A couple weeks later I stopped by this truck in person, and as soon as I started walking up to the truck I could smell what appeared to be rotten fish. It smelled really bad. this food cart has about 8 different carts. there was a decent- sized parking lot near the…read moreentrance. i came on a sunday during lunch time and less than half those carts were closed, which was a bummer. i initially came here for the hawaiian food cart, so i was super disappointed to see that it was closed, even though apple maps says they usually are open on Sunday's. they have a ton of indoor and outdoor seating which is super nice for when the weather isn't great. i ended up getting the arabi shawarma plate from the mediterranean food cart which was super good the portion size was huge! i only paid $15 for this (before tips) which was such a good deal. i like how they put the wrap on the grill to toast it. it made the texture very satisfying and delicious. i also had the option to eat it with a spicy sauce, but i declined because i have a low spice tolerance. i would 100% recommend getting this if you love mediterranean food. the worker at the food cart was very kind. the wait was about 8 minutes, and he gave me a beeper so that i didn't have to wait by the cart.

They should call them lamb flavored rice burritos. I had a couple bites and tossed it. Wasn't feeling like eating a tortilla burrito stuffed with a pound of rice. I was happy to stumble across the very unassuming Food Cart Heaven near Glisan and 157th (yes... you're still in Portland!) If you're looking for the hipster foodie vibe with corn hole and fire pits you won't find it at Food Cart Heaven. Instead, guests are treated to a very diverse and... um, functional setting complete with a household appliance vendor and lingerie modeling booth. Don't worry, this place is family-friendly, but you may be asked, "mommy, what is lingerie?" There are a variety of carts offering a broad selection of international cuisine. I've sampled Woody's Tacos (Delicious!) and both of the Mexican carts. Try the Aguas Frescas for only $2... the cantaloupe carrot is my favorite! Parking isn't great, in fact the configuration is a little awkward. The lingerie modeling spots are only valid for 15 minutes, so don't park in one of those clearly labeled spots mistakenly. There are several side streets where you might find additional parking as well. I'm very excited to try more carts here, so I'll definitely be coming back.

I walked up to the counter felt the wave of affinity and homesickness wash over me as I ordered a sandwich and a batido de mango (they were out of Materva but the fact that was on the menu along with Malta I already knew this was the spot.) It was the best pork ever! It was marinated and dripping in legit mójó (a bitter orange and garlic concoction that is pure heaven) and the sandwich itself traditionally prepared (no veggies or green just meat and cheese) minus the crispy traditional cuban bread which is hard to find outside of Jersey and Miami. Excited to eat the traditional dishes on the menu next time I go. This is REAL deal cuban food. Highly recommend!
