Hush puppies were small compared to other local restaurants

I've enjoyed several visits to Oak and Palm over the past 6 months. Tonight our table had Cajun Chicken Alfredo, Carolina Crab Cake, and house salad. My friend ordered the Cajun Chicken Alfredo was moist and delicious with the right amount of spice (not overly so). The portion was generous. I ordered the Crab cake and house salad as a meal. It was very good, although I felt the portion of aioli was too large relative to the size of the crab cake.. The house salad was good but had more carrots and cucumbers than lettuce. That was OK with me but others might not appreciate it. Service was good. The hostess was very friendly and personable and I wish I'd gotten her name. The waiter knew the menu and provided solid answers when asked questions about menu items. It was a perfect evening for dining on the patio and if that strikes your fancy, be sure to make a reservation during the summer months. It's definitely prime real estate during the busy season.

Waterway views, great food and phenomenal service. Oak and Palm covers all 3! Visited on a busy Saturday evening and we were greeted and seated immediately. Our server had great menu knowledge and his recommendations were spot on. The salmon jambalaya was packed with flavor and the portion was veryyyy generous. This will be a spot i visit again when in the area.

Beautiful restaurant with wonderful marsh views especially from the back seating area of restaurant. It's a relaxed atmosphere, bright and airy with large windows, wood tables, a few booths and a lovely well covered patio area. They have two really nice bars, one downstairs and another beautiful bar upstairs. Our server Daniele, who happens to be the pastry chef at one of their sister restaurants, was such a pleasure! Even if the food hadn't been as great as it was, she would have made up for it with her winning smile and personality as well as her attentive service! Now for the food! It was wonderful. The fresh delicious sea bass was prepared perfectly; moist! All the sides sounded amazing! We loved the rice that came with the entree as well as the parm risotto we just had to try! The apple arugula salad was also special with well paired ingredients and a wonderful light dressing. But for me, the topper of this lovely experience was Daniele's phenomenal coconut cake with a light fluffy whip cream frosting and toasted coconut! It is simply amazing and I was on cloud 9 eating it!! All in all, the atmosphere, food and service made our dining experience heavenly!

My lobster bisque didn't have a piece of lobster in it and was bland. and my tuna looked great but had no flavor. My husband said his sea bass was good. I was disappointed for sure.

Sunset Beach needed this restaurant - and it was worth the wait! Although it was the "off-season" and they got off to a late start to opening day - I think this is a GREAT way for them to ease into the business before the busy season! The decor is beautiful as are the views. There are two bars: one upstairs facing away from the water and the main level facing the bridge. It is an absolute amazing view - whether you're dining at the bar, main floor, outside patio, or upstairs on the second deck. Since I was by myself, I started with the hush puppies. The old twin Lakes was known for these and they did not disappoint. I don't know if it's the same recipe but the cinnamon butter was absolutely amazing. Definitely enough hush puppies for the table. My dirty martinis were made perfectly by the bartender who was very attentive. I ordered the Pork Belly Scallops, and it was an amazing combination. The corn purée and the hash was not something I would've chosen as a side... But it definitely complimented the dish. This is a great restaurant and is wonderful for a date night or special night out. The owner/manager made her way around to each table, which I thought was a nice touch. I don't know that this would be the best place for kids, but they did have a kid selection. I hope nothing more than to see them succeed. We will be back the day after Thanksgiving- reservations made!

Inventive menu lacked execution. Service was good and we accommodated with a reservation when they were full. That was very nice.

We had a delicious dinner. My husband had chowder and jambalaya which was delicious. I enjoyed a dish of Chilean sea bass with coconut rice that was superb. My absolute favorite. Nice view of Sunset Beach intercoastal. The waitstaff was exceptional and the manager came over to check on us during our meal. Definitely going back.

We had fabulous service, unfortunately I don't remember the name of our waiter, but he was great at letting us pace our meal. My family loves coming here and it was my husband's birthday so that is how we ended up there. Unfortunately, I have yet to have a mail that was memorable for the right reasons. I do not like that the specials are not written down so that you can see all the details and the $$. The night that we were there, the waiter described one of the specials with mahi-mahi over crab & lobster risotto, which sounded amazing. I ordered with full anticipation that this was the meal I would finally love. Unfortunately, the risotto was so full of red and green peppers that you couldn't even taste the crab and lobster. The fish was beautifully prepared, but I ended up taking everything home because my pallet was blown by the bell peppers. It was an expensive special that was reheated with homemade risotto. A friend was happy to eat the leftovers from Oyster Rock.

Decided to give this place yet…read moreANOTHER try as I know their menu has grown and they have another season under their belt. Unfortunately- this visit was more disappointing than the last. When we walked in - we looked over at the bar area and a gentleman immediately told us "no one under 21 in the bar area." Not even sure he said hello first. We had our 13-year old daughter with us - and didn't even ask to sit there yet. We were then seated in the dining room and were waiting on our friends to complete our party of 7. Waitress took our drink order. My daughter asked for lemonade - they were out. She then asked for a Shirley Temple - didn't have the ingredients to make it. My husband ordered a beer and she asked for his ID. My license was in the car (I am 53), so she would not serve me. I understand them erroring on the side of caution, but it wasn't worth me walking to my car to show her my ID. My husband's beer was warm, but thankfully my water was cold. ‍ My husband ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer - but they were out of it. Waitress said, "well - it's that time of year!" Sort of funny when you're 200 yards from the ocean and are situated above a fresh seafood shop. We finally ordered the tuna appetizer while we waited for friends - it was decent, but a small portion for the price. Here was the kicker - we asked for our bill bc we decided to go across the street to Mavericks. Our tab was $29.21. We gave her $100 bill - and she returned with all cash bills. She said she rounded up our tab because "they don't give change" (as in coins). So they rounded it UP to $30 instead. Who does that? Is it even legal? We are owners on the island, and truly do support all local businesses. We LOVED House's when it was in Sea Trail. Unfortunately, we were too embarrassed to meet our friends here and opted for wings at Mavericks. ‍
