The service is second to none, very attentive staff, and the food is outstanding, very generous portions, always cooked to your liking , regardless of your choices, pasta , fish, or steak etc.... If I could give ZERO Stars I would. Where to begin. With the server, "Patience", ironically enough the problems started with her. Customers with dietary restrictions asking questions should not be met with eye rolling and combative behavior. If you do not know the answer to a simple question such as "Does the kitchen use CANOLA oil" then you go ask. You do not go in the kitchen a get the manager or cook all riled up. It all went downhill from there. BTW CANOLA oil is the equivalent of motor oil - it is not fit for human consumption. Putting canola oil in a glass bottle on the table and telling people it is olive oil is not only deceptive - it is called fraud. The water tased like chlorine, when Patience came to refill the glasses she asked where my glass went, I told her nicely it tased like chlorine. She gave a blank stare, then an eye roll, then said "well it comes from the soda machine", well HELLO, that comes from the municipality. It was not any kind of insult to her or anyone at the restaurant, I just don't want to drink it, so why get offended? Again, her ignorance caused her to get offended and act like a child, running to the kitchen and manager complaining about our table. Since I learned it was canola oil, I asked to have to please have my vegetables either be cooked in butter or steamed cooked clean with nothing, if they could not use butter or olive oil, to just steam them. Butter is not toxic, but canola oil is, my body my choice, no one has any right to tell me what to eat. Good gravy. I was informed that I could not get potatoes because they were all "pre made" and cooked in canola oil so they would give me double veggies. Which I did not ask for. I asked her - do you not have a potato? Can you not just cook the potato separate ? A baked potato? She replied "they are not going to cook a potato just for one person - they are all "pre made"... they do not have time for that. Then plate came out, with vegetables all shiny cooked in the "olive oil" which is actually canola oil... manager came over with a glass of wine in his hand acting like he was half in the bag yelling at me causing a scene, telling me that *I needed a personal chef and not to go out to eat*. Highly unprofessional. I asked him why the veggies came out with anything on them when I asked them to be cooked in butter only or steamed, not the olive oil as we had already established that it was not olive oil earlier in the escapade, he replied "we can't do that". So I asked, "do you have butter"? He said yes, I said so why not cook them in butter like I asked in the first place? Steak was bloody when I asked it to be medium... another chapter to the episode, which I skipped because she came out after I placed the order and warned me that the cook said "medium is medium and I better not complain"... It was one issue after another and it all stems from the poor training to the server and her acting childish and taking *everything personally*. People paying money to eat are entitled to eat what they want, not what you think they should get. This is not a prison cafeteria, you are not doing me a favor. I am doing you the favor by spending my money at your business. Asking for things to be cooked not in poison (canola oil) or asking a steak to be "medium" meaning not bloody, & not over cooked, is not anything to *get offended about*. Yet the manager had the audacity to then march back over to the table and tell me to never come back again, loudly. He created a scene, not once but twice. Server also separated the checks... no one asked her to do that. Then they brought a totally different tables check which had alcohol on it and was $186 when our check was $86, it was like an episode from the twilight zone. I have worked in high end restaurants and dealt with actual real assholes. People who were rude and nasty and it is never acceptable to be combative with a customer, even when they are acting rude. However this one, she was offended from minute one and instigated the entire incident. She should not be working in a customer facing role ever until she learns not to take things personally & learns the ability to not be so easily flustered. She riled up the entire staff and made a scene. She kept saying she had been off for a while & she only works there. Disgusting place with very rude staff. I will say the server sent over to bring the corrected check was friendly and seemed to be more professional than this one. BTW "Patience" threw the original check at my mother. Totally worst experience ever in any restaurant I have ever been to. Do not waste your time, that is unless you like eating canola oil which is highly inflammatory & should not even be allowed to be sold for human consumption. But, then again seems like more and more people are ignorant and do not want to educate themselves about big food, big pharma and the literal poison that is being sold as "food". ZERO STARS/GARBAGE! read more

