Sorry if I got carried away, but the food was too good to photograph. By the time I realized I had not taken a picture of the well made and flavorful dishes, everything was already gone. Word of advice, try to visit during the week and go early if you can, or make a reservation. They do accept walk ins, but it gets crowded very fast. My mom and I met up for a full seafood feast and got there around 1pm. At that time it was pretty quiet, mostly people having lunch. The food came out in about 15 to 20 minutes, hot and perfectly cooked. The waitress was incredibly sweet and very helpful. The menu is solid. They offer combos if you do not want to build your own bag, and many of those come with one to three free sides. Most seafood is sold by the pound, including shrimp with or without heads and a variety of crab legs. They also have lunch specials and soup. And just to be clear, the portions here are generous. The drink menu is pretty standard, but I did notice some colorful drinks served in pouches. They also offer beer, wine by the glass or bottle, and soda. No dessert options if that matters to you. The space itself is big, open, and very clean, with both a lower level and an upstairs dining area. Overall, everything about this place was great. If you are craving good seafood and attentive service, this is definitely worth a visit.

Cap't Loui is a great spot if you're craving a seafood boil. Oysters were fresh and large. Fish and chips were solid, especially the cajun fries. The seafood boil was the main event. We ordered 4 lbs and still had leftovers. Snow crab, ugly crab, head-on shrimp, and mussels were my favorites. Being able to order seafood by half pound makes it easy to try a few things. The Cap't Loui sauce is really good -- even the mild version has a lot of flavor. Dessert portions are huge. The beignet and funnel cake fries both come with ice cream, so sharing is a good idea. Lots of seating and great for groups. Expect to get messy.

My friend and I have been craving a seafood boil, so we made a reservation for a Saturday night a few days ahead. Thank goodness we did, when I checked in for the reservation the hostess was telling walk ins the wait was roughly an hour since they were completely booked. The menu states two different seasonings- lemon pepper and Cap't Loui Cajun seasoning, but they actually offer garlic butter too for those that can't handle spicy. I got the whole crab with half lb shrimp with Cap't loui seasoning spicy added extra side of potato and corn and sweet potato fries. Split between two this was the perfect amount for my friend and I. The spicy was a really good flavor until the end of the bag which is when it burned for me. Too bad the combo deal for the free sides is only if it's one bag. Little bit of a bummer since otherwise we did order 2lbs just one of us couldn't handle any spice. The crab was steaming hot and so delicious, easy enough to take apart but we did have to ask to crackers. I definitely will be coming back when I need my fix again.

Had a really good time at Cap't Loui. The seafood was fresh, flavorful, and came out hot. The seasoning had a nice kick without overpowering everything, and the sauce was definitely the highlight. The shrimp and crab were cooked well, and the portions were solid. The vibe was casual and fun, perfect for a seafood craving. I'd definitely come back. Service quick and easy

Wow! Great location in the heart of Korean Town on W. 32nd St betw Bway / 5th near all transportation: Trains, D, N, R, Q, Path trains, then 2 blocks over near A, E , C - #2, 3 trains exit on 34th St / Herald Square. Ok, it's a Seafood Boil: , , , & Fisherman's Combo w/ seasoned fries or lemon pepper noodles etc. Delicious! Price is affordable, u get a lot for ur money & spacious dining in most seats, but if u choose the booth like we did & u have a bit of a tummy like my friend it may be a bit snug. Lol However, it was our 1st time there, so we made the best of it. Our waitress kinda abandoned us & we had to look for her several times. Even other waiters assisted us; not fair bc later she got the tip for doing nothing she had a bit of an attitude. Valentine's Day was the next day so idk ‍ if she got dumped by her boyfriend, but why take it out on us. We repeatedly said it's our 1st time you'd think she would want us to return. She didn't even say thanks for coming when we left other waiters did. Her behavior was odd for a waitress. So, they lost 1 point bc of her attitude & abandonment. If not I'd given them 5 star . If ur allergic, like me bring ur EpiPen bc she said they do cross contaminate & can't guarantee anything. I ran to Korean market next door for Benadryl just in case. Ohhh ohh, if u have a large group of like 15 + ppl u can book the upstairs but u must give them notice. So, if u have like a birthday , or anniversary party etc have @ it. Good food, & clean venue. Ok, other than that I recommend this spot!

