I love coming here for their pancakes with the blueberry sauce. It's one of my favorite things to get for breakfast when I'm eating out. With that said, the size of their pancakes has drastically decreased. My mom and I used to split them, and this time I barely got full off the full portion. I also really wish that they'd filter their tap water. It always smells bad and tastes bad. I also get their turmeric latte which is absolutely delicious, but this last time was watered down. They have a decent menu and are usually crowded. I came here on a Monday around 1pm and was sat right away but there were only a few tables available. My waiter was friendly and accommodating. Overall, this last experience was just slightly above average.

In a world this place was magical. I got the Matzah ball soup for my appetizer, and it as pretty good. For my main course, I got an egg, bacon, and pancakes w/ salted butter and blueberry sauce. My friend also got fries, which I tried some of. They're thin and salted well, overall really good. The pancakes, however, were absolutely heavenly. They were perfectly fluffy and perfectly sweet on their own. The butter was perfectly salted, and the blueberry sauce was amazing. The meal was a delight and I enjoyed every bit of it. The ambiance was nice too, it felt retro and modern with nice booths and nice tables. The menu is digital only, but that's not a very big problem. The service was mostly nothing to write home about. It wasn't amazing, just regular. The waitress we had also left after we said we were ready to eat (she likely misheard), but the service overall is fine.

My vegetarian days might be well behind me, but I've got to pour out some love for the veggie burger at Raymond's. Every time I order it, I'm freshly in awe of how picturesque this burger is with its towering top bun atop an unimaginably crisped crust. I've found a lot of veggie burgers to suffer in taste and texture (I can't tell you how many have just deteriorated in my hands), but the good people at Raymond's know how to take care of their plant eaters. The accompanying fries are the skinny kind. While they're not my favorite type (mainly because it feels like I have to eat five to eight at a time to feel like I'm tasting the potato) and smaller in serving size, I appreciated that they were decently hot and well seasoned. It wouldn't be a diner if they didn't serve breakfast all day, and my breakfast fiend of a husband was positively gleeful over his omelette (all whites can be done upon request). He was even happier with the side serving of salad, which was far from the sad and wilted greens that typically compose a side salad. Instead, this was a robust helping of fresh greens, pepper slices, cherry tomatoes, and cucumbers that took up a whole half of his large plate. Service is warm, prompt, and faultless - exactly what you'd want from a quintessential diner experience. And while the decor doesn't add or detract from the good, I also adore the colored bottle displays that I've found are signature of all Raymond's diners (for those who care about such things, it makes for a highly Instagrammable backdrop).

Our family's favorite brunch/breakfast place. Whenever we're in New Jersey visiting family this is our go to place. Service is always very fast. Food is absolutely delicious. Beautiful art deco interior creates a delightful atmosphere for diners. First come first serve basis only. But do not be discouraged by the long lines. Service is very quick.

Food was extremely tasty. My mother couldn't stop munching and ate her whole sandwich, she usually takes half home! The avocado toast also phenomenal with the poached egg to top it off, the bread was crusty and so good! The waitress was quick and efficient while handling multiple tables. The outside seating was pleasant.

Popped in on a weekend and it was quite busy! It has casual diner vibes. The space can be crammed with the amount of people. The service and food were good. Descriptions on the menu would be helpful for guests. My salad and fries were super fresh. Our group enjoyed the meal overall

One of my favorite places for brunch/lunch - basically this place is a high end diner but with a more modern vibe to it than your old school classic diner. I got an omelet and wings and shared it with my friends and both were incredible. Value for what you get is great too.....highly recommend for anyone looking for a solid brunch/lunch bite.

Been there many times in the past years, always great service, food on point and the ambience outside for the summer is the best part! This time I tried the raspberry soda and 4 cheese sandwich. Everything great as always.