We had a party of 4 and all ordered the Asiago linguine. When our dishes came out they were drenched in a watery sauce with a light dusting of Asiago cheese on top. It was not a creamy sauce as it stated in the menu description. It also wasn't made with linguine pasta, it was thin spaghetti pasta. One person in our party asked the manager if she ordered something else could it be rushed. The manager, Jenna, was completely rude and unprofessional! We had to tell her to leave our table and go away. We asked for our checks, paid, and left. I would NEVER recommend this place. read more

Food was good, but..... we had reservations for 530 and they weren't busy yet when we got there. It was very loud and hard to have a private conversation. Despite many, many empty tables, they sat us right next to a table of 4. We ordered Hummus and some drinks which came out pretty fast. But, before we even got through 1/2 of the hummus, the salads came out. I felt very rushed. The salads were anemic, not impressed. We took a couple bites and our dinner arrived. I had grouper and my husband had salmon. The entrees were very good. But it was too loud in there and we felt really rushed, so we probably won't be going back when there are so many good restaurants in the area. read more

Our party of 4 was seated promptly and the service was okay. One in our party ordered the fish platter with flounder and shrimp. The flounder was very small and had a lot of bones. One bone was 5" long. The person eating the fish got the bone stuck in her throat. The fish was very boney to say the least. After the bone got stuck somewhat in her throat she wouldn't continue eating the fish. I ordered the angel hair pasta and I honestly don't ever recall pasta drenched in oil. It was awful. The manager came over and I do not think I have ever encountered such a rude unprofessional person in the service industry. We figured out why the restaurant seemed busy. Adjacent to "Grapevine" are 2 other restaurants which we tried one tonight and it was excellent. So in my opinion if you cannot get seated in either of the 2 restaurants due to volume you end up at Grapevine. read more

Such a nice place! Good food and drinks--- but if you want to get a seat at the small bar good look uck! The staff is really great, and overworked --- but never without a "what else can I get you?". Edit: the one member of out party that attempted to eat the shrimp suffered from terrible food poisoning. Due to her diet this was the only possible option. I'm not sure how anyone could come up with anywhere near 4 stars I can't think of any reason to provide more than 1 star. I vouched for this place with my group based on the Yelp reviews because it rarely steers me wrong. I can't say never anymore. To begin, the bread was warm and the oil with pesto was tasty, but not remotely Mediterranean. The menu is odd. It's not Mediterranean as the name suggests. Mostly pastas and seafood. The service was slow. They sat us up in a VERY dark room next to a very loud bar. One person ordered the shrimp and pasta and they must have dumped a bottle of dried basil in it, that rendered it inedible. The rest of us ordered the fried seafood, which how could you go wrong? Well, you can. The curly fries, which what restaurant serves curly fries with a nice meal, tasted freezer burnt and were dry. The fried flounder had the skin left on. And the piece was very small. We told the server the food did not taste good, but she didn't seem to care and we didn't see a manager, despite asking to see one. Overall $85 for only 3 people down the drain. Total waste. Just got back and all 6 of us were thoroughly satisfied. Had the grouper with chutney and it was perfect. Like to see a grouper sammie on that menu. Roasted red potatoes were tender and flavorful. Mixed veggies were good also but the raspberry cheesecake knocked me down and floor and slammed back in my chair! That thing was good ladies. We met up with family at the Grapevine on our drive up the Eastern Seaboard. The service was attentive and friendly, the food was good but not outstanding-- all in all a great place to stop for a quick dinner. The place is family friendly and good for large groups. A little noisy at times, but lively; no one was frowning. We had the calamari appetizer which was a little skimpy and the sauce was spicy (Tabasco) which I like, but not that flavorful. My wife had the fried oysters and scallops which were okay. I had a seafood and pasta dish which was good, but there was just something missing. They had one IPA on tap which I have had in the past and was not my favorite. The prices were very reasonable and the service was great. read more

