We stopped in for some vegan ice cream. The shop was pretty busy when we arrived. The line was almost out the door. One thing I know for sure is that this brand is consistently good. Before visiting their brick and mortar locations, I discovered their pre-packaged ice cream at Whole Foods, and quickly became a fan. Since my discovery of the Van Leeuwen brand, the vegan ice cream has been good consistently. The regular ice cream is very good as well, especially the honeycomb flavor. For an occasional treat, the ice cream is worth the price. The ambiance is cute. The service is not bad at all. There are sidewalk cafe tables set up outside. I am not sure if the tables are shared by Van Leeuwen and Blank Street, are separate and/or public, but on the day that we visited, the tables were filthy. Apparently, some customers did not think it was appropriate to clear the tables after using it. My question was and is, who is responsible for clearing the tables, customers or staff?

Needed to satisfy our sweet tooth after a show around gtown so here we are. There were quite a bit of ppl when we got there, but moved pretty quickly. Opted in for Bigface Coffee Affogato and Sicilian Pistachio, both were delicious. Bonus point that they let me put my medium 2 scoops order in a large cup :)-- thank you!

It's one of the few places open late. The ice cream is rich, creamy, and full of flavor, with a great mix of classic and inventive options -- plus vegan choices if you want something dairy-free. Not much seating area, so it's more of a grab-and-go spot, which makes it perfect for strolling around Georgetown with a cone in hand. :)

I'm a huge fan of Van Leeuwen's, and it seems like me and everybody else have the same idea to get a sweet treat on a hot Sunday in Georgetown. I tried one of their seasonal flavors, the blue jasmine and passionfruit, which was a little intriguing at first, but I really enjoy the contrast of the tart passionfruit with the floral jasmine. That being said, I feel like the service at this establishment could've been much improved. While I acknowledge that they were likely understaffed, it seems like the workflow was kind of convoluted and at times all workers were scooping ice cream, and there was nobody to check people out, leading to further delays. I luckily wasn't in a rush, so I didn't mind waiting, but the family behind me was very impatient, and it was frustrating to see that there were a line of people holding their ice cream, simply waiting to pay. Of note, there are a few cute tables outside and a bench for seating, as well as a small bar and table inside for those who don't want to take their ice cream on the go.

Great ice cream with fun flavors AND waffle cones and bowls. This season's sour cherry and cream flavor lives rent free in my head! I wish the space allowed for better ease of use- three people at the counter while others are jumbled at the door. One server had a friendly countenance/smile. VL is our happy place, but doesn't feel as happy with straight faced workers. An off Tuesday, perhaps?

Great service and great environment overall. There is a decent amount of seating, so we sat and ate our ice cream for a while. Van Leeuwen is a DC classic for a reason.

Really solid ice cream place! Good location, good little treat while you're doing some shopping in Georgetown. They have lots of flavors, you'll find something you like. The scoops are LARGE. My friend and I were both going to get a scoop each, but they were really nice and recommended we get two scoops because it's cheaper than individually getting scoops. Nice of them to say! Make sure you walk while you eat, the ice cream is rich and heavy.

Busy establishment, delicious ice cream. Got a milkshake with the earl grey flavor ice cream. It was expensive, but absolutely scrumptious. It was clean, despite lots of foot traffic. Menu was easy to read.

Great little ice cream spot with some unique and tasty flavors. I came last night with a couple friends and there was a line out the door at 11pm. I tried a couple different flavors, and they were all really good. I got a scoop of the honeycomb in a cup, and it was the perfect amount for me. It is a little pricey, but well worth it for a sweet treat!

I have a little lactose intolerance, so I avoid milk as much as possible. However, this is one place I go when I am ready to cheer (once in a blue moon). Everything here is amazingly good, but I especially love the Affogato ice cream. The only thing better is an actual affogato at an Italian restaurant. This is worth trying if you are into ice cream (or even if you're not). The store is small, and there is very little seating available.

Delicious ice cream, so glad another location opened up in Gtown! It's a bit tucked away and easy to miss, it's right off of Wisconsin Ave with a few chairs for outdoor seating. There are about 15 flavors to choose from with a few seasonal flavors. I enjoyed a scoop of the new Ice Cream Cake flavor, which tastes like Oreo Party cake. Service was great and looking forward to coming back!

Brown Sugar Cookie Dough Brownie (5/5): Very creamy ice cream. Cookie dough pieces were amazing and actually tasted like real cookie dough instead of "ice cream cookie dough" (I liked how it had the grainy cookie dough texture). Pretty big scoop too! RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Need to get this again) 4 - Good (Would get this again) 3 - Ok (Might give this another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)

Dog friendly!

It's standard vanilla with toppings. I got Nutella and wife got butterfinger. It's hand scooped ice cream. And the toppings are generous. Service is ok. You don't get service with a smile. A short jaunt the hotel and squarely in downtown, it's an all things cobbler themed spot. Kids got Mac and cheese with meat, plus a mini cobbler, and my better half and I shared a "biscuit cobbler" - which was effectively a delicious biscuit over top a thick soup. It was solidly in the pretty good category. A little cold in the middle but it filled me up. The biscuits were excellent - like Bojangles good (Biscuit connoisseurs will feel that!). The Mac and cheese was good and the cobblers were solid. The mini cobbler was like $2 and came as part of a combo. Get that - enough to get a good taste, but not massive. The banana pudding (the bourbon walnut specifically) was the show stopper for me. I'm sure it's gonna box, but it was really good! The woman helping us was very nice and got us served and fed quickly. Not an every day spot, but an, I'm walking by and feeling like dessert at 2 pm sort of spot for sure!

