So I came into this location on Tuesday May 14th at about 8:15 a.m.. ordered a 20 piece butterfly shrimp which cost me somewhere around $20. I even told the cook beforehand what I was ordering because I also work in the kitchen and I know how sometimes we like to have a heads up. The Cook acknowledges the 20 piece butterfly and then the young lady proceeded to take my order. Instead of the 20 piece butterfly I received four piece butterfly with two chicken, two hush puppies, macaroni and cheese and broccoli. Clearly not what I ordered!!! I tried to call and let them know there was a mess up and no one answered the phone. Realizing how restaurants work cuz I work in one I didn't think they would answer the phone so I just took a picture of my food and figured I would pick it up with them tomorrow since I always come this route. Instead of admitting that they were wrong and correcting the situation I was instead hit with "if you don't have a receipt we can't replace the meal. After letting sue know that the employee did not give me a receipt she still insisted on not giving me what I ordered even after showing her what I received. I placed an order at the drive thru with 2 cars ahead of me. 10 minutes later I pulled up to the drive thru window with cash in hand and there was no one there. 5 minutes later there was still no sign of any employees so I went to Popeyes Chicken. Disappointing, I spent $17 for lunch and it was a huge disappointment. Everything was cold and soggy. Portions was very small. Hush puppies tasted like a greasy onion. I am only giving this place 3stars because of an employee by the name Ayden who was very professional and made sure that I got my order. I completed an order online and once I get there I find out that they don't have what I ordered. Ayden tried to call the area manager several times because she needed assistance with refunding my money for order and the area manager did not answer. She then went to the back and checked to see if they had what I wanted in the freezer and they did have it. I don't want fried fish very often, but when I do I really want it. I knew Long John Silver's was nearby but I remembered this, and decided to try it. Clean inside, great service, good prices, with decent variety on the menu: fish, chicken, shrimp, etc. Even shrimp scampi, and a pasta alfredo dish. I had the fish with mac and cheese and fried okra as my sides, and added a shrimp snack. The pieces of fish were huge, with a light batter a bit different than LJS. I haven't seen a Captain D's since I left eastern Kentucky in 1990. So when I was down at Northland on errands, I stopped in for lunch. I've always preferred Captain D's over Long John Silvers back in the day; the captain's selections were far more vast, and as a seafood purist that meant a lot to me. I was not disappointed after almost 30 years. The food was superb and still beat the competition by a longshot. Crabcakes were excellent, the shrimp were (well, what can you say about fried shrimp?) well-crafted and everything just brought me back to my childhood (and college days!). read more

Food is overall really good. However, ALWAYS check your food before you leave that parking lot. We didn't get a good third of the food we ordered and didn't realize it before we got home. Went back and got a bit of attitude from the lady at the window. Which in hind sight, we could've been snappy when she ran our card for the wrong order to begin with when we ordered our food initially. People make mistakes though so, No biggie. I choose green beans and loaded baked potato. For the Mr., I ordered him the grilled salmon with fries and broccoli which also came with rice pilaf and bread stick. I waited around ten minutes because, guess what? This is a fast food restaurant that makes everything to order!!! That's right! Your food does not hit heat until you order it!!! Not sitting under the heat lamp of doom here, folks!!! Fast forward to home and eating. Yum yum and yum! Fries tasted fresh. Fish was hot and not oily at all. Shrimp was nice and crisp. Very solid meal. Got the 2pc fish and shrimp meal. Green beans and ham and cole slaw as sides. This was my first experience at Mr D. And I have to say I am quite impressed! Tasty hush puppies, not too greasy and cooked just right(fluffy middle), fresh crispy fresh pollock or cod? pieces in a manageable size. I particularly liked the shrimp and it's really crispy panko style breading. I asked for cocktail sauce but I sure didn't use much! Yeah I mean really, everything down the the slightly spicy horseradish cocktail sauce delivered! Cole slaw was nice and cold, thick rich and creamy with a little celery seed kick to really set it off. The whole meal was fresh and tasty leaving me wanting more, even though I'm full to the gills! My experience at this Captain D's was truly by far the worst experience I have had at any fast food place in or out of the United States. What was wrong here I just don't know. We went through the drive thru around 9:40 PM. We waited at least 5 minutes before we ever got to the speaker. At the speaker we were told to hold on and waited 7 minutes, we then placed our order in and had to repeat it 4 times to get the order taker to repeat back to us what we ordered. We pulled up in line and waited more than 9 minutes before getting to the window and the crew member rattled of to us three different orders that were not ours with a no response from us when asked was that our order. Finally we were asked what was our order? We repeated the original order to her she repeated it back wrong, this happened THREE different times and she never could repeat our order back. Our orfder was for 1 White - Fish and Shrimp Skewer meal, 1 White - Fish and crab meal, 1 12 piece shrimp meal with 2 sides of hushpuppies and two strawberry topped cheesecakes. She could repeat not even half of our order back to us right. When we told her that's alright we will just go somewhere else; she said, ok I am sorry, as if the business or us was not important.
