Everything came out hot and well-timed. Overall, the whole experience exceeded my expectations. Great food, great service, and a really enjoyable atmosphere. Hadn't been since around 2010, so I gave it another shot in 2026 -- and man, I hate to say it, but it's not the same restaurant I remember. I know the storm tore through and they had to rebuild, and I get that everything's changed around here. But the food didn't hold up. I ordered the $40 filet and it tasted like I grabbed it off a gas station shelf and cooked it on my dashboard at high noon. Way too much good Florida beef around for a steak to come out that flat and sad. My wife had a cheeseburger, my daughter had the kid steak, and the whole thing ran $100. Good lord, Janice. I know COVID handed every place an excuse to crank prices up, but $100 for that just isn't right. I'll give them this -- the sweet red chili chicken wings we started with were actually good. That was the high point. The restaurant itself, the environment seemed sterile. It didn't have character. Restaurants are too sterile nowadays and lack that. Highly disappointed, and I genuinely hate writing this. This used to be one of my spots. Hoping they find their footing again, because the old Rodeo's was something special.

I did try the Hog Pen last week and was disappointed. Only one waitress and there was a large group just getting settled at their table when I arrived. Took quite a while to place order (ribs and "moist"??? (i.e. fatty) brisket, slaw, mac'n cheese). Sides OK; ribs were covered in an over-spiced paste; not OK. What was pretty good was the "moist??" brisket. Balanced meat to fat ratio. Good flavor, but I have had better I probably will come back if I ever get a hankering for The Stack; otherwise, it's not back on my usual lunch rotation. However, it may be worth a try for you.

What truly sets Gary's Oyster Shack apart is the service and attitude of the staff. My group and I had been on the job for 13 hours straight and were looking forward to one of the only places left open past 8. Gary's was listed somewhere as open until 8:30. We walked in and were greeted warmly, and told that the winter hours were only until 8. It being 8:03, we said our thank yous and turned around to leave. One of the staff offered 'The grill is still on - if you want to stay, we'll feed you!' After our long and exhausting day, to have these folks offer to extend their long and I'm sure equally exhausting day for us was just ... awesome. By the time we were finished, it looked like all of the plates had been licked clean. A couple of us even took some desert to go after delightful and satisfying meals. Holy cow! My cheesecake was unbelievable! I had the Shack Stack and can't recommend it highly enough. I enjoyed this place so much, I returned 14 hours later on my way to the airport to grab some lunch. We had the catfish sandwich on nice flat white bread. it was very lightly fried and not a smidge of grease anywhere. I piled it high with onion, lettuce, pickles mustard and hot sauce. Pablo had the mullet platter. Boney but he does not mind picking through for the flesh. It's far to go here from our beach west end but worth a trip every couple of months methinks if over in PC.

The oysters that my wife ordered were some of the best fried oysters we've had in many years! There wad a very large amount of very large (bordering on huge) oysters. She loved them and couldn't finish them all (I of course volunteered to help support her on that ). The oysters were just a Little Bit on the too salty side but not by any means way too salty.