Came here for a spontaneous anniversary lunch. It's BYOB, which is great because there's a cute Artesian Wine Store need door! We sat and then I ran over to grab a few libations. For our meals hubby had the Cobb Salad Dinner and a soup. I tried his salad and it was delicious. The onions were fried to perfection! For myself, I ordered the Belgian waffle with fruit, and the avocado toast. Both were so good! The waffle was hearty and not at all dry. The toast was a tad burnt underneath; but perfectly seasoned and topped with pickled radish, sunflower seeds and a poached egg. I ate every bite! The server was attentive and kind. Such a great experience. We will definitely return, when in the area!

Found this place thanks to a friend from NJ that recommended it. This is a really cute diner with great food. The space is cozy, has lots of seating, and in a great area for walking around after your meal. We came before lunch started and it wasn't packed, but more people started coming in as time passed. It clearly is a go to place for a lot of people because it ended up being decently busy. The food came out quick and was very tasty! I got the eggs Benedict with potatoes and a cafe latte. Staff were nice and friendly. If I'm in the area again I would definitely come back here.

Came here for brunch on a Sunday. It was super packed and couldn't find the waitress to give our names but when she came she took names down from another group that came in after us. Then they sat us in a small corner table in between two large tables so we had to ask the table to get up so we could use the rest room. Plus it's super loud in there. Service was very slow they probably were under staffed. Food was ok nothing special. Probably won't go back.

I saw the low rating for Raymond's on Yelp and asked if we could switch locations. The company we were with insisted the food is good so we kept our reservations. The restaurant has a BYOB policy, which can be fun if you are eating with friends. The food was good and all plates and silverware were clean! Service was very fast and the atmosphere was pleasant...minus our table atmosphere. We ordered a kid's plate of grilled chicken and mashed potatoes for our toddlers. We also ordered calamari and fish tacos. The calamari was a 5 out of 5 stars. It was delicious, had the perfect crunch and even the hot peppers were deep fried as well! The fish tacos I thought were chicken tacos...so not the best. The fish was overcooked and had a rubbery texture. All in all I would definitely come back here with friends or family. The only problem I had at this restaurant was the people we were sitting with at the table. If they were gone, we would have had a fabulous time :)

    Nearby shopping bakery?

there are plenty of shops and stores in this active downtown area.

Yes it is. It’s also a 2 minute walk to Montclair Wine Cellar which gives a 10% discount if you check in there on Yelp!

    What time is brunch?

Hi Ana. Brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am until 4pm.

Does this location have a changing table in bathroom? Men's or women's?

I did not see one in the women's room.

Can you order the chicken and waffles all the time?

Do you guys take reservations for brunch?

We had a large party and were unable to make a reservation. However, one person got there earlier than everyone. He let them know how many of us were coming, and the staff had everything ready for us by the time we got there- about 10 mins after.

How many calories in the French toast?

It's French toast..... If you're that concerned, pick something else.... Life is full of choices, live dangerously and eat it....

Do you make egg salad? Our birthday girl loves good egg salad.

Thanks for asking, John. We may serve egg salad from time to time as a special, but it’s not in our menu right now.

    Do you serve mimosas?

Sorry Lory, we don't have a liquor license. We do have the orange juice, and you are welcome to bring your own champagne!

This one pound mozzarella stick definitely fulfilled that criteria. It was so gigantic it was almost like getting a workout in just to lift it. The outside was heavily breaded with bread crumbs and the top was sprinkled with parmesan cheese and chopped scallions. Even the dipping cup was supersized to accommodate the diameter of the stick! Typically, I would have posted until after my I finished my oversized food compilation project. However, it's being posted early because The Brookdale is permanently closing its doors. It's already a bit inconvenient to come up with a dish on the spot, but to go the extra mile by caring that it would be satisfying as a main dish was really very kind. And it turned out fantastic. This restaurant has so much going for it in the quality of its ingredients and dish compositions. I would encourage the chef to consider how the can apply their creativity to a dedicated vegan dish as well.
