We went here for dessert after dinner. We didn't realize it was pretty much in the middle of GW. There were a ton of students in line. Immediately after going in, around 10 PM, we noticed that the cashier was asking someone behind us to lock the doors. However, online it said they close at 1. I asked if they're closing soon and she said "Technically we close at 1, but we are running out of cookies and I really need to go home". Not sure what that was about, so we certainly felt pretty rushed and a bit unwanted. I ordered two cookies and milk. Chocolate chip, double chocolate chip and whole milk. The milk came in a little bottle which isn't ideal for dipping of course. But when asked she poured the milk into a cup for me. I also want to note that it was extremely loud in there, especially upstairs. It almost sounded like a nightclub in there. The cookies were pretty good, but not the best I have had. I have been visiting and purchasing cookies and ice cream from Captain cookie since I first came across their store in the 2000 Penn building on GW campus in 2013, I make it a point to visit their store every time I have a medical appointment on campus. I have been using a wheelchair for the last 25 years. I am forever grateful that I live in a post ADA society. Yesterday, for the first time all year, I was on campus and I was shocked to see that the Captain Cookie location was closed. Eventually, as I exited the Western Market location, I saw a sandwich board declaring that Captain Cookie had moved right next door. After searching all around the entrance plaza area, I located a window with a Captain Cookie logo and a staircase leading to a door on the outside of what appeared to be the new store location. After being unable to find an accessible entrance, I called the 2000 Penn location and after confirming that they had moved, I asked if they had wheelchair access anymore. The person who answered the phone responded as though access were an afterthought, suggesting that I send a friend up the stairs to purchase my ice cream. Why on earth would any startup business choose to abandon their current, wheelchair accessible location in order to open an inaccessible venue in the same building? I am now unable to even visit the current Captain Cookie location at 2000 Penn Because of its current inaccessibility, I am providing a rating of Zero for this location read more
