Kyla & Captain Garret are great. Explained everything about the trip. They showed us types of sealife we may encounter. I personally saw 4 turtles, family says there was more. What an epic experience with Camila and Savannah! These ladies had such a great positive vibe and really made the experience special, especially for our 5 year old and 9 year old. They put us on a ton of fish and turtles and took some amazing footage for our family. The kids had a blast and the crew really helped them be super comfortable in the water for being out in the ocean for their first time snorkeling. With 6 people max, makes the experience way more intimate and special. We will definitely be back next time we are in HI! 1-2hrs is the perfect amount of time to see everything and not be completely exhausted and cooked the rest of the day. This was truly an amazing experience and I would recommend it to anyone staying in Oahu. Max and his crewmates were very friendly and accommodating and I felt safe enough with them to jump in the ocean even though I don't know how to swim. They set me up with a life vest, a boogie board, and a personal swimmer and I was good to go! We got to see all kinds of beautiful fish, sea turtles, and dolphins. They airdropped the footage and pictures they took of us after the trip. My favorite thing about the tour was how personal and safe it was (especially during COVID). There were only 10 of us in comparison to all of the other boating tours which had 30+ people on them. We were a bit nervous choosing a smaller boat but we are so glad we did! They take a maximum of 6 people out and give lots of personal attention. We were lucky enough to see a whole pod of dolphins and since we were not in a crowded boat were able to see clearly and take pictures. I booked this snorkel adventure on a whim since I had a free afternoon on my solo trip to Oahu and was staying nearby in Waikiki. I have snorkeled before, but this was by far the best experience! I was a little nervous about swimming in deep water, however, our snorkel guide Libby was in the water with us the whole time and made me feel so safe and comfortable. We saw too many turtles to count and even saw a sting ray. Libby was great about pointing out all of the cool things to see and sprinkled fish food to attract the fish to us. What is great about Captain Max's tour is that it is limited to only 6 people. While maybe some tours are a bit cheaper, being able to get going faster because there aren't 30+ people being herded on and off the boat and getting the attention of the snorkel guide is definitely worth it. I went on the 3:30pm tour and there were actually only 5 of us, which was great. I'm really glad I decided to go with Captain Max Boat Tours and would recommend it to anyone wanting to snorkel with sea turtles! read more

Had a great snorkeling excursion today with Captain Garrett and First Mate Alex. It was like having a personal guide because there were only four total guests on the boat. Alex stayed close by us in the water, told us about all of the various fish and turtles we saw, and was very attentive. First time snorkeler and I can't recommend this tour enough. My recommendation - spring for the picture package. It's so nice just to swim around and let someone else worry about taking the pics. Santiago was in the water with us that day (4 of us total) and was able to point us right to the turtles and fish and get pics for us. We were lucky enough to see dolphins on the way out that hung by the boat and put on a show. DON'T take the big expensive tours - THIS IS THE ONE YOU WANT! Best 1.5 we've spent so far. We took and chance and it was the best decision we made. Another tip - take the 8am tour. Yes it's early, but there's less boats there which means less other people in the water around you. And maybe you'll get lucky enough to get a dolphin show as a bonus as well! read more

We had the most amazing time. Garrett and Kyla were extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and brought us out to the reef on a small but spacious boat with a group of 6. This was perfect if you don't like big groups. It made the experience a lot more personable. One guide has the boat, the other stays in the water with the group and points out cool things to see, gives instructions for easier /better snorkeling and makes sure everyone is safe. We didn't have kids in the group but first timers. I honestly think the tour is perfect for every experience level and kids as well. And....we saw plenty of fish and turtles. Such an incredible experience. My wife and I took the 8:00 am tour and it was the perfect time. The water was crystal clear, we saw hundreds of fish and probably a dozen giant sea turtles. Its pretty amazing, we paid $99 per person you meet at Pier B, there is paid parking right next to where you suppose to meet, The Boat isn't huge (max 6) guests which makes it way more personal and my opinion way cooler, we chased some whales and than we snorkeled with some turtles, all gear was provided, I highly recommend!! read more
