Eh. Best part of the restaurant is the decor. Very modern and hip. As someone mentioned looks like this in lace belongs in Vegas. Food was the problem. Most of the appetizers were overly sauced and too sweet. Maybe Morimoto is catering to western tastes that prefers stronger sweeter flavors but in general you couldn't really taste the freshness of the fish or the richness of the wagyu. Steaks were just okay. Nothing to write home about. Got the Tomahawk, Porterhouse, and prime rib. It was just okay. No huge complaints nor compliments. Just average. Desserts were another major disappointment. We ordered every item. You know it's not great when everyone's favorite dessert was the vanilla ice cream which was clearly just store bought vanilla ice cream . Service was inconsistent. They were too concerned about clearing the table to the point they kept coming and trying to clear the table while we were eating. Then they would continue to bother us trying to take our dishes away. Relax! It wasn't like the restaurant was so full they had to clear our table for the next diners. Anyway a very disappointing experience overall.

Everything about our first dating experience here was amazing. This review was from last September so apologies for the delay. Wish I had taken more photos. I am still processing how beautiful everything was there did appear to be more service people training, but that was fine. They were all eager to help and describe anything about the dishes, as well as ensure that we were having a wonderful time. We ordered some of the beautiful steak which was prepared amazingly and they had a few different sauces of which we actually enjoyed their Morimoto steak sauce. We ordered Wagyu beef, beef tartar, Toro tar and assorted maki rolls. The cocktails were delicious as were more Moto's signature bottle sparkling wine. We haven't had time to return, but very much look forward to trying their brunch, which I believe started in the spring of this year. And the Omakase for another special occasion.

What a fun birthday dinner! There is a parking lot directly across so parking was easy! The restaurant is very cute with dim lightening. The dining room is very large and there is bar right in front of you need to wait for your party! Really enjoyed the cute drinks. Food was really good and overall service was fast. They also had a cutest birthday dessert at the end. We also ended up getting the tiramisu and it was huge! It was more creamy than a usual tiramisu! I wish we could have finished it but it was such a large portion! Take it to go!

Finally was able to get around to trying Chef Morimoto's New Jersey venture. On arrival, We did have a reservation and we were seated immediately upon arrival. The Space: gorgeous space inside. Very modern looking, clean and inviting space. Service: excellent service, from the front of house, to our server, to all the other staff, everyone was attentive and knew the dishes inside and out. Drinks: I had the Tokyo smoke, which was a solid Smokey whiskey sour, was very delicious. My wife had the sake verra matcha, which she also loved it was like a refreshing take on an espresso martini with matcha instead. Would definitely recommend. Food: Toro tartare - small starter, excellent taste, the dashi it was sitting in was very delicious, really enjoyed the crunch with the caviar. Overall solid dish Surf and turf roll: really delicious roll, they blowtorch the roll in front of you. Has so much flavor and the meat just melts in your mouth. Main dish: my wife and I opted for the special Which was a marinated coulotte cut of beef, cooked to perfection, was the perfect mix of sweet and savory, the pickled ginger and wasabi added such a great element to the dish. Sides: if my mother made broccoli like this, I probably would not have been so picky growing up, would absolutely recommend. And I cannot say enough about the 100 layer potato gratin, must try. Dessert: we tried the tiramisu, unfortunately I think this is skippable. Not enough coffee flavor, just have had better. Overall great experience, it is definitely on the expensive side, the food and service were great, cannot say that I would do the tiramisu again though. Otherwise, would recommend for a special event or special dinner for sure!

Space is pretty expansive with private rooms, bar, booth and table seating. The booths along the back wall are against a large screen which could be a bit of sensory overload for those facing it. Other than that everything was really comfortable and music and overall ambience was enjoyable and allowed for conversation. Staff was helpful and friendly while also not making us feel rushed to order. We had a round of drinks 2 apps and entrees. Their take on the Negroni was really refreshing, strong but not in a way that overpowered the drink. Tuna pizza (5/5) I really enjoyed the thin wafer they used and topped with ample tuna and fresh garnish and jalapeños for a nice kick Soft shell crab roll (4/5) it was yummy morning spectacular in terms of value/price but executed well Black cod (5/5) really outstanding, flaking off at the touch of the fork, great caramelization and seasoning without being too much tender deliciousness! MORE PLEASE! Parking is a valet, a paid lot across the street or street parking. I would probably reserve this spot for a special occasion vs just a regular night out but appreciated feeling like we were somewhere else for a bit. They did a nice job of making it feel like you stepped into a new and sophisticated space without being pretentious.

