    Nail in BBQ sandwich.
    Khan K.

The experience started off great. The hostess staff and waitress were great. Loved the hush puppies and honey butter were great. Then my son bit into a nail. A literal nail. They apologized and said they think it came out the press but like it literally could've killed my child. So if you're going to risk it I'd double check the food or atleast the BBQ.

Grouper sandwich with coleslaw and hush puppies - Sadly didn't taste fresh

Food is okay for a quick bite but I'm not sure if the fish served are fresh catches. I got the grouper sandwich that came with hush puppies and coleslaw. Sadly, only the hush puppies tasted good. Coleslaw didn't taste fresh and the sandwich lacked flavors. And, I got my food within 20 minutes. Prices are a bit steep for the overall food quality and ambience.

    Senior Combo Flounder and Oysters

We had a nice dinner on the deck overlooking the boat docks. Server was professional and fast. We both got the Senior Combination dinners with Flounder - I added shrimp and my husband added oysters. The food was plentiful and cooked well. The restaurant was clean and in good repair.

I'm gonna start a collection and share it and call it "Great for Boomers" and this will be the first spot on the list. And I say that with love not hate as my parents are boomers. They, especially my father, would think that this place was the highest rated seafood you could find. The prices are cheap. The grease is heavy. And they offer senior discounts. 5/5 boomer stars. As for us with a bit better taste...this seafood is just overly friend junk. The fries have no style or flavor. The clam strips you can get anywhere including the frozen section at the store and they'd taste the same. I don't even think they made my stuffed crab there and it was almost all bread. The only reason I give it 2 stars instead of 1...the location and service. It is absolutely gorgeous and a great spot to sit and eat especially outside. The parking lot is huge and they had no problem seating a group of over 20 people I was with, nor did they have a problem taking care of everyone. However, the food was so bad I didn't finish it but took it home to my chickens...true story...see my photos!

    Blackened Red Snapper

8/22/25: We enjoyed a late lunch on the deck overlooking the Calabash River waterfront. Server MaryAnna was very welcoming, friendly, attentive, and quite knowledgeable of the menu. We both ordered the lunch special of red snapper: one grilled and the other blackened. Cooked to perfection with sides of baked potato and sweet mashed coleslaw. The price of the lunch special was pleasantly reasonable @ $15.99 with a slight up-charge for grilled and blackened requests. The only negative was that many starling-like birds would rush a table for scraps as soon as the customers walked away, creating a messy scene...and one of us was pooped on while eating. Overall, an excellent meal with a marsh view. - Laura & Mark VanValkenburg, The Bluffs on the Waterway, Myrtle Beach

Stopped here for with a group of people for lunch. We had a friendly waitress, and the atmosphere was pleasant. I ordered soup and a salad. My New England clam chowder and salad was o.k. My dining mate enjoyed his fish sandwich and coleslaw. The rest of the diners seemed to enjoy what they ordered. It was a pleasant day and some diners enjoyed outside seating.

Great authentic North Carolina seafood. It's right on the water with nice and friendly service. I would definitely go back again.

Delicious Calabash shrimp, hot and crispy. Hushpuppies with butter. One of my favorites.

In a town known for seafood Captain Nance's is mediocre. The service is great but the food is forgettable.

Otherwise the taste of the food was phenomenal, as well as the speed at which it arrived to the table. Let me just say to, the fact they can memorize the specials and menu options is AMAZING to me. This place is definitely a more business casual attire restaurant but not required. It is on the more expensive side but the food is always worth it!

We've come here every single year for his birthday, and it has become a very special tradition for our family. The setting never disappoints -- the restaurant sits right on the marsh and the views are absolutely beautiful. With the sunny weather and peaceful scenery, it made for the perfect backdrop to celebrate. We started with several appetizers including the Scooby Snacks, Boom Boom Shrimp, hummus, and the Board Meeting. Every single one was exceptional and truly exceeded our expectations. For entrées, our table enjoyed the filet mignon, fresh sea bass, a cheeseburger, and the fried flounder -- all cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. There was also live music by Johnny White, which added such a nice touch to the atmosphere and fit perfectly with the beautiful setting. But the real star of the evening was our waiter, Luciano. He was one of the most incredible servers we've ever had here. At one point my son accidentally spilled cocktail sauce on his shirt, Luciano didn't skip a beat He immediately stepped in to help clean things up, brought hot towels, and even brought club soda to help remove the stain from my son's shirt. He handled everything with kindness, professionalism, and genuine care. He also helped us celebrate in singing Happy Birthday to my son and even included a candle in his birthday pie. Luciano was attentive, compassionate, and truly the ideal waiter. He left us with a lasting impression and made an already special birthday celebration absolutely perfect. We look forward to continuing our yearly tradition at The Oyster Rock and hope to see Luciano again next year!

Typically, when I come, it is with a larger group so we have to sit inside. For anyone wondering, you are likely always going to have a wait. And that's okay! There is a wonderful beach and Christmas shop right across the parking lot that you can peruse - I promise you can kill at least 45 minutes, and the meal is well worth the wait. This time, since it was just my friend and I, we decided to sit at the outdoor bar, which is first come first serve. We were quickly seated, so it worked out perfectly. One thing I will say is that this patio is in the direct path of the setting sun, so just have your sunglasses ready. I ordered the Sarita Margarita, which is my favorite cocktail they have. It is like a fruity, boozy slushy. Absolutely delicious and perfect after a day at the beach. I always get the Hurricane Chicken. It is my absolute favorite meal. If I were to have my choice of my last meal on earth, it would be Boundary House's Hurricane Chicken. When you order an entree, it comes with a side salad. My recommendation to you is to get their house raspbery vinagrette, it pairs perfectly with this salad! Now, the Hurricane Chicken itself is this delightful combination of a chicken breast, crab cake, and shrimp with some delicious sauce on top. It is so creamy with the variety of flavors that three meats bring. In case you don't finish it all, it also reheats well for leftovers the next day. If you're ever in Calabash, you have to stop in at Boundary House!

One nice feature is that even if a dish comes with one side, you can replace it with another; Plenty of seafood but also steaks, pastas, and sandwiches. All provided by a very friendly staff. First off, treat yourselves to their house made croissants with butter & honey.
