I returned to San Diego this year, my favorite city! I stopped here at Captain's Cove and I saw a shirt I just loved. I didn't buy it at the time, but when I got home I decided to buy it over the phone. When I called I spoke to Asma. She took care of my order and even wrapped it up in cute nautical paper for me! I received it just a few days later. I was very happy with my purchase and will return there next year in person. They also have really cool pirates up near the ceiling that are fun to get a photo of. I recommend this store for souvenirs when you are in Seaport Village! read more

Captain's Cove is such a cute store! I love anything with a nautical theme, and this store has tons of great stuff. This seems like such a fun (and appropriate) store for a shopping center like Seaport Village! My son thought the pirate themed items were great! There were clothes for adults and children alike. I thought the onesie that said "I smell trouble" was just too cute. They have pirate shirts and hats. The huge selection of guns was truly unique. There were lots of signs, plaques, and even wall art. There are items even hanging from the ceiling here. The nautical items are my favorite things to explore here. Brass bells, signs, and clocks are throughout the store. I really like lighthouses, and we found the cutest jewelry box and snow globe. We liked them so much that we ended up buying both. They had some nice compasses and clocks that would make nice gifts for anyone who likes nautical stuff. The service was good here too. The salesperson who rang up our items was both thoughtful and sweet. She made sure to ask if we found everything we were looking for and wrapped our items with such care. She was also very knowledgable about the items here too. If you're anywhere near Seaport Village and need to buy a gift for someone who likes nautical or pirate themed items, you'll never go wrong with stopping by Captain's Cove for a unique gift!! read more

All of my rennie friends who also enjoy all things pirates - would love to get set loose in this shop! As I entered, I noted the background music playing was Sea Shanties! There were some rather large decorative piratical items I would loved to have secured for next year's Privateer Feast (annual fundraiser for breast cancer research where everyone dresses like pirates, gets drunk, and spends money on raffle tickets and auction items). Since I did not have room to haul any large booty and loot back to Virginia with me - the guys running the shop advised me they have a web site and they ship! Avast ye Scally Wags! Great little store in Sea Port Village full of fun and cute souvenirs! As a local I wasn't looking for anything for myself but the employees were happy to help me shop for an upcoming business trip for small San Diego labeled items (not tacky) to bring to my coworkers on the east coast! I settled on some super cute treasure chests with a little side label that would be carry on friendly. This store, back a few years with the original owners, was the place to get pirate stuff. You could buy pirate trinkets, pirate shirts, flags, hats, weapons of all kinds, books. Now with these owners, it has gone way down hill. All they are selling are t-shirts with pirates written on them. This store should change its name. It's a rip off read more

"All who enter must surrender the booty" I thought this sign was unique when I saw it at Captain's Cove, but later discovered it at some other tourist stores. Still, I'm so lame I laughed. Captain's Cove is a new breed of pirate souvenir store I've noticed lately in Seattle and now, San Diego (not that they're related). The entire store is full of pirate stuff including cute little framed treasure maps (want!). The best souvenir was a real coconut (with husk/hair) made into some crude voodoo head. Their business card includes a 12% off discount (um, nice round number) for your online order with code "CC6." read more

I couldn't believe I hadn't noticed this store before. Walking in there I thought I was at Disneyland, with the pirate music and all the pirate gear. It is reasonably priced for being in seaport village, the two people that were working were very nice and the stuff was super cute. I ended up getting my friend a "poop deck" sign. It made me giggle. Aside from the pirate stuff they also have a great amount of nautical "stuff". Like anchors, ship wheels and such. Can't wait to go back with more $ to really get everything I wanted. read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE. Absolutely terrible service. The woman running this store was incredibly rude to me and my sister. She insisted I buy a shirt that had a stretched out top that I tried on "because of the pandemic" and would not let me take another one in the same size. I went back in to exchange and she took my receipt and asked me "if I could read." So incredibly rude please do not shop here!!!! read more

Annoying return policy. Would not buy from again. More trouble than it's worth to get a refund on a damaged jacket. A good store would be able to issue a partial or full refund without requiring me to drive out of my way to return the item. Not an SD local (family is) and they require me to physically bring the item back. Other stores are able to do this, you can't? I offered to send through mail or email photo of damage but that was not acceptable. Cheap material! Beware. read more

We really enjoyed this store, they have great nautical, pirate, mermaid themed items. They have a pretty unique collection of stuff and have a friendly staff. My husband has been looking for a boatswain's whistle for quite some time. We saw one at the Renaissance Faire in Irwindale but it costs too much, but found the same one at Captian's Cove for only about $14 bucks. One of the employee dresses up as a pirate and looks like Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean. He was super knowledgeable about the items in the store. We saw a lot of cute ornaments, posters, signs, clothes, lamps, figurines at very affordable prices. Definitely one of our favorite stores in Seaport Village. read more

This place is a RIP off. They charged my card more than my receipt and tried to give me the run around when I called to ask why they charged me the wrong amount. This place is overpriced and has poor quality products. Dont waste your time here. Worthless place that obviously has employees giving it 4 stars because this place isnt worth 1 star. read more

Bought a shirt on vacation. Got home & saw the seam had been missed during sewing ( 30.00) tshirt. So I call the number on receipt- its just a voice mail. I leave one. Call the numbers I found online...nothing. Send an email to an address I found online- nothing. These people have no way to get ahold of them and a no return policy. So eve if I did I am sure id be out anyhow. So buyer beware and look carefully before purchase. read more

Visited the captains cove while walking around downtown San Diego and seaport village . Great little shop with cool and some unusual items . They have nice jewelry and some pirate props like guns, hats , patches , etc. The shop is ran by some nice and attentive employees who are not pushy like some of the shops around . Will be visiting this shop again . read more

What great customer service! The new employee Patrick and his Manager, as well as the supporting employees really made the experience enjoyable. So good, in fact, I agreed to purchase a t-shirt that I need to lose a few pounds to fit into comfortably. They signed me up for a repeat buyer's club, and allowed me to try the fabulous rum cake samples, a few bites of every flavor. I was happy to assist in Patrick's training indirectly and look forward to returning to seaport village and shopping here again. It concluded a great day out in San Diego Perfectly. There's lots of cute little ship/pirate themed gifts in here, from shirts, hats and other clothing, to photos, Christmas ornaments and more. Pricing is expensive though. I bought a onesie for my daughter because it had a mermaid on it, and it was 15$, nothing super special, just a mermaid and "San Diego" on it. Also didn't have a variety of sizing, just 6 months and 18 months...that's a pretty large gap to not carry. Girl working there was polite though. At one point during checkout a man showed up and stood next to her for a few minutes staring at me, but saying nothing. He mumbled something to her, and then continued to stand there. It was awkward to say the least. Other than that, if you're looking for pirate inspired gifts, this is a good place to check out. read more

Cedric the pirate (manager) was extremely helpful and friendly. When I pointed out that the pocket of a sweatshirt had a hole in it Cedric not only gave me a 20% discount but he was very helpful in finding matching earrings to a necklace I purchased and when I chose an ornament for a gift he let me know that it was made out of a genuine sand dollar shell. This shop is filled with treasures from trinkets for home or gifts to the people that work there and are very joyful to talk to and assist you. A must see shop. read more

This was a fun place to visit and shop when we were in San Diego recently for a UCSD graduation. The staff was friendly, helpful and entertaining. And this didn't end when you left the store; I contacted them via email regarding something I saw in the shop and they directed me to the exact location on their web page where I could find and purchase it online. In addition, when I forgot to use the code to get the 12% discount for the online purchase, as offered on their business card, I called and they were able to give me a credit for it since I paid with PayPal.
