Wasn't able to post this review during my visit last month, the chicken is on point and the lemon-pepper is to die for. Only problem was with the service, it was a ball of confusion and a manger was there, no communication with the staff and the young man that took my order was rude upon my return to pickup my order stating that I was trying to get free chicken. I order a tray of chicken, thereciept did not have the current date on it when he gave it to me,upon my return to the store (everything is cooked to order), he said I was trying to get free food per the receipt he handed to me 35 minutes earlier, the manager first ally stepped in to rectify the situation, but my view of the customer service was already tainted. GI understand the stresses with dealing with being short staff, but this was very unnecessary and very disrespectful to mean consumer coming from a young person who either had no idea or memory of the customers they serve. Close to my work so I stopped in during a weekday, got the two piece cod meal combo and a piece of plain cheesecake. Overall was underwhelming. Staff was nice. I called ahead and said 15 minutes to get ready and took another 10 minutes longer, weird because I was the only one inside the place during this time. I'm reviewing the Captain Jays on Van Dyke in Warren, MI. The chicken looked like someone was in the back beating the h- - - out of the wings, they were all bruise and the meat was brown. I asked for no lemon pepper and what did the girl do sprinkled it on my chicken. I also asked to substitute mashed potatoes for the fries which was an $1 up charge total cost for this horrible lunce was $12.99. The mashed potatoes or the gravy not sure which one was rancid. It probably had been sitting in the warmer too long. I will never patronize another Captain Jays especially that particular one I will drive right pass them and go to Popeyes. On a Friday evening at dinner time (7:30p), there was a steady flow of people on the inside as well as in the drive thru. Two people from Door Dash were there for a pick up orders and they were taking call-in orders over the phone. This seemed to be the spot for fried chicken. For once, instead of wings , we got the leg and thigh special with fries. They were fairly quick with preparing our order. We ordered a medium fry that had about 15 fries in it. I had to run back in for them to correct. They did without an issue and added more fries. I wish I had taken a picture of the 1st medium before I took it back for the attempt of a 2nd. While there, I added a two honey butter biscuits for 1.00-buttery delicious. The chicken doesn't fail, but it's hit and miss with the sides. read more

One had his mask under his chin - the same employee, a black male, about 20 years old, glasses and slightly bush hair, was also EATING as he was preparing other people`s food!! The manager, female, possibly hispanic, NO MASK. In fact, she had it in her hand and put it in her back pocket. When I tell you he is the example of "Great Customer Service" he always greet with a "hello, how are you". Phoned an order in tonight. . . Employee was difficult to understand but I finally got the order placed. I asked about picking up the food with regards to COVID-19 . . . I was told to come in or use the drive-thru. When I arrived the drive-thru line was long so I parked and went in. One person of all 10 or so employees had a mask on and that individual didn't have it covering their nose or mouth. This is May 1st. It is now ordered in Michigan that face masks are to be used in all closed spaces, so on and so forth. I can't believe that people don't know what is going on and expected. I was a regular customer here since this location opened then they sold me chicken that was cooked in old grease (it tasted burnt) and failed to rectify the situation. I was in today as a Door Dasher and picked up an order. Upon delivery I found that the order was incorrect. When I returned to the store, the clearly over caffeinated manager, immediately upon seeing me, accused me of distracting his employees. When I told him that no such thing happened and that I would never do such a thing he, without apology said, "that's why I'm saying." I told the manager that errors likely occur when people are trying to do too many things at once. The manager actually said, "that's called work!" I just had a conversation with the manager at this location regarding the texture of the fish that I bought on Sunday night, he seems to think that the fish is prepared properly but my taste buds say otherwise, being an older person I've eaten a lot of fish in the last few decades and I know what good quality fish taste like, this fish is cooked hard on the outer edges and mushy in texture in the middle I think this fish is cooked frozen and that's why it never gets done in the middle but anyway the manager says that 80% of his customers like it that way and I disagree wholeheartedly wholeheartedly read more