The chain kicked off in Massachusetts in 2016 now with over 20 locations across the US. We got a seafood boil with snow crab legs, shrimp, clams and mussels with the cap't loui sauce. Easily my favorite seafood boil I've ever had.

I came here after lunch plans next door failed. I'm glad this was still offering the lunch special even though it was close to 3pm (the lunch special is available weekdays until 3pm). I got the Seafood Boiler lunch with includes 2 seafoods, 1 side, 1 sauce and you can choose your spice level. I got clams and crawfish with garlic noodles, the capt loui sauce and mild spice. They provide you with gloves and an apron so you can feel confident digging in without being too messy. There are also sinks by the bathroom with lotion and hair ties, which is quite thoughtful. Not sure what I was expecting with the garlic noodles - maybe more Asian style noodles - but it was basically spaghetti with butter and garlic powder .There was a good amount of seafood for the price. I also got the funnel cake fries, but wished I got the beignets. The fries were very oily - but I guess the beignets could possibly be the same. Upon entering, there's a big lobby area with a bench against the window. There are cartoon depictions of various seafood items on the wall which was very cute. It felt they were a bit understaffed as they took a while to get through seating all the customers - all one by one even though the interior had plenty of empty seats.

Love their lunch special, lobster roll w/ soda $20. Great fast lunch service, in Korea-town.

Delicious seafood boil in ktown. Their Cap Loui sauce is one of the best. Heaps of garlic yet not too much overpowering. Seafood is fresh and well seasoned. If you order 4lbs, you will get unlimited garlic noodles too. Service is quick and efficient. It is conveniently located in ktown, easily accessible. The vibe is great with relaxed decoration and music.

Came in with a big group wanting to get away from the crowds. We made a reservation and they quickly got us seated. We took a long time to decide what we wanted but the waiters were very helpful in leading us to the right direction! We ended up with 6lbs of food!! Everything tastes AMAZING! The shrimp was SPECTACULAR. And the spicy flavor was *chefs kiss* The bill was hefty, but expected for NYC and Seafood. Highly recommend!

Been wanting to try out cap't Loui for a long time and I think I finally decided on the wrong location. Not because the service or food was bad, but because this location didn't offer the full experience and the prices were high. And yes, I know it's the city but $31.50 for ONE cluster of crab legs is ridiculous! (Yes, I bought it, so it's not that I can't afford it, but yeah, that's a high price point). Also, I asked for extra butter and was told it would be $5???? Had a friend in NY for the first time and was taking her sightseeing in Times Square, so I decided to take her for first seafood boil experience as well. We walked in Tuesday night around 10pm. Service: We were greeted by the two ladies at the front desk and directed towards the back where we were met and seated right away. Service was good, nothing over the top but quick and efficient. Orders came out promptly and we were checked on occasionally. Drinks: we had the Soju Strawberry and a Cap'risun Mango. I was disappointed to see that they didn't serve alcohol in the cap'risuns at this location. They only serve wines, beers, and juices. The flavor of the mango lemonade was good though. Food: my friend had the 1/2lb head on shrimp ($11.30) with broccoli ($5.95) as her boil and it came with 1 potato and 1 piece of corn. I had the 1/2lb crab legs ($31.50), 1/2lb mussels ($11.30), and sausage ($7.95) for my boil, it also came with 1 potato and 1 piece of corn. We both had the "Cap't Loui" sauce and she had medium spice level and I had hot. Hot was the perfect combo of spice and flavor. Flavor was good but my boil didn't have a lot of sauce, so I asked for extra butter and was told it would be $5! That's the price of a whole tub! Like, I know they aren't using real, compound butter lol come on. This is a huge location. They had good music playing. Love the hand wash station they have setup with things like floss, hand wipes, and hair ties (scrunchies)?! Wow, all the things you need to enjoy a proper boil!

Such a good and solid seafood boil spot and super convenient too! Everything tasted super fresh and the flavors were on point. Portions are pretty big as well. The lobster roll was also pretty good! The staff was friendly and everything came out fast and hot. The space is also good for big and small groups. Definitely would come back especially since it's in the heart of ktown!