They are open until 1 PM on Saturdays, we reached at around 11:30 AM and I was half hoping for them to be out of most items. Fortunately, even though they were super packed, we were able to find all of the items we were looking for - thanks to the hard working staff as they continue to make their pastries until closing - unlike so many other bakeries these days that make a certain amount and call it a day! Now to the food, everything we had was absolutely phenomenal! I am not a donut person but I loved theirs as they were very flavorful and weren't too sweet. I definitely prefer their Ube and Pandan over the Black sesame donut. The Matcha chocolate croissant and the Ube Kouign Amann were my favorites of the bunch! I cannot recommend them enough, this will surely be my first stop every time I am in DC!

When I stopped by, it was raining heavy, but the walk from the metro was totally worth it. I stepped inside, heard some great R&B jams playing, and I made my way to work that amazing smell was coming from. Along the way, I passed some cute merch -- insulated bags and more. And then there was a freezer with all of their pints, ice cream sandwiches, and ice cream cakes. I got up to where the scoops are being served, and there was a very helpful sign next to it with all of the descriptions. I appreciate it the thorough breakdown of what has allergens, what has dairy, and what is vegan. I pretty much tried everything. My favorites were the vegan ones (spiced peanut crunch, tamarind spice), the spiced date cake, saffron pistachio, mangos & cream, black forest... I could keep going. I split a generous scoop of the spiced date cake & saffron pistachio and it was divine. I could've gotten some cool toppings too, but decided not to. It was $8 as is XD. It's definitely a splurge, but a unique flavor profile like this I think it's totally worth it. The pints are $12, which also isn't bad for something this unique imo. I'll be back to get some pints. It's awesome that it's in Brooklyn too, so my sister can explore it as well.

I was so excited, in fact, that I waited in line on opening day. While the flavors were indeed exciting, I found the flavor to be muted. I was picturing intense Indian spice that hits you in the face, only to be confronted with very mild flavor. I've been a few times since opening, and I think it's fine, but it doesn't live up to expectations. I've found the soft serve to be better than the hard ice cream, but it almost has too creamy of a texture. The yogurt soft serve flavor with cardamom was the best thing I've tasted there. The ambiance is fine, there is a small patio for warm days. The last time I was there the inside smelled like sewage, eeek!

Place is cozy with some Italian decor and Italian music playing. Everything was pretty good in my opinion; can't say that I can choose which course was my favourite! We had the duck prosciutto as an appetizer, which was a special. It was delicious with the cooked duck taste, alongside the toast with very vibrant jam. My vongole pasta was good too; I do like pasta more on the firmer side, which it was. It tasted great with the calm, garlic, and olive oil - simple, yet tasty. The tiramisu itself was fine, but I believe it was enhanced even more with the sauces and cookie bit on the top; the cookie bit was too good. I had absolutely no plans on buying or eating cake that day, but as a cake lover stuff happens. It was such a cute building the pastries had to be everything! It turned out to be the perfect stop. 1. The looks The building itself is so cute on the outside, and being a fan of the color pink, it instantly caught my attention. Inside, it feels less like a fast, high volume bakery and more like an intimate cake boutique. It gives small town where the owners know you by your first name. You can feel that real love was put into the space and the baking. Tasted like every ingredient was hand mixed, every cake hand frosted, and every cookie carefully hand scooped. They even served my slice of coconut cake on a real plate, which was such a cute, bourgeois touch that I loved. 2. Service The hospitality here is top-notch. On my first visit, yes you heard me! Lol! The gentleman Eric who rang me up was incredibly knowledgeable about all the different cookie and cake flavors. I ended up returning the very next day, and although he wasn't there, the other two staff members working which included Mikaela were absolutely delightful and so kind. The young lady told me her daughter loves the carrot cake as well and Mikaela said they started working there because they loved the patties so much! 3. The Cakes -Coconut Cake: This slice was so delicious, fluffy, and airy that it instantly reminded me of being a kid at holiday family meals with a fresh coconut cake on the table. -Carrot Cake: It was everything you want a carrot cake to be. It was nice and dense yet soft, with a pleasant texture from the added fruits. Definitely noticed pineapple bits! The cream cheese frosting wasn't overly thick and was so good you could eat it completely by itself. -Strawberry Cupcakes: I stole a small bite of my son's. unfortunately, this one was my least favorite. The frosting had a little chemical taste to it but it was a super cute cupcake. To answer your question, will I return? Absolutely! If you are in the DC area or planning a trip there soon, check this spot out. It truly feels like a mom and pop or pop and pop boutique. Not a bakery but a BOUTIQUE! Check them out! Tell them Anisha from Milwaukee sent you! (Not that they'd remember it just sounds cute!)
