We were all set to go get steak dinners and thought... why are we going to spend $60 when we can be just as satisfied with good burgers. My brother, who also just started on keto, was surprised that the burgers here can be done with a lettuce wrap. Surprise! Been a long time since I have been here, because I simply avoid Wards Road at all costs. But recently, I sold my car and have been trying out food delivery. Uber eats brought me that big bag of fries and a huge hamburger today along with some real lemonade. And I didn't have to go anywhere near Wards Road! Nice reunion that I may repeat occasionally at my Downtown home. This has become a fairly regular "who's on a diet?" Delivery order place. I have even expanded my takings to include an occasional milkshake and even one of their hotdogs which I find pretty tasty. Their two Patty hamburgers, of course remain the staple item for this location With all of the toppings that you want and probably a few that you don't want. read more

Last time here for me. First off I know walking through the door with 2 people your going to pay $40.00. So its not the cost because you can go to multiple sit down and be served restaurants and pay the same. The only value they have ever had is the fries. For 20 years I have always received a cup running over and a 1/3 of a bag full. Today I paid $7.49 for a Regular fry, not a Little fry.. when I got our order there was no cup. But a paper fry holder like all other fast food places. No fries in the bag. just 1 little bag of 19 fries. We have always shared fries as everyone does, but this was pitiful. When asking if maybe I got the wrong order we were told that they changed to the paper holders because they are wider and hold more than the cup...you kidding me.. 7.49 for 19 french fries.. the bun was dry and hard and fell apart before I could take a bite. I know the economy is hurting..I know places are trying to save and cut cost.. you may be saving food cost but I too am looking for value in where I spend my money and its not going to be 5 Guys. Not how it used to be. I remember ordering that $5 fry and it filled half the bag. I paid $20 for a veggie burger and order of fries and they didn't even dump them in the bag like they usually do. I moved to Lynchburg from Los Angeles and missed my frequent visits to In & Out Burger. I had heard 5 Guys was similar in quality, so while out Christmas shopping, at 2:30 and quite hungry, thought I'd finally give 5 Guys a try. First, I was SHOCKED at the prices on the menu . . . way too high! But then, maybe this is going to be really special. Opted for a "little" cheese burger with 3 free toppings and a "little" fry. My daughter ordered a similar burger, we shared the fry order, along with complimentary waters. It was difficult to hand the lady a $20 and receive only a few cents back in change. BUT, with great expectation, maybe this was going to be as advertised. Number 95 was called and we were ready for the taste test. Way too salty, way to greasy, way too mushy fries! (We always go for the fries first.) I will admit the serving size of "little" fries is generous. Now to see how wonderful the burger is, after looking at the framed journal artwork ALL around the restaurant. Not bad, but certainly not the best; especially for the "little" burger at over $5. Bottom line: I will never return for the lack of value received. Oh, and when we were asking about the size of the burger patty, the lady said, "it's has a S***load of meat." I went to Five Guys tonight with my son, and as always the food was excellent. The service was quick, the staff was friendly. But what really struck me tonight was how clean the place is. We were there for an early dinner and they were only a couple of other customers there. There wasn't anyone standing around doing nothing, therewere staff members cleaning everything. Behind the ice tea dispensers, the legs of chairs, even. And then I noticed how clean the place was, there's nothing on the floor, not a trace of peanut shell, no spills all around the soda station. You don't have to carefully choose a table that isn't sticky. I think that is one of the things that can separate a really great experience from a mediocre one. Then I also noticed that everyone in the kitchen was smiling and seemed happy, and that is definitely something you don't see every time you go out to eat.