Honestly one of the best boils I've ever had. I came here on a weekday absolutely starving, and Cap't Loui was able to seat us immediately. When you walk in there's a to-go counter, but ask the hostess for a seat and you'll be led back to a proper dining area. I wasn't sure if this spot served alcohol but they do have beer and wine. I ordered a Sapporo which was the perfect thing to wash down the spicy Cap't Loui sauce from my boil with. The ambiance is very casual here, chill boil spot for sure. I decided to do a pound of snow crab legs with clams and shrimp, and added garlic noodles as my side. I went with the medium Cap't Loui spicy sauce which was the exact right amount of heat. Everything in my boil was so delicious, fresh and flavorful. I'm honestly getting emotional writing about it. SO good. If you're craving seafood I would highly recommend coming here and doing this boil.

Seating inside, looks like there is also a second floor

If you're a huge Boiling Crab fan from the West Coast, then this will be your equivalent on the East Coast. You can't come to this place if you don't like seafood, don't even try. When I have a hankering for shrimp or crab (or crawfish if it's in season), you'll find me here happily sucking on some tasty critters slathered in the Boil Special sauce with just the right amount of heat and washing it down with an ice cold beer. My favorite combo is the Queen Combo which is either 1 pound of shrimp or crawfish with a cluster of snow crab legs. One of these days I'm going to splurge for the king crab legs but last time I went, they were sold out. Those suckers are huge! For your sides, make sure to get an order of the Cajun fries which you can use to dip in all that tasty sauce. I also get an order of the vermicelli noodles which I know is way too much food, but I don't care. I will literally use my hands and fingers to plop those noodles into the bag, and use my fork to twirl it on up into my mouth slathered in sauce. I'm at The Boil to be a glutton, not a saint. Please be warned that their sauce has so much garlic in it that you will be burping, sweating, and literally farting garlic for the next 24 hours. Would not advise this place as a first date, maybe not even a 5th or 10th but they gotta see that side of you eventually but do so at your own risk. It's funny I remember the original location on the LES years ago and it was always a long wait to get into. With this NOHO location there's more than enough space, and you can also make reservations ahead of time which I am a huge fan of. The only downside though is that it's cash only, but the other locations aren't. Oh and they have Happy Hour! Huzzah. From open to 6:30pm Monday through Friday you can get specials on raw oysters, clams, select beers, and $12 margaritas. Come hungry, leave garlicky.

From the moment I…read morewalked in, the room struck that elusive balance New York diners crave laid-back but buzzing, with a live band lending just enough rhythm to keep the energy lifted without overwhelming the table. The service matched the mood: polished, attentive, and genuinely warm, the kind that makes you feel like a regular on your first visit. The menu reads like a love letter to Creole indulgence, and I didn't hold back. The French toast arrived as a golden, impossibly soft, and rich with butter, dissolving on contact like a sweet airy cloud. It's the sort of dish that makes you briefly consider abandoning decorum and slipping into the kitchen to kiss the chef. Equally compelling were the grilled oysters and shrimp skewers, both deeply seasoned and cooked with precision. The oysters carried a smoky char that played beautifully against their natural brininess, while the shrimp snapped with freshness and spice. The crawfish Benedict followed suit, offering a clever twist on the classic: a perfectly poached egg perched atop a tender crawfish patty, all brought together by a hollandaise that felt distinctive without trying too hard silky, slightly tangy, and memorable. And then there are the mimosas; bright, balanced, and flowing freely thanks to a server who never let a glass sit empty for long. In a city overflowing with brunch contenders, this spot manages to stand out. It's confident without being flashy, indulgent without being excessive, and absolutely worth a visit.

Great Creole restaurant with an awesome vibe!…read more Came here on a weeknight. I made sure to make reservations ahead of time, since the restaurant tends to be busy. The place was crowded, but we got a table on the second floor right away. For appetizers, we ordered the Honey Chili Brussels Sprouts and the Cajun Shrimp Skewers. Both were delicious with a ton of flavor. 5/5 for appetizers. For my entree, I had the Cornmeal-crusted Black Sea Bass. It was also really good. The fish was seared perfectly, the vegetables and lemon butter sauce combined with it perfectly. 4.5/5 for entree. For dessert, we shared the Hummingbird cake. I enjoyed the cake filling, which was coffee flavor, more than the rest of the cake. 4/5 for dessert. I think next time I might order the Beignets or Bread Pudding. The atmosphere gets a 5/5 for me. And the service was very good. I think this is a great restaurant to experience the New Orleans vibe without leaving NYC.
