Quick stop to pick up some cookies from too good to go. I was not aware it was in a food hall. There were a couple other businesses there but I only got cookies.

I live locally and captain cookie is some of the best cookies I've ever had! I could you not they were the tastiest most delectable cookies. Very wide variety of flavors. Every time I'm in there the staff is very chill and respect. Must try!!

    Bakers Dozen Assorted Cookies

You have GOT to come here and try their cookies...easily the best in DC! It's tucked away in a pseudo residential area but worth the trip. The cookies are SO fresh and delicious . Service is friendly. I've come here multiple times and will be back for more before Christmas hits...it's that good!! Bought a bakers dozen...ate half before nightfall. Took a picture before they all were gone.

Pro tip: you can choose two flavors of ice cream for the ice cream sandwich

Yum, yum, yummy yum yum. One of my good friends lives just a few blocks from this Captain Cookie location inside of Tastemakers, and I envy her. However, it is probably better for my waistline that I have to drive across town to enjoy this deliciousness. If you don't know, at Captain Cookie you can get: 1) cookies (my favorite in all of DC) 2) ice cream (Trickling Springs!!!) 3) Ice cream sandwiches Unless you aren't really hungry, then the only correct thing to order here is an ice cream sandwich. For $6, you get two fresh cookies (regular chocolate chip is hands down the best) with a very generous scoop of ice cream. You can even split your ice cream between a couple of flavors! (This makes splitting one much more palatable idea to my children who often want different flavors). I've only ever eaten one ice cream sandwich solo before and this is definitely something meant to share. Grab a punch card while you are here - buy ten cookies, get one free!

    Chocolate. Classic. Delish.

The end is nigh (maybe) for this location. I do have some fond memories of sitting outside Trohv in Takoma, chomping down on a massive ice cream cookie Sammy I purchased from the Cookie van. Those days are gone. The Brookland location has always been somewhat of an eye sore. I mean, come on, hire an interior decorator. This is DC. But I think the real problem is the fallout from the Trickling Springs disaster (google it). The cookie man used trickling cream as it's ice cream base (at least that's my understanding). And now Trickling is gone and the cookie mans ice cream, quite frankly, doesn't taste like much of anything. What a bummer. I hope they can reignite the fire. Otherwise, it's Jenny's and nice cream for this guy.

Got this delivered via uber eats since I needed something sweet but was too tired to leave my couch after the long work day. I ordered an icecream sandwich (basic-- vanilla between two chocolate chip cookies) and some of the cookies n cream flavored cookie dough. The icecream was amazing. It was light and refreshing but still sweet. The cookie was a bit too sweet for my taste, but my roommate loved it. The cookie dough was decent but nowhere near the level of the icecream sandwich. My only real complaint is that they don't have enough options ice cream sandwich wise. I would've loved to have gotten to mix up my sandwich with a funky icecream flavor but really just didn't get the chance to. hopefully this is something they'll add to their menu in the future.

Eh. I wanted cookies and saw this place had a variety so I decided to get a half dozen order to try them out. I ordered online and the next available time they had for pickup was 2 hours later. I went about a half hour early to get them and they all were ready but not packaged. I thought that was odd for an order that was already paid for but what do I know. I, literally, pinched one tiny piece from each just to see what was what. The Order (1) Chocolate Chip: the best one in the box and the chips, specifically, helped make it work. That's not saying much because I'm not a huge fan of chocolate. (1) Double Chocolate Chip: the worst one in the bunch, to me. It tasted dry. Yes, it tasted what I think "dry" would be like if it were a flavor. (1) Oatmeal Raisin: I think this was ok. The major problem with that statement is the fact that OR is my favorite cookie flavor and I can't recollect the bite experience. (2) Peanut Butter: this was very disappointing. PB is up there with OR for me so I was excited. It wasn't peanut buttery enough for me and it didn't seem fully baked. (1) Snickerdoodle: the sugar sprinkled on top was good. I'm not a fan of milk but maybe that's what makes these cookies taste better. I tossed them so I guess I'll never know.

I'm in search of the best croissant in DC, so I regret not getting the regular croissant on this visit, but the chocolate croissant gave me an idea of what to expect. Buttery, flaky, crispy, with just the perfect amount of sweetness. The typical chocolate croissant was my personal favorite. When we asked what the most popular items were, we were surprised it wasn't the more classic bakery items, but we enjoyed what we tried. We want to go back soon to try some other items as well. The interior is small but cozy- there's also some seats/tables outside. I ordered the savory scone and a chocolate croissant and they were both delicious. The scone had cheese, mushroom, and chives which all worked nicely together. The texture on the croissant is peak. Perfectly crunchy/buttery exterior with satisfying soft chew in the middle. The chocolate in the middle was the perfect amount and wasn't too sweet either. For drinks, their syrups are also made in the house too! I ordered the Chai and at first I asked for half the syrup because I'm not a fan of drinks that are too sweet, but the person who took my order assured me that it's not too sweet to begin with and she was right! The spices in the syrup were delicious Nice ambiance, friendly service, and delicious baked goods! Overall, one of my favorite bakeries I've ever been to. In our typical tradition, we cut everything into fourths and the whole family tries every pastry (everyone wins... ;). We thoroughly enjoyed both the savory and sweet (chocolate) options. I could see how this would be an acquired taste for some. I loved being able to peak into the kitchen to see the big oven and where all the magic happens. Unfortunately, the location in DC has permanently closed and we were still very much in the mood for some pastries... my cousin who is French has previously sang the praises of this Lil French pastry shop, so of course I had to give it a try. I am so happy that I did because I truly believe that I have stumbled upon my new favorite pastry shop in the area! Upon walking in the smell of croissants and almonds and sweet, sweet delicacies filled my nostrils. I basically became the human version of Remy from ratatouille inhaling a delicious bouillabaisse simmering on the stove top for hours....seeing colors and flavors so bright and intoxicating I simply had to have it I walked in and my eyes were instantly attracted to so many delicious options from classics like Palmiers and Napoleons to some unique flavor combos I've never tried before combined like raspberry and pistachio. Of course, I decided to grab a little bit of everything to make an accurate assessment as a YELP Elite should!! My favorite hands-down was the Berry Millefuille. The way the pastry crumbled in my mouth with every bite, combined with the tart, fresh raspberries, and thick flavorful custard.... Was worth every penny. Honorable mentions go to the peach rosemary tart, which was so unique with the added botanical of rosemary with some fresh sweet peach slices on top and a very crunchy tart base. We all enjoyed everything we purchased! I also ordered one of their seasonal specialties, the rosemary latte with skim milk and iced. The flavors were so uniquely crafted to where you could taste everything but everything combined together for the perfect sip. The ladies who greeted us at the cash register were so patient, so kind, and so understanding of my excitement and difficulty deciding and they even helped me add on a little chocolate happy birthday rectangle to the pastry I purchased for my husband! Without a doubt, this is only the first of the many times I will visit the establishment. It was so authentic, so delicious and passed all the vibe checks even from the French side of the family. I was told I have to return when they first open to have a fresh croissant and a fresh baguette that is on par with what you would have in Paris. Even the items in the fridge were made in France and were delicious fruit nectars that were very unique- we purchased a passionfruit nectar that didn't even make it past the doors before we had completely inhaled it and purchased a lychee nectar for later. I am so excited to have learned about this establishment and believe me when I say you must run, not walk, to experience it for yourself.
