I ate at Captain Ds on Timberlake rd yesterday for my first time,and I must say for a fast food type restaurant the catfish sandwich was delicious!,and oh the fried oysters were so dang good!!...The employees all were very courteous and friendly!...My boyfriend had eaten there before as he's a native,I'm from NC,living here 6years now,so when I sat somethings good,ya can take it to da bank!.. lol read more

Sketch as all hell, but this place's drive-through is oddly packed at strange hours. Despite having a spacious inside they still haven't re-opened it. The menu is adequately, even suspiciously priced at times. This place easily takes the cake for worst french fries in lynchburg but on the flip side probably one of the biggest and most cost effective fish sandwiches in lynchburg. A very strange establishment indeed. I may be back if I'm feeling... brave. read more

I can honestly say, the Meal & Service I received TODAY was GREAT. The Dining Area was NEAT, and CLEAN, keep up the GOOD WORK!

Walk in and you get Clues to turn around. The doors the windows look not to have been cleaned in years. I do not know how they can serve food. Now to the attitude of the day manager. To be so bold to call refuse to properly fill a customers web order even when the customer had the print out. For the cost of one peace of fish what 50 cents she lost a customer for life. The place is so dirty the health department should inspect and even shut down followed by Rude management who have bad attitude. Then there is no way to contact customer service and get a refund for on-line orders Save your self do not eat here read more

This place used to be really, really good. You could always count on a good meal with good portions that tasted really good. There were certain times that certain big groups of people would come on a regular basis. I mean it was really good. I guess it comes down to management I don't know, everybody has a hard time finding good help these days, but it really is a shame. I was there two nights ago, got way less than what I was supposed to get, I even showed them and they gave me one more piece of fish but it was still not what I was supposed to get. I even did a couple of add-ons and what was supposed to be clams was mostly a box full of the little crunchy bits out of the fryer basket. They used to open up the box and show it to you on the counter before they gave it to you. It's easy to see why they don't do that anymore. This used to be a go-to when I wanted a treat, now it's off my list. I'm very, very disappointed. read more

For a fast food seafood place I had my grilled tilapia dinner for my free birthday gift, and it was excellent! The food was served hot and fresh, and the portion was a good size. If I had paid for meal it would be worth the price! Would recommend! read more

I only gave it a 1 because there's nothing lower. Stopped by last night to pick up fish dinners. Big mistake! The fish, if that's what it was didn't even resemble their normal great fish. It was an over sttered mess that resembled chicken. I called the restaurant to complain and was told "that's what we have now, supply chain issues". I told them they should have signs up and the guy stated they did on the doors and register. I brought up thst there weren't any at the drive thru and he didn't comment. No offer of refund, another meal anything. So sad the way service has declined! read more

Horrible customer service. Today's meal was over grilled talapia served on a bed of dry clumped rice. Shift manager was rude and unapologetic. I've eaten at this restaurant for many years but after today's fiasco I'll never eat there again. read more

Great place for fresh fried seafood. Drive through was a bit of a wait but staff was friendly and food was delicious.

the food is ok but disrespectful way the managers treat the young kids that work there is uncalled for. I cannot in good Conscious recommend this establishment until the level of integrity and respect towards customers and employees alike is met. The management teams treatment of these young adults trying make a start in the work force of America makes me sick to my stomach and until corporate gets involved and make changes I will no longer be spending my money at this establishment thank you. read more

I have only been there once and have had a single item from their menu, the Captain Sandwich, but it was good and well prepared. The other reviewer is right though, in that the hoagie-sized fish sandwich, fries and a coke totaled $6.90. (There is an 11% food tax in Lynchburg- isn't that outrageous?) That's a little steep for my wallet. The rest of the items were much more expensive, but then, it is seafood, not beef and chicken so I guess some price premium is expected. They have inside dining and a drive-thru. read more

When you walk up to the counter to order lunch at 12:05 on Monday afternoon and there is nobody there, that's a problem. Then when she slowly walks to the register then looks at you, without saying anything, (no "Hi! Welcome to Capt. D's" or "How may I help you? ", that's another problem. This is a younger person, who seems to be in good health, just seems to not be interested in working. It wasn't a busy day. Then it looked like several completed orders were backed up... the cook came out of the kitchen to let customers know that their food was ready (by activating the pagers). Food is good. Service is poor. Don't know how they stay in business, except that my fellow gray-haired friends are addicted to this type of fried fish. I would have given only one star, but the food was as good as this type of food gets and the dining room was clean. read more

Very good seafood for the price! I would highly recommend if you are trying to get some good food on a budget! Also it is suorisingly fresh as well on wifi my favorite late night spots. read more

Love Captain D's. Very much prefer the Captain over LJS. Their fish is almost a match to home fried fish. Surely beats those planks of fish from LJS. Their cole slaw is also much better, along with the hush puppies and fries. About the same price as LJS and you get what you pay for as with anything in life. read more

I've been to CaptainD's 2 or 3 times in the past & each time I say I'm not going back. But, I did it again today. I ordered the Shrimp (Tapilia) Scampi Platter & cheesecake bites ( they are good) but when I've gotten scampi in the past the shrimp was in a mixture of the sauce , here they put maybe 2 Tlbs. of sauce in a container & by the time you get home, the sauce has moved around in the bag & part of it sticks to the container. There was a bed of plain rice ,piece of tipilia , a few pieces of cooked shrimp on each side & by the time you rake out the sauce, you might have enough to put it on 3 little pieces of shrimp.
