the chocolate sauce on the side, and just add the powdered sugar to the sticks. This way that chocolate doesn't drench the sticks. But that didn't take away from the goodness of them. If you order $25 or more they hook you up with some free garlic noodles. I must say that they were perfectly cooked, right amount of garlic on them. Imagine cheesy garlic bread meets noodles. So good, I actually ate that before tearing up the rest of the meal. 1st seafood boil in Montclair. I've been to several seafood boils in the surrounding towns and city island. This is the BEST! From the outside it looks small but once you enter, it's a large well decorated space. I had many questions for Jack ( our server) he patiently answered each one and gave great recommendations. One seafood boil, with their hot signature sauce. Large crab legs and shrimp. Their sauce is flavorful, not salty or oily. Jack recommend pairing garlic noodles with the sauce. Large portion of Garlic noodles tossed in fresh chopped garlic were great alone. Noodles with the sauce., Addictive! Cod and shrimp seafood was a beautiful golden brown. The batter didn't flake away from the seafood after several bites. It was delightful. I'm so happy that this spot has regained life. Loved our experience---my wife had a hankering for Cajun seafood boil one night and so we were delighted to find this restaurant close by in Montclair. We came in and it was great! The staff was friendly and professional, the food came quick, and the food was delicious! We ordered clam chowder, a dozen oysters from the raw bar (accompanied by horseradish and cocktail sauce yum), a side of garlic noodles, and a boiler of shrimp and clams with their Cap't Loui (Cajun) sauce, spice level HOT, and the free addition of sausage along with the corn and potatoes that come with it. All in all, the food was delicious---the boil was exquisite with the clams and shrimp fresh and a good size, the Cajun sauce full-flavored, the hotness indeed hot, and the corn/potatoes/sauce a plenty. I stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch. I was seated fairly quickly. I got the boiler bag with 1/2 pound snow crab. It comes with a potato and a corn. I added sausage as an extra add-on. I got it in cap't loui Sauce, which is a Cajun sauce. It was definitely different from other Cajun sauces I've had. It had a little mix of sweetness with spice. The beignets were a great sweet treat to have after my boiler bag. They give them for free when you leave a review. I was gonna do a review regardless, but I think it's a nice incentive for those who don't normally do that. The adult size caprisun drinks were cool, but I'm sure it would be great if it was a cocktail. There's no alcohol at this establishment, but it is byob. They have a QR code that allows you to get free delivery of alcohol from a nearby liquor store. My server was Teddy, and he was very nice and very helpful. This is a smaller space so I wouldn't go with a huge party. It's located across from a parking deck that allows parking for those without a permit only on level 3. I parked on a nearby street and had to pay the meter, so be mindful of that if you're going before 6 pm. Overall, I enjoyed the experience. read more

Went on a Thursday evening. This place looks like a cute crab shack. We got seated right away and our server was super sweet. He answered all of my questions and was very attentive. The seafood boil has that Asian spice (solid kick). They also give you a bib and gloves. I got the fried shrimp and it was good! Nothing was too oily or fried. Exactly what I expected from a seafood shack. The vibes were great and they played 90s bops most of the night. I would come back here. I came with my sister on a whim and we don't regret it! We split a boil and got a pound of crab legs, 1/2 of muscles and 1/2 of clams.. We got garlic noodles as a side FOR FREE because we had 2 lbs of food! We did mild heat for the Cap't Loui sauce. I also got strawberry lemonade to drink and it was really good :). Came here during the grand reopening. The staff was so nice and service was top notch. They constantly came by to check if we needed anything. They had dollar oyster deals that night and they were super fresh. We got to try clam chowder two ways and soooo good. We ordered a bag with snow crab legs, clams, shrimp and crawfish and it was AMAZINg. I think we got medium spicy, which was pretty hot. Next time might go with the mild. I must say my whole pregnancy I was craving seafood. Now that I am not, I needed the best seafood place. My husband and I came across Cap't Loui and figured we would give it a try since the reviews were amazing. Michael our server went over the menu and explained everything in detail since this was our first time. We decided on boilers. I got the one pound of shrimp which comes with potato and corn. My husband got lobster and shrimp which came with extra potatoes corn and a free side so he got the garlic pasta. The garlic pasta was DELISIOUS. The boilers were also really tasty and fresh. The sauce I picked was Cap't loui sauce and it was so good. My husband got the lemon pepper sauce which was good as well but I highly recommend the Cap't loui sauce if you want powerful flavor that's not crazy spicy. I must say this was the best seafood I ever had and extremely happy with the experience. We of course had to save room the their dessert which I wouldn't expect to be so good since we are at a seafood place but GET IT. Wow they were worth being stuffed!! Came here for the seafood boil and happy hour oysters and left satisfied and with enough leftovers for a second meal. Happy hour oysters were blue points--fresh, well-shucked, and not puny at all. We also got the boil with spicy capt loui sauce, shrimp, clams, calamarix2, and free lobster along with added on sausage and garlic noodles. I appreciated our server kind of subtly warning us that this might be too much food for 2 (it was, lol). The spice level does feel kind of spicy in the beginning, but by the end it wasn't so bad. The sauce was very very salty and I do wish it penetrated some things like the lobster and shrimp better, but it was great as a dip too. I'm pretty sure we ordered head off shrimp and got head on. We did wish that it was served on a tray like some places we've been to before, so it would've been easier to eat and everything would've been equally saturated in sauce, but I understand that the bag is pretty standard and easier for staff to deal with. Overall, I would definitely come back for the oyster happy hour, and maybe the boil if we're in the mood.