We have lived here for years and never been to Grapevine. We spontaneously decided to try it out and I'm so glad we did! I wasn't a huge fan of the bread dip, but everything else was FANTASTIC! Terrible experience! Went with friends and my wife order a steak that was way over cooked with a awful balsamic glaze. The clown who I believed was the owner came up to see how we were doing and noticed we didn't enjoy our food. Rather than try to fix the situation he went on to acknowledge that the steak has got complaints in the past and just laughed. I ate my wife's food so she wouldn't have to eat that balsamic glazed road kill. We will never waste our time on this overpriced food again! I highly suggest you don't waste your time. read more

Came here for lunch today and was not disappointed. They had bread service which isn't common for lunch. The bread was fresh and warm and the dipping sauce was amazing! I'd seriously go just for the bread and dipping sauce. I had the choose 2 seafood plate for $8.95 - I chose shrimp and scallops. The portion was perfect, it tasted fresh and the breading was spot on. My husband and son both had the juicy burger for $12.95 and raved about it. My husband also had broccoli chicken soup and enjoyed it. The service was wonderful. The decor was nice and the sink in the bathroom was fancy. We will be back for sure! read more

This place is a hidden gem in Calabash. We've eaten here several times and it has always been excellent. A wide ranging Mediterranean inspired menu with plenty to choose from. Even if you want traditional Calabash style seafood, this is your place. The shrimp and flounder plate was the tops I've had at the beach in several years. We stopped on the way home from Wilmington and seeing Mediterranean restaurant on the marquee sold us. Healthy and fresh is what we expected. WRONG. Where the people reviewing the restaurant dined is beyond us as the images and experience was NOTHING like the reviews. We walked in and were about to be seated when a woman came scrambling over yelling, "No, no no! Not here this table is reserved!" We laughed it off and told gentleman we didn't care where we sat. To be clear there are no "good" tables. The one he attempted to seat us at faced a window with a Toyota pulled up to it. I went to the restroom to wash up before eating and the floor had something on it that actually had my shoes sticking to it. Aside from that only one toilet worked and the smell was horrendous! We were still game. Upon looking at menus...which was difficult as it was SO DARK we realized this was NOT a Mediterranean restaurant....with the exception of a Greek salad. At this point I wasn't as adventurous as my friend. I ordered cheese sticks (knowing they would be frozen and unable to mess up). When they arrived we could not contain our laughter. They were truly thawed frozen cheese sticks with a leaf of lettuce and 3 halved baby carrots on top. It was so bizarre. My friend ordered the Greek salad which she left most of it on the plate. They are very proud of their baby carrots as they had the same cut and placement on her salad in all four corners. I neglected to mention that before our food arrived we thought there was a semi blackout. Everyone in restaurant....although they clearly knew the owner was complaining because the lights had been dimmed to the point we could not see. When my peel and eat shrimp arrived (also believe they had been frozen) we had to use my phones flashlight for light. The owner refused to up the lighting regardless of complaints from so many. No apology or check in either. My shrimp also had the same bizarre side of a single leaf of lettuce with 3 halved baby carrots. My friend requested more bread and we were told that only one bread was complimentary....we would be charged for more.. The table that was "reserved" upon our arrival remained empty until we were leaving. I politely ask the gentleman if they had dined here before. He said no. I then ask if he had reserved the table and was given a flat no way. I told him to enjoy the carrots with every meal but to savor the bread sparingly. Noted. Do not stop based on marquee and when it seems sketchy...aka darkness and no more bread...leave! The only stars are for the server who was professional and polite. read more

What a disappointment. The server was good. When the wrong fish was served we spoke w the owner who was less than apologetic. She then refused to take the wrong dish that was served off the check . It seemed that we were bothering her. I have been involved in the hospitality industry for over 40 years and this just rubbed us the wrong way. I will tell All don't expect great hospitality here.
