I'm decided to come here for happy hour before going to see a movie. Very clean establishment! The customer service was excellent! I sat at the bar upstairs for happy hour. It was a lot more spacious up there. The wings smelled so good when then were brought out! I got the honey bbq ones, the flavor was okay. I'll try the old bay ones next time. The potato skins were good, but I wish it had more bacon in it. The margarita was very good. Overall I enjoyed my experience and would return again. The happy hour prices are so great!!!!

Great Irish Pub. Been here many times. Now under newer ownership and still very good. Service is great and ambiance is nice on both floors and on patio. They have good deals like burger Monday, a generous selection of craft beers, an even more expansive selection of hard alcohol especially Irish whiskey you can have in a flight, and wonderful cocktails. Great weekly events as well like Kareoke and comedy upstairs.

A nice space for groups and a pretty good happy hour. The fish and chips is a hearty portion. The beef stew was tender but the actual beef chunks were dry. It was a late night dinner so I'm not sure if that's standard. The stew had a nice flavor. The servers can be busy during certain times but try their best and continue to have positive attitudes.

The definition of mediocre bar food! I've been here before for a drink or two in the past but have never tried the food...until now. We came during Happy Hour and decided to try a few of their specials. My Buffalo wings came out cold. The sauce was just ok but nothing about them satisfied. The chicken quesadilla lacked any flavor to the chicken and the chicken itself was rubbery. On top of that, our sodas were flat! My friend got their chicken tender special and this is no exaggeration, a plate came out with literally TWO tiny chicken tenders on it. Luckily the service was decent but overall, I wouldn't recommend coming here for their happy hour food specials...ever.

Fun on the dance floor in 2018

Representing 2018 in alphabet series, M is for McGinty's Public House. I went here twice, once in March 2018 & the other February 2023. In March 2018, my girlfriend at the time wanted to go here as there was a group of people going for St. Patrick's Day. We went here along with her young pre-teen daughter. They almost weren't going to let us in, but my g/f assured we just needed to eat, and they said since it was before 9 PM, it'd be ok. I enjoyed my Shepherd's Pie, a solid option here. After eating, there was dancing on the dance floor and a couple of people I knew. Then, my g/f went out to the dance floor. I'm sitting at the table with my g/f's pre-teen daughter who fell asleep. It was awkward for me especially since someone asked me if she was ok, and I said she's just tired. We left sometime in the midnight hour. But the fact of the matter was that my g/f shouldn't have put her daughter in that situation. On a positive, her daughter graduated high school & is still alive today in 2025, so her mom did something right. The other time I was here was in February 2023. I decided to have my birthday party at Copper Canyon in downtown Silver Spring. Then, a few of us were willing to hang longer asking what I wanted to do. I said I remember McGinty's was a good Irish pub. So, I had a couple of more drinks here. Staff was nice and helpful getting me drinks. Overall, I like McGinty's as it's a cute Irish pub with live entertainment, dance floor, & good Shepherd's Pie.

McGinty's is a nice Irish pub vibe in downtown Silver Spring. Big space with 2 levels, good drinks, and the live music (Wendy & Steve were amazing) really made the night. Food was mixed--the calamari and my sandwich were great, but fries were meh and the stew bread was stiff. Still, fun spot with good drinks and cozy atmosphere.

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food at this spot... Me and a friend were walking around the metro, looking for something to eat and hang out at as it got later into the evening during the weekday. I'm happy to report the drinks or strong and flavorful, and the food was portioned nicely and made with care. I would recommend as a casual hangout spot for anyone in the area looking for good eats and a good drink.

A drink that arrived this way. Full of ice, pretty empty, and even missing some of the rim.
    Roxanne M.

Having a pretty poor experience. Waitress totally dismissive. I asked about the amount of drink and she basically shrugged and walked away. Asked the bartender who equally shrugged and said that that is how it comes. I have a hard time accepting a mixed drink that comes full of ice and as if they forgot to fill it. Guess this is what happens at a place that fills its seats through "events" rather than quality. This review might have been very different if there actually been responsive service. ‍

    Burger and onion rings

Good service and decent menu, however this place suffers from a fatal flaw--cooking 101 dictates you season your food. I swear they didn't use a grain of salt in their shepherd's pie or on their hamburger (which by the way tastes and looks like a frozen patty). Onion rings were very good, but nothing else that I tried deserves praise.

    Not a smash burger.

Their menu offered a regular 2 patty burger and a 2 patty smash burger. My receipt showed my order properly: I ordered a smash burger. This is what they presented me. Not a smash burger. Nearly 2 inches of beef, no crispy latticework, no texture. The staff seemed committedly disinterested in why I didn't eat my meal.

Empty beer for 30+ minutes. Pitiful.

I had a menu in front of me in no time. Drink order taken, but I feel like when I place this order, it always gets messed up. I ordered a Sprite and water, all I got was the Sprite. With the heat, I sure could have used the water more, but oh well. Time to order and I wanted to order a dog, but also something to go with it. Seeing how the dogs don't come with a side, you need to order something else. I went with the Chili Idol. You cannot go wrong with a chili cheese dog, that is for sure. I love their bun concept here, giving you the option to cut this up into thirds, which you will need to do because of how big this thing is. Then to add on the heap of toppings, chili, cheese sauce and diced onions. You are in for a treat. Of course I devoured it. As my side for this, I went with their Crispy Pickle Chips, served with Miso Ranch. I could have went with fries, but I think this elevated it just a bit more. These were fresh from the fryer. That ranch, the right amount of salty to compliment it all. The atmosphere in here was a bit dead during my visit as it was after the lunch rush, but when I was about to leave it was picking up as the World Cup was coming on. Initially when I walked in, I liked the vibes, the ambiance of the white seating area was nice, so I decided to place an order to go and enjoy the ambiance. But as mentioned, the vibes were decent, and the bartender was amiable and accommodating. However, the food was disappointing. I placed two orders to go, the first one African Suya with jollof rice and the second one Jerk Salmon with white rice. As you can see in the photos, my order was incorrect. The Jerk salmon was supposed to come with white rice as shown in their menu but they instead added jollof rice and the African suya I asked for jollof rice with it but it was packaged by itself. I am upset I paid close to 50 dollars for an order that was wrong and not even as delicious. The jerk salmon had sautéed onions on it and was too salty, affecting the taste, and the African suya tasted like it went rancid or spoiled, and as someone who is Nigerian and enjoy suya it was not like how Suya should taste or look. After eating a few bites, I hope I don't get food poisoning . It seems like they are under new management but they need to figure it out because this is unacceptable for the start of a new look/restaurant.