Valet parking, street parking or there's garage parking across the street. The spot is a vibe, from the ceiling lights to the TV screen illustrations-- it set the mood. I came here with four other girlfriends, we reserved three weeks ago. I started with the Sake Verra Matcha cocktail, I loved tasting the sake and get the after taste of matcha. We started with the Wagyu wontons, sticky ribs and the tuna pizza. I must say the Wagyu was a little salty for me and I usually love Wagyu. The sticky ribs were so flavorful and tender -- they were my favorite starter. The tuna pizza was light and tasted so fresh and refreshing. We then ordered two MM rolls and each chose our own roll to do family style with. Everything tasted delicious and fresh. The prawn head from the MM rolls were crispy but the prawn's maxillipeds were a little spiky (be careful if you eat, I cut my lip a little) I did enjoy every roll -- we ordered the yellowtail, eel avocado , salmon avocado, negitoro, and the tuna avocado. Enjoyed all of them! The best but also not so best part was dessert. I absolutely love the tiramisu. The tiramisu tasted like it was soaked in a brandy and or amaretto liquor. I didn't taste the espresso flavor I usually enjoy but I absolutely think this is the best tiramisu I have ever tasted! It was so light but it was hitting the spot. The not so best part of dessert was the apple pie, I was actually looking forward to a mochi style dessert and confused about the apple pie because it was dry. Overall, I loved the experience and the delicious food. The staff seemed friendly, very to themselves though I know it was a busy night.

Here's the deal! Wonderful service & atmosphere! The Japanese steakhouse & sushi menu has a lot of inventive dishes that don't disappoint! This is ideal for a fancy date night or special celebration There is pay valet parking or a garage across from the restaurant

Wow this place is top notch . Came here twice so far. 1st time we had reservations and sat at a table and 2nd time we sat at the bar for drinks . Service was great both times. Cocktails are delicious . My favorite is the Kofi martini . We had the Miso soup ... so fresh and yummy The sticky ribs are a MUST! YUM The corn tempura was pretty good The Surf and Turf roll is $45 but AMAZING We also had the 10oz marinated skirt steak with the truffle cheesy potato as a side which was DELISH Will definitely come back This place has a vibe Parking deck across the street Hopefully I will be able to snag a seating next door at the $300 pp omakase one day Cheers

Here's a more coherent and concise version: **Revised Review:** MM is trendy and feels more suited for cocktails and a light bite than an intimate dinner. The décor and ambiance come off a bit sterile, but the food was great--especially the oysters and salmon appetizers. Service was attentive, and the staff was friendly and helpful, even answering questions about the dessert.

Phenomenal meal and service! Ambiance was great, Ill probably be talking about this meal for weeks after this. Our server was Jay, she was so sweet and accommodating, I have a sesame allergy (which could be super difficult with asian cuisine) and she was helpful and provided me with a bunch sesame free meal options on a hand written notecard. Overall great experience! If you end up dining here make sure to get the surf and turf, it was honestly so amazing.

A trendy spot that was bustling even on a weekday night! I would recommend ordering beyond the rolls, as there is even a whole back section of the menu dedicated to Wagyu dishes. There's a good mix of modern, interesting dishes like Tuna Pizza but personally weren't anything outstanding in terms of flavor or presentation. The cocktail menu was fun with lots of creative drinks to try - including low ABV and mocktails. Perhaps because the establishment is fairly new, the waitstaff were young and also new. Expect to order all your food at once - the food portions are generally small so your server may recommend you to order many dishes; we got 8 dishes for 5 people. But the waitstaff is very attentive - they would come by every 15-20 minutes, which is surprising for a very busy, popular spot.

I've been to MM by Morimoto about five or six times now, and every single visit has been stellar. From the moment you walk through the doors, you can feel the thought and precision that went into creating this space. It's elegant without being pretentious, modern yet warm. What truly sets MM apart is the service. Every experience feels personal. The staff remembers your name, your preferences, and genuinely makes you feel like a valued guest, not just another table. The owner himself is often present, greeting guests with a smile, checking in on tables, and creating this wonderful sense of connection and hospitality that's increasingly rare these days. And then there's Chef Morimoto - yes, the Iron Chef himself. During the first few weeks after the restaurant launched, he made several appearances, greeting guests, watching the kitchen flow, and ensuring everything was executed with precision. You could see his signature attention to detail in everything from the plating to the pacing to the music and lighting. His influence is felt in every bite. The food? Simply unmatched. Every dish is crafted with care, creativity, and respect for the ingredients. The sushi melts in your mouth, the flavors are balanced and bright, and the presentations are nothing short of art. It's one of those rare spots where every visit feels like the first - exciting, satisfying, and worth every penny. If you're looking for a dining experience that's consistently exceptional, beautifully executed, and infused with genuine hospitality, MM by Morimoto is it.

We were able to be seated right away and the person who greeted us was incredibly kind to us. The restaurant is fairly spacious. They have lots of tables and some booths. As we were looking through their very large menu to the side, what to order, the waiter brought an appetizer on the house, which I believe was some kind of tempura fish, which was pretty good! We ordered four rolls and one miso soup. I do have to say that other places give you the miso soup when you order more than one roll, so it was different that we had to order it separately and pay for it separately, but I understand that restaurants are different. We got the Montclair, the Caldwell, the salmon avocado, and their Hawaiian roll. The one that truly stood out to me was the Hawaiian roll, it had kiwi and mango on top which made for a delicious combination and very refreshing. The other three rolls were OK, nothing outstanding. That miso was a bit sweet, which was different for me. At the end of our meal, they gave us orange slices and they were actually delicious! It was a cute surprise and truly showed the vibe of the people who run this place. Overall, the bill came around $50ish which was incredibly cheap for all four rolls and the soup. I definitely would come here again to get the Hawaiian roll and maybe try out some other stuff!
